Tucked away in a vibrant neighborhood full of dining options, this boutique hotel is perfectly located between two MRT stations, making it a convenient base for exploring. The rooms are spacious, offering a dining area and ultra-comfortable beds, alongside a large bathroom complete with a high-tech Japanese toilet. The staff here are exceptionally welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. A unique feature is the cat room, a hit with our kids, where they enjoyed petting the resident cats. The hotel also generously provides complimentary snacks, drinks, and even face masks, a thoughtful touch that was much appreciated after our long flight. We were so taken with the hotel's charm and service that we chose to return here at the end of our Taiwan trip, even though it was a bit more expensive than our original plan. This decision speaks volumes about the hotel's ability to make a memorable impression on its guests.

The hotel is on the top floor of the building. There is a hostel-like atmosphere without any dormitories. All rooms are different and individually furnished. The catering with free snacks and drinks was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is centrally located for all the sights and there is also untouristy Taipei to discover in the immediate vicinity, traditional old-fashioned breakfast joint No. 28號, Lane 144, Jilin Road around a few corners was a highlight!

At night the house cats are present instead of staff, but that's ok.

The room was very spacious and it fitted 4 persons with space for luggage. The mini bar was complimentary and it get topped up each time during housekeeping. The reception was very helpful and they offered assistance in booking airport transfer and also suggestions for local sightseeing. The location was very central and it is a short and relaxing walk to 2 train stations. There is a 7-11 on the ground floor and Family Mart opposite so it is very convenient.

The dryer did not work and we were told to shake the machine as the coins got stuck. We tried again the next day and true enough, it didn't work but we shake the machine and it started. Just a bit of inconvenience as we have to bring back the damp clothes and set aside time again the next day to dry them.

Location was great though getting a bus in the rain from the main train station wasn't fun. Staff were fantastic and the hotel was a nice boutique experience in the big city.

I failed to properly do my research properly and booked one of the rooms without a window - which while nice and spacious made me feel like I was staying on the inside of a cruise ship or a space shuttle. Though you can sit and have coffee or breakfast out in the well-lit foyer if you want some morning sun. My bad, otherwise a great hotel, with great tea & coffee making faciilities (and of course, cats!)

Chill Roof was such a gem! Walking distance to the heart of Zhongshan and cozy, well maintained vibes. My room was huge and airy with lots of windows and a nice shower and clawfoot tub - other rooms I was looking at in this price range didn’t come close. The staff were super friendly and the cat room (!!), free snacks, Malin + Goetz products, and plenty of umbrellas available when it rained were nice touches. I saw they offered but didn’t get to take advantage of partnership with local studio offering yoga classes etc. Would def stay again!

Stayed here twice (at beginning and end of the holiday). Staff were warm and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Great decor, lovely bathrooms, spa toilets, super-comfortable beds, water-dispenser in the foyer - and a cat-room :} Good central location, shortish walk from either of two MRT stations. Nice parks just round the corner, 7/11 next door, plenty of cafes, restaurants and bakeries nearby. Useful having access to coin-operated washing machine/tumble drier.

Very cute room, good space and bathroom. Great location, near 2 MRT stations (3 different lines), right next to a 7Eleven and plenty of other shops They offer some snacks and drinks and provide a reusable water bottle instead of giving plastic ones.

I thought I would love it but actually felt bad about the 2 cats. They are confined into one room, full of toys and with access to a window, but not enough to run around at all. I'm not sure how much human interactions they get as the room is closed from 6pm until 9 or 10am, so I would think most guests are out during the open hours.

Cats, a spacious room, easy check-in/out, all the service is pretty good.

Sometimes you can hear noises from the bathroom. Looks like a building issue with the water supply, not sure whether the hotel can do anything about that. Unfortunately we were not prepared so we left the bathroom door open overnight and got woken by the noise in the middle of the night.

The hotel was small (just a few rooms on one floor) but very modern with great amenities. The room was very clean and was spacious, with plenty of room for my suitcase and belongings. The bed was comfortable. Being on the top/11th floor of the building, it was quiet. WiFi worked well and having a dedicated desk and chair really helped with some work I needed to do. I liked the location, which was convenient to various shops, cafes, parks, and the MRT; and I felt very safe there. I didn’t use the laundry but it’s great they have it. The cats were very cute and sweet.

There were no windows in the room, which is great for jetlag but rough otherwise. Also, the front desk hours are quite limited (9:30-6:30) and I was out each day during those hours, so I actually never met anyone in my 4 nights there until I checked out (and the woman who checked me out just took my keys and didn’t ask about my stay, offer to help me with a taxi, etc.) It would be great if the front desk had longer hours so we could ask questions. The ledge the bed sits on took some getting used to and made getting out of bed in the middle of the night to use the bathroom a little challenging. But these concerns are all minor and I’d definitely stay again.

We were quire satisfied with this whimsical property. Once you get past the sketchy street level entry, you find yourself at the 11th floor and all changes. Chill Roof is an eclectic and comfortable, friendly space. Very quiet. Great shower and linens, well set up bathroom. Nice touch have free, although limited mini-bar and snacks. A plus to have coin operated laundry as well. Once inside, felt secure and safe.

The bed. Japanese style on a large platform maybe 14" off the floor that took up most of the room's floor space. It would have been betters to walk around the bed platform on the true floor. Double bed size mattress rather thin and uncomfortable b/c its literally on the floor. Staff didn't have another mattress to add but was able to add a quilt under the mattress that helped only a little. We mostly got used to it, but would not recommend a stay of more than a night or two with this set up.
