The villa is modern and spotless. It has everything you need including dressing gown, slippers, hairdryer, coffee and tea, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, dental kit and vanity kit. The breakfasts are extensive, varied and delicious! The staff and owners are lovely and go out of their way to make the stay comfortable, they even checked on me a few times when I had travelled for a day tour to Yala with a tour organiser they didn't know. The property is located 20 minutes walk from Unawatuna beach - the walk is a pleasant one past many shops and restaurants, straight down the main road and then left at Ceylon Spa. I walked it alone both during the day and in the evening and felt safe. The hotel is down a lane off the main road, which is lovely to walk down during the day, but isn't well lit at night so can a feel a bit precarious at night due to its unfamiliarity. Turtle beach and Angel beach are also a pleasant 40 minute walk away. The hotel also arrange very comfortable airport transfer as well as tours to many of the local sites.

Only that daily housekeeping needs to be requested, but I know that many hotels now follow this. Once I knew this the room was cleaned daily.

Absolutely loved this accommodation, booked for one night and extended our stay to 4 nights we loved it that much - it’s been the best so far on our 3 week trip to Sri Lanka, fabulous spacious modern accommodation, beautiful pool and grounds, very secure with 24hr security, location was perfect - we caught the bus which was a 2 minute walk to the bus stop into Galle, and also took the bus into Mirissa which cost under a £1 for the both of us. Breakfast was also wonderful, something different each day. However, the best by far for us was the staff - so lovely, friendly and genuinely welcoming 🩷 such a wonderful stay and I’d definitely stay if I return 🙏🏼

Nothing at all - we loved everything about it 💞

We stayed in the villa at the top, which offered a stunning view thanks to the large panoramic doors and windows. We stayed in Room 19, which turned out to be spacious and cozy. It had all the necessary amenities: air conditioning, a comfortable bed and mattress (just like home), new beautiful and comfortable furniture, nice bathroom with a large shower, a bidet, and a washing machine. We were pleased to have a kitchen, a refrigerator, and household items. The territory is simply magnificent, it was looked after every day, the place is full of beautiful trees where birds sing and build nests. You can see how grows mango, papaya, lime, bamboo, etc. It’s like a paradise. There’s also a pool on the premises. It was nice to dip in and spend time there. Staff:
 The first thing that comes to mind about the staff is their smiles and politeness. I thank everyone who works in this place for their kindness and friendliness. Sasini always tried to assist us with any inquiries: helping with little requests, organizing excursions, and you could talk to her about the culture and traditions in Sri Lanka. She was very responsive and kind, even giving me a small gift to remember our stay. Driver Sandaru was always friendly and quickly took us to the necessary places in a tuk-tuk. He recommended visit a turtle hatchery and took us to nice beaches: Dalawela Beach and Jungle Beach, which are not far from the villa. He even gifted us some incense, it was nice. Every 3-4 days, we were offered cleaning, and they vacuumed, changed the sheets, towels, and wiped all surfaces and mirrors. However, you could also request cleaning earlier if needed. Breakfast was included in the price:
A buffet was offered mostly local food, but it was always varied. One day my wife mentioned that she likes the Aralia flower, and later the staff presented it to her just like that, it was a very kind and nice gesture.

We stayed for 5 nights with our 2 little boys and it felt like home from the moment we arrived. Fresh coconut water upon arrival and they arranged a scooter for us within minutes. The villa itself was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Having a washing machine and small kitchen was a nice bonus. We enjoyed the swimming pool as well! Staff was very friendly and helpful, not only for us but also our kids. They loved playing games with our boys. Breakfast changed every day and was delicious! We highly recommend staying here when visiting Unawatuna

One recommendation for improvement is providing a water refill station to reduce plastic waste

Fantastic stay in Unawatuna! We had a chalet room right at the top of the Rumassala mountain. The staff were the best thing about this stay they were fantastic, super accommodating and friendly. Our iron didn’t work so in 5 mins they got me a new one, we had a washing machine so I asked where to get some detergent as all our clothes were weary/dirty from travelling and when I came back to my room they had left some detergent outside the door. They went above and beyond!

Only a small issue we had was the light for the air con was the brightest possible light, and illuminated the whole room. My partner had to stick an envelope we had our travel money in over it and it still shone through slightly. This was only a small issue tho everything else was fantastic!

The villas are really luxurious, they are spacious with lots of amenities such as a kitchen and a comfortable bed. The location is peaceful and the staff were very friendly. The A/C works really well. There is 24/7 security so we felt secure. Any orders for drinks or food were made on whatsapp which was handy. I didn't try the food but my sister said it was really nice.

The location is great for peacefulness but you do need to organise tuk tuks for all excursions as the roads are not really suitable for walking. The breakfast was quite poor compared to other places we stayed in Sri Lanka. I think a menu style breakfast with orders made in advance on Whatsapp would work better rather than a buffet. We went out for breakfast as there are gorgeous places in Unawatuna. There were lots of ants in our bathroom all the time which was not too nice. My sisters room did not have this problem so it seems to be just our room.

Thank you to everyone at Villa Rumassala for making our final nights in Sri Lanka so special. The hotel itself is in a beautiful setting away from the busy Main Street. The pool area is beautiful and they have 2 rabbits that live on site which are very friendly and cute! We stayed in a standard double room which was very nice. The bedding was very soft and comfortable. There is a shared kitchen between a few rooms to make things like tea & coffee, it also has a washing machine, clothes rail, iron and ironing board to dry very handy. This area is very clean and well looked after. Nearby to the pool there is a running machine and a multi-gym machine. Special mention to the staff who helped make my partners birthday very special with decorations and a lovely cake in our room Thank you 😀!

Breakfast could be improved slightly for the value.

The stay was planned very last minute but still managed to be absolutely perfect! The team was very helpful, friendly and kind. We were greeted with cold lime soda on arrival. Our room was a dream! Spacious, clean, bed was very comfortable. There is a also kitchen equipped with the basic facilities. The view is beautiful, looking over the pool and so many palm trees. It’s not on the beach, so either you walk to Unawatuna Beach (around 30 min) or you can make arrangements with the tuktuk driver that works for the hotel. The location itself is very peaceful and quiet so if you are looking to relax fully, this is the place to be. The pool area was also lovely and clean. Also, three rabbits hopping around was a pleasant surprise :) A short 4-5 min walk leads to the main street where there is a market, bakery, a bit further down a bank. All in all, it was absolutely wonderful and would have loved to stay longer!

The place itself is indeed Sri-Lankan luxury by its look! We had a very specious room with large shower and kitchen. Everything was clean. There is a very nice and clean pool Inside the hotel surrounded by a few trees and a nicely decorated wall. The territory is fully private behind a gate with a guard. The place is very quiet and we had a very good sleep there. Mattress was super comfy (not too soft), linens clean - absolutely no complaints. Note that if you have a baby, then you probably need a tuk-tuk for a short 5 minutes drive to the Unawatuna beach, because there is a 1km of the main road to pass which is very uncomfortable due to lack of side walks (not a hotel’s fault indeed). The personnel were very attentive and nice.

We definitely expected more from the breakfast for such a high price. It was quite basic and lacking local products. We were greeted with a cheap instant coffee on arrival unread of some fruit juice. What a shame :( There were also problems with the shower. The water was draining too slowly, but most importantly we had no warm water during the evening hours for 2 out of 3 nights we spent there. This is unacceptable for a “luxury” hotel even by Sri Lanka standards, sorry 😞

The property is brand new, very well decorated and clean. Since it’s outside the main road, it’s also very quiet and peaceful. The owner and staff are the friendlier and caring you can find - ready to assist any time - who also prepare delicious and varied breakfast every day. We booked the place for two nights and ended up staying six. WiFi works is extremely fast, which is very convenient if you have to work and do VTC. Also the rooms are much bigger than advertised, they have a separate kitchen and a washing machine! We would definitely go back to this peaceful hidden gem!
