We stayed at the Metropolis Hotel in Taipei during a long layover on our way back from China. A typhoon had hit, and although we suspected our flight would be canceled, we didn’t receive confirmation until two hours after the scheduled departure. Knowing the situation might get tricky, I asked the gentleman at the front desk to hold our room in case we needed to return in the middle of the night. Sure enough, after a rough night at the airport, we came back to the hotel at 4:00 AM, and our room was waiting for us. The staff was incredibly understanding, kind, and helpful during a very stressful situation. Their care and professionalism made all the difference. The Metropolis Hotel is an excellent choice for anyone visiting the area, and the service we received was truly top-notch. Highly recommended!

This hotel is clearly not new--- the location, the furniture, the interior decoration, the building, even the name of the hotel itself reveal that it has a history for at least 15 years or more. However it can be seen that the owner trys hard to keep the hotel "up-to-date" and tries hard to keep it clean and comfortable. During my 1-night stay I got a *very big* room with newly refreshed (and clean) bathroom. All the facilities are available. The staff is very helpful, the parking lot is big, the Wifi is stable, the breakfast is above average. In summary this is an enjoyable stay. The price is very attractive and I will consider to revisit next time.

1. There are very few restaurants nearby. I spend some time for finding my dinner. 2. The breakfast is above average. However for the coffee in the breakfast, I strongly suggest that the owner use ceramic coffee mugs or coffee cups rather than the current plastic cups. It costs almost nothing to buy 100 ceramic white coffee mugs (compared to refurbishment of the bathrooms), but for diners a cup of grounded coffee in a white ceramic mug at the beginning of the day is far, far better than a cup of coffee in a plastic cup!

Spacious room and bathroom. comfy beds. the hotel is located in a non-busy area. so it's quiet. It's around 15 minutes from Taoyuan International Airport. the nearest convenience store is around 500 meters. We had a small miscommunication on our check-out time. on our booking, it stated that the check-out time is at 12pm. but we got a call the next day telling us that it was at 11am. we were told to pay an extra NT200 for late check-out. tried to explain our booking situation but the nice lady we talked to can't speak/understand English much. so we just agreed to pay the NT200. but later when we check-out we were informed that we don't have to pay extra since our booking stated 12pm as check-out time. since the lady can't speak English, she asked someone to write the message in English on a piece of paper so we can understand better. we really appreciate the gesture.

The staff was very helpful, although they didn't speak too good English. The value for money was quite okay.

The hotel was nice, but everything is a bit old. The carpet, especially, was old and smelly. There were unpleasant odors in certain places of the hotel. The bathrooms for instance, were huge, and mostly empty, with just a tiny bath tub in a corner.

- Cleanliness, although quite retro (from the late 80s look. We kind of like it!) it’s impressive that the facilities are well maintained.

- breakfast. Best, skip it. - if a trip to Taipei is more on the agenda, better off staying away from Taoyuan. The commute isn’t the most desirable.

We arrived pretty late to the hotel and had to leave very early (4am) to catch a flight. The staff was very accommodating and was fluent in Japanese and English. They called for a taxi for us. The room itself was clean and spacious. Would stay again!

Bathroom needs to install shower curtain to keep floor from getting wet and slippery, otherwise, it is likely to cause injury.

Even their name is motropolis hotel but the location is a bit far from TRA.
