The hostel has a very nice, positive vibe and puts emphasis on sustainability which I like. Kara, the manager, is super friendly and helpful. She gave me a lot of tips and information for things to do in/around Hualien and also made sure that my room change went as smooth and easy as possible. I've stayed in two different private rooms (because they were already booked for my other days) at this hostel and both were spacious, clean and the beds were super cosy and comfortable. The location is convenient - close to the train station and walking distance to the city center.

During the day you hear trains and airplanes passing by but during the night it's all quiet which is more important.

It was a lovely hostel with a great location. It was a bit unfortunate that there was no one at the hostel when I arrived around the time they said they would be there in the chat (6 pm or so). Luckily the key was there and another guest helped me find my room because we couldn't figure out what was written on the key. When I was having dinner later on the hostel messaged me that they were there for check in. So I had to go back for the check in. The bathroom and room were not my favorite but maybe I was spoiled by the amazing hostels I stayed at before in other cities in Taiwan. Which were cleaner and nicer looking than some 4 star hotels. I only saw someone at the reception 2 times during my stay. Everyone is different but I prefer to stay in hostels or hotels over airbnb so I can ask the receptionist questions about what to do and where to go and such. In this case this wasn't possible since I only saw someone when checking in and the day before check out. The bed was fine for me and my roommates were nice too. Overall my stay was decent.

The location is very good, only ten minutes walk from the train station and close to plenty of restaurants and convenience stores. Everything is thought of here and I overall found it very comfortable and great value for the money. Very clean and spacious rooms.

Just two small things. There was no hand soap in our bathroom which I think was not very cleanly. It was also very loud because of being right near the train tracks and also with the jets flying overhead (that can’t be helped though more of a warning to bring ear plugs).

Very good location as it is close to Hualien's main station. The room i got was quite spacious. I wish I could stay there for longer as I would have time to use the extra space I had in my room. The bathroom is also quite big. Overall I say I was very comfortable during my stay and it felt like home. The only thing that I would say is on the negative side is the noise coming from the train and the fighter jets every morning. But earplugs solved it for me. I'd definitely book it again.

Hostels can be very similar. This one stuck out because it felt like home. The staff was very attentive and Kara who greeted me and was the receptionist on duty, made the place feel very special with her amazing smile and friendly personality. She also speaks fluent English and was super helpful with tips for activities. I wanted to stay several nights but the place was booked. I see why it would be. This place is a “must return” on my Taiwan list. It’s a short walk to the train station. The bus to Taroko is very close. The hostel is clean and they have a very nice community area where you can work, make friends, have dinners and read the many notes on the wall from previous guests. They also have maps for sightseeing spots. Washing machine is available too.

Every was fine.

10 minutes walk from the train station.

I was on the 3rd floor, no elevator. Only one toilet together with a shower in the room. No other toilet on the floors. If someone takes a long shower and I need to get to the toilet, I needed to step two floors down. Very inconvenient

Nice lady at reception, very talkative and helpful. She helps you organise what you intend to do in Hualien. Great rooms, comfortable beds and A/C. Shower and toilet in the room is a plus. It's more helpful. It's clean and big. Close to the train/bus station (10 min walking) and to everything to visit in Hualien. Free water, coffee and tea all day.

There's no elevator, so keep in mind you will have to climb the stairs to your floor (3 floors maximum, 1 floor minimum).

The hostel is close to the station and therefore very convenient. It was clean and my room was very spacious. I extended another night therefore. The host was overly friendly, remembered all names of his guests, and gave good advice about the city. Damon always checked if everyone was feeling fine or needed some support. He also helped with luggage, bike rentals etc. And had had an online city map prepared with everything you need to know about the city.

It is close to the station, so you will hear some noise of the trains but I got used to it quickly

The hostel is close to the train station and bus station. The room was large and had a cozy seating area next to the windows, eco-friendly shower gel and shampoo were provided. The host is a really nice and talkative person, always up for a chat and also introduced me to other guests.

Since there is no shower curtain and the shower is located directly opposite and close to the bathroom door, the beautiful wooden door got mouldy and smelled bad.

The Bayhouse Comfortel in Hualein was a perfect stay for exploring Taroko Gorge. It was an 8 minute walk from the train station, and despite being so close to it there was no noise. The staff was extremely kind, gave great recommendations and was very thoughtful when walking around the hostel. The rooms were clean and the kitchen prep area was very useful. They even had a washing machine and drying lines which was great for getting things clean or drying out after the rain.

The dorm bed I stayed in was very hard.
