This hotel is quite good value. The staff were friendly and the pith-helmeted doormen/keepers of the classic cars were especially eager to please going above and beyond. They provided an excellent face of the hotel. the building is an interesting take on colonial architecture though it is in no way a genuine historic building. The spa is excellent.

The entertainment options were a little limited. A DVD library in this day and age seems a little anachronistic. I'd rather be able to stream from my device to a smart TV. The globe in my bedside lamp blew twice. This is a minor inconvenience but it's reflected in the low score I've given for lighting.

The hotel is a true "boutique hotel"; it is of a reasonable size, well designed in the elegant Thai style. It is well located, in a quiet area of Chiang Mai. It is far enough from the tohu-bohu of the city, close enough to reach the city centre conveniently in a short time by tuck-tuck or taxi, or in a comfortable walk of 20 minutes. The hotel also provides free transport to the city centre in a vintage Mercedes that is a wonderful experience in itself. There are restaurants of various quality around the corner in addition to a wonderful daily night market, which provides not only artisanal items but also a diversity of souvenirs and many food stalls. All staff is exceptionally professional, friendly and helpful at all times. We were treated with courtesy and respect from our arrival to our departure, each staff member was generous in making our stay most comfortable, which did not mean to go beyond the obvious to made us feel welcome. The rooms are well appointed, a little outdated in their decoration maybe, but the Thai flair was everywhere, which we personally appreciated, given our wish to experience the culture rather than international atmosphere. We sincerely valued the comfort, the cleanness, the equipment and the view from the balcony. The king bed was very comfortable, bedlinens, towels and bathrobes of very good quality. Breakfast was served, both buffet and menu, providing a range of food, both Thai and international. We do not share some reviews on internet that complain about the lack of diversity; we enjoyed every of our 10 breakfasts and never felt that anything was missing. The bar is worth a visit, inside and outside on the veranda; it is very well decorated and the range of drinks on offer is generous. There is a friendly and experienced tour operator on site. We booked a tour with him and were not disappointed: while using a common itinerary, it also provided us with some extras upon our request.

We liked everything in fact. Nevertheless, we can provide some areas for improvement: The swimming pool is well presented and clean. However, it does not benefit from the sun and the water is very cold. A cold plunge is nice after a long day of sightseeing, but this was too cold for us. In addition, the lounge chairs should be provided with comfortable mattresses. When it comes to the restaurant, guests must book 24 hours in advance and select from 3 or 4 menus at the time of the booking. Room service is closed after 4.30pm. While the context of the limitations is understandable, and there are many restaurants around the corner, we’d loved to eat lightly at the hotel on some evenings rather than walking to restaurants outside.

I am not sure how I initially found out about Ping Nakara Hotel but I am so happy I did. My friend and I had the best time staying here. Our room was very large and comfortable; the pool is lovely and was amazing for a cold dip on a hot day; and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They have a van and then two really cool antique cars they will drive you to the center of town in. The breakfast was great, and included items you could order like eggs or french toast, and also a buffet of beautiful fruits, pastries, cheese, etc. The hotel provides water, juice and snacks in your room, as well as some treats in a parlor off the lobby. We spontaneously hired a guide, Noom, who happened to be at the hotel one morning. He spent several hours with us and was really really great. Ping Nakara made our time in Chiang Mai so wonderful and we truly felt like special guests. I highly recommend!

There was nothing negative about this hotel or our experience!

A very beautiful hotel. Our room was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable mattress. It was nice to have a private balcony. The pool is clean and the open area outside the cafe and the sit-out near the library bar is green and peaceful. The bartender was very accommodating, allowing us to bring our own champagne and snacks for a 60th birthday celebration. They arranged a small cake on the house. The car service for nearby locations is a great service. All the staff are very polite in true Thai style, and are ready to go out of their way to help.

The fridge and tea/coffee were cumbersome to access as they were inside the wardrobe and the luggage rack prevented easy access. Room service is only available until 4 pm and the restaurant menu is quite limited and the same as the room service menu. This was a problem only because my spouse was very ill on our last day and room service would have been convenient.

Unfailingly wonderful service from manager and staff. Everyone on the staff speaks good English, and they are flexible and helpful. I was there for two weeks, and when I sent out my laundry to a service, it was typically delivered when I wasn’t present. Problem? Not at all. They not only accepted it, they paid the laundry bill for me, and i reimbursed. I needed to buy flowers for a friend. They of course could help me with that. Staff selection and training obviously excellent. Breakfast also first-rate. Buffet of pastries and Thai fruit, with hot dishes, both Thai and Western, available to order. Breakfast is outdoors, and overlooks the pool (gorgeous). The beautiful British colonial architecture engenders, for me at least, a slightly nostalgic atmosphere of an earlier and much different time. Location is excellent. A bit removed from the chaotic Night Market area, but close enough to make all Chiang Mai attractions easily accessible.

Everything. Especially the food, and the staffs here are perfect. We arrived at the hotel almost 8:30 and the staff still waited for us until we finished the dinner we booked, that is later than their working time. However the staffs still were very patient, and chef’s cooking impressed us deeply! Delicious in house food! Besides, the breakfast is beyond our expectations- various and tasty. The Spa is very convenient, we booked twice. It made me had a good sleep. The staffs here are also very helpful and kind. We had a wonderful family time during CNY and it is definitely worthy for us to come back again!

Loved the old colonial style- excellent service- complimentary ride in cycle rickshaw and the cream coloured old style Mercedes( what a treat - beautiful car) the size of the rooms was generous- complimentary daily replaced snacks, home made toffees and soft drinks, free bottled water( as much as you needed) - the Library with hidden door- beautiful cosy bar. Staff were so polite and extremely helpful and courteous.

The evening menu: there were 4 set menus that you had to pre order the day before. Was disappointed in the presentation and style as although the food was ok, was expecting a more ‘up market’ style food and presentation for the price paid. Maybe this would encourage more people to use the restaurant in the evening if the food was just a bit different to the food on the ‘high street’ .

We fell in love with this pretty colonial boutique hotel, very personalised service, it’s not too big hotel but definitely room and bathroom are huge, hardly you can find any room size now. I personally love the toiletries pouch provided! Staff are amazing from the doormen, reception and kitchen staff everyone are so nice they makes you feel at home. Thank you to Khun Nok, Vanessa, Primrose, Kitkat, Ying and of course also the rest for making our stay very memorable (apologies we didn’t get everyone name). Shuttle service are provided to nearby area, highly recommended if you’re traveling to Chiang Mai.

We didn’t want to leave!

This hotel is full of history and the staff is AMAZING! Overall, one of my favorite hotels out of all of my trips. The hotel is in a good location and often times you are able to get a free ride from the hotel to nearby attractions like the night bazar. We requested rooms that were close together and were given rooms that were adjoining which was great. The amenities were great as well. The breakfast was delicious and something we got each morning before starting our day. The hotel bar also had great cocktails. While there, we booked spa services although we recommend planning ahead as reservations do fill up. While traveling with family, I would feel safe staying there alone as a female as there is 24/7 security.

What a fabulous hotel! After a not so good experience in Bangkok, we were so relieved to walk into the friendly and welcoming Ping Nakara lobby. I was so overcome with emotion to, not only have such a warm welcome, but staff went out of their way to help us take our bags to our room and to help us during our stay in each and every way. The room itself was very comfortable and had all the necessary things to make our stay as comfortable as possible. It was great being able to sit out on our little verandah overlooking the trees and watching the squirrels run up and down the branches in the morning. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was absolutely amazing – the pressure was so good that it was a massage in itself. The breakfast was delicious and we were able to sit looking out to the pool or with greenery around us. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel again for my next stay in Chiang Mai.
