The room was clean, quiet (as per our request) and comfortable. The location was great for Winterthur, just next to the main shopping street while the train station is only within a few minutes' walk. There were many restaurants nearby. Staff, including Thomas, Petra and Jasmine, were friendly and helpful. We also loved the fact that Winterthur is a beautiful city and the hotel is in the old town close to parks.

We were satisfied. If there were anything that could be improved, it was probably the variety of breakfast as well as the size of the bathroom and its temperature during winter. Nevertheless, it was still a great deal and we would definitely return if we happen to visit Winterthur again.

What did I like about the Sorell Hotel Krone? In one word: EVERYTHING! This hotel is in the heart of the Aldstadt of Winterthur, an easy 5 minute walk from the train station. We were there as a stopover night on our Swiss Christmas Market tour and were we ever glad we chose this beautiful hotel to lay our heads. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My room overlooked a quiet courtyard. It was spacious and well appointed including complimentary bottled water. The bathroom was large, towels also large and fluffy and the shower was wonderful! (We were all trying to figure out how we could take it home with us.) And then there was the bed--with wonderful smooth linens and oh, so comfortable pillows and duvet. Breakfast was a veritable feast with meats, cheeses, cucumbers, jogurts, cereals, breads, jams, even scrambled eggs with bacon & sausage. Checkout was smooth and easy, again with very friendly staff. The Winterthur Christmas market was an additional pleasant surprise--it was quite a nice one that we enjoyed visiting.

A nice spacious room with a sofa, everything in the room was of a really good quality. There was a decent selection at breakfast & once again of a really good quality. A nice little touch was a chocolate on the pillow each day. It has one of the best showers we have ever had in a hotel anywhere. A great location being in the old town but still close to the train station. Winterthur is a really nice city with a lovely old town & some good bakeries, also short walk to a couple of decent size supermarkets. Winterthur is also an excellent place to stay that is very handy to the international airport & to Zurich, we also found it handy for a day trip to the lovely city of Konstanz just over the border in Germany.

Courtyard view was not really a courtyard, just 3 boring walls but room was nice so it was only a small thing.

Not sure if we weren't the brightest that day, but reaching the hotel by car felt like an escape room The navigation apps won't let you navigate straight to the hotel you need to drive into "pedestrian only" street in order to reach the hotel, with a small exception sign in german explaining hotel guests are allowed to enter with car, not very intuitive Hotel kindly send explanations and map with arrival instructions, in our experience we wish they were slightly more detailed I'd instruct guests to navigate to the old town entrance (pedestrian only zone entrance), and add road signs with the directions of the hotels from this spot

+ Petra was AMAZING. We got talking to her when checking out and she was incredibly warm, friendly and made us feel completely at home. Her openness and welcoming nature actually made our trip special, so please pass on our thanks! + Bed was incredibly comfy + Rituals amenities in the bathroom + Breakfast had a pretty good variety. Homemade Birchermüesli always a plus!

- 25 CHF for a tiny bottle of wine seems pretty excessive... even for a room minibar. Not a dealbreaker though. - Had to wait 5 mins to get a breakfast plate, as they had all run out... (luckily the customised coffee brought to our table made up for it)

Lovely staff, fantastic location. Clean, traveled with a 6 month infant and the hotel met all our families needs.

Unfortunately our air conditioning was broken, it was shortly after 10pm when we found out and there was nothing which could have been done, asked service staff to escalate the issue the management and we were informed that there is no night manager after 10pm. When travelling with an infant during a hot spell of weather I didn’t think this was good enough but in fairness to the helpful service staff an extra fan was given to us. It was the only issue we had with our stay.

It's only a short walk through the pedestrian area to reach the hotel. The room I was given was at the back side of the hotel and therefor very quite. The room itself was not big but wonderfully comfortable. I was just thinking how old the KRONE actually is. you see it in the stairs. Beautiful breakfast and super service.

Indoor swimming pool. Free Champagne for breakfast. Free Canapes and drinks early evening. I hope you have immediately noticed that I was joking. This place is superb, nothing more needed.

Central location, and also very close to the train station. Clean rooms with comfortable bedding, small office table and everything you need for tea/coffee. Friendly staff and great coffee

We arrived on Sunday, so we had to call the hotel to get the pin to get inside the building. No one was there. It’s not very convenient for the international travelers who had to buy data to call

I had a room on the fourth floor. It was quiet, big, clean, with a very comfy bed and pillows so I could sleep well. There was a big work desk - nice, if you are travelling for work. I got the welcome bottle of a still water. I liked the electric kettle and the possibility to make a tea in the room, but there was also a nespresso machine for a coffee. The bathroom was big, clean, had a huge shower and there were also Rituals cosmetics so I felt very relaxed in it. The breakfast was varied and tasty. The whole service was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel. I will come back again.

I could not adjust the heating so sometimes it was too hot in the room.
