The rooms are lovely, and our bathroom had a walk-in shower. The hotel is located in a walking area. There are lots of dining options close by. The staff at the hotel was very cordial and helpful.

The rooms are amazing and have GREAT air conditioning. This was the only hotel we stayed in Switzerland where the air conditioning actually worked well. The waterfall shower is amazing and so relaxing. The pillow selection and the bed are extremely comfortable and the blackout curtains really black out light.

The parking is expensive (40 CHF) and the parking garage is not at the same location as the hotel - although it is very near. Also, that whole area is considered "pedestrian" and you will find it hard to get into those streets to park in their garage. I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone travelling without renting a car and who would prefer walking/using public transport.

Hotel Krone is situated right in the heart of the old town within a short walk to the main railway station and many restaurants/cafe's. Our deluxe double was spacious, very clean, well presented and air-conditioned which was absolutely essential as the temperatures were in excess of 34 degrees each day of our three night stay, the public areas however were not. There was both a coffee machine and kettle with an ample supply of coffee and tea. Hotel Krone was the last hotel we stayed in during our five week stay in Switzerland and I would say that the breakfast rated as one of the poorest on offer. That said we would certainly stay at Hotel Krone Winterthur again as it was well situated and very clock to where we waned to be.

Sadly a good hotel was let down by the staff who were almost all grumpy, unsmiling, unfriendly and looked very unhappy. The only exception were the room cleaning staff and one young gentleman at the reception.

We stayed multiple nights at this boutique hotel located in the altstadt. Each night we had a different room selection to know which room was best for our return visit in November. We loved the bed and linens. Opens up to two lovely coffee shops outside in the little plaza. On site bar and restaurant had great food options. Easy 5 min walk from the Bahnhof and a Coop. The standard Queen room is sufficient; however, the larger king gives more room

It would be nice to have a air condition unit that didn’t have a governor on it, limiting the ability for fresh, circulating air. A standup rotating fan would be a nice addition for room circulation.

Comfortable overnight stay after long haul flight from Australia to Zurich. Easy level walk (apart from cobblestones!) along Untertor from main Winterthur railway station. Friendly and helpful staff, spacious room and bathroom, comfortable bed, very quiet at night even with the windows open (Winterthur seems to turn off its chiming clock until 6 am), good shower, heated towelrail. Kettle and coffee making facilities in room. Excellent breakfast with coffee made to order, and catering well for dietary requirements, including gluten free and vegan. Appreciated the Easter Day chocolate on the pillow, and also the apples at reception and the offer of a bottle of water when leaving. Large Coop supermarket at the railway station with plenty of takeaway food options.

Long check-in process, being asked to enter information manually into ipad at Reception, even though most had already been given to Booking.com. Found the duvets on the bed too warm and did not want to turn on the air conditioning to compensate.

We struggled to get in to the building when we arrived (wish they had at least one overnight staff) but once that was achieved the management & staff were extremely apologetic and helpful and went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. The room was large, lots of outlets, the bed is one of the more comfortable we’ve ever had in a hotel, the food is top-quality, the area is central, and the pet package was the best we’ve ever seen! We are in Winterthur a couple times each year and we will definitely come back to this hotel.

What did I like about the Sorell Hotel Krone? In one word: EVERYTHING! This hotel is in the heart of the Aldstadt of Winterthur, an easy 5 minute walk from the train station. We were there as a stopover night on our Swiss Christmas Market tour and were we ever glad we chose this beautiful hotel to lay our heads. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My room overlooked a quiet courtyard. It was spacious and well appointed including complimentary bottled water. The bathroom was large, towels also large and fluffy and the shower was wonderful! (We were all trying to figure out how we could take it home with us.) And then there was the bed--with wonderful smooth linens and oh, so comfortable pillows and duvet. Breakfast was a veritable feast with meats, cheeses, cucumbers, jogurts, cereals, breads, jams, even scrambled eggs with bacon & sausage. Checkout was smooth and easy, again with very friendly staff. The Winterthur Christmas market was an additional pleasant surprise--it was quite a nice one that we enjoyed visiting.

The room was clean, quiet (as per our request) and comfortable. The location was great for Winterthur, just next to the main shopping street while the train station is only within a few minutes' walk. There were many restaurants nearby. Staff, including Thomas, Petra and Jasmine, were friendly and helpful. We also loved the fact that Winterthur is a beautiful city and the hotel is in the old town close to parks.

We were satisfied. If there were anything that could be improved, it was probably the variety of breakfast as well as the size of the bathroom and its temperature during winter. Nevertheless, it was still a great deal and we would definitely return if we happen to visit Winterthur again.

Our arrival day was my husband's birthday and, as result of my contacting them on this topic, they very nicely decorated the room to greet himself for his birthday.

Our taxi from the airport had a hard time finding their way to the hotel because it is in the middle of the pedestrian area of Winterthur. The taxi driver was not familiar with the center of town and thus had to ask locals of how to best get to the hotel with the taxi. Seems that the GPS info had not helped him much ...

A nice spacious room with a sofa, everything in the room was of a really good quality. There was a decent selection at breakfast & once again of a really good quality. A nice little touch was a chocolate on the pillow each day. It has one of the best showers we have ever had in a hotel anywhere. A great location being in the old town but still close to the train station. Winterthur is a really nice city with a lovely old town & some good bakeries, also short walk to a couple of decent size supermarkets. Winterthur is also an excellent place to stay that is very handy to the international airport & to Zurich, we also found it handy for a day trip to the lovely city of Konstanz just over the border in Germany.

Courtyard view was not really a courtyard, just 3 boring walls but room was nice so it was only a small thing.
