I stayed here solo 6yrs ago, location great, staff lively chatty & friendly helpful with all needed - which is the reason I booked here again with my husband - very quiet, just saw 1 staff member, rooms more tired, aircon wast included just a fan, extra 200thb per night for it, price in my opinion this time round seemed expensive for what you get unfortunately - eateries & bars at the end of the street, be mindful if ypu have an early bus youll probably have to walk approx 2km to bus station as no taxis about & grab doesn't start till after 6am and can be difficult after then too -

Comfy, clean rooms in a quiet location on the river and short walk to restaurants and shops. Close to train station and easy stroll to night market. Bus station is a bike taxi ride away if you've got bags. Worth paying a little extra for a room with A/C. I spent first night in raft room with only a fan - incredibly hot and stuffy. Staff speak a little English but were very smiley and always happy to help. Nice communal area to sit in and enjoy the peace and quiet. Would stay again and happy to recommend.

A wee fridge in the room to keep water and drinks cool would be good but definitely not a deal breaker not having one.

I accidentally arrived a day late for my booking. (There is no way Booking.com's algorithm should have allowed me two bookings on the same night at two different hotels without at least flagging it). But the Tamarind wasn't full and the staff let me stay. The floating room on the water was great. The seat outside was the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by.

The neighbouring bars up at the street seemed to have a lot of prostitution going on. I realise that's common in Thailand. But it was more in your face than elsewhere that I saw.

It amazing to stay on the river kwai! The raft house is floating on the river but doesn't really move too much or get bumpy when boats go by. On the porch out the front you can sit and watch the river. The shower is powerful and has hot water. The host was exceptionally nice and kind, there is free coffee, crackers and warm water but you can buy ice from 711 and store it in the fridge freezer.

With just a fan it was a little hot but I booked the cheaper fan room so I can't complain!

I lived on a raft. Room have enough space. There is no breakfast, but you can find enough food close by. And there is a 24 hours open shop straight next to the hotel gate. View from the raft is perfect. You are living at the main tourist party road, but hotel is far enough from the street that you do not hear the screaming of drunk horny tourists.

Something you need to be aware of, is that the floors direct sounds very well. You can not hear what people speak in their room, but for sure you will hear their every step. But thats just part of the wonders of living on a raft.

The common areas are really cozy, besides the views to the river. It makes your experience really peaceful. The manager of the guesthouse is a lovely guy who look after you during your stay. It’s close to everything and the restaurant around the place are really good We were here during the wet season and the place was really quiet, it was we were looking for!!

we had load music from next door .... which the hotel reported to the police who then spoke to the people involved with the music ... so the hotel did every thing they could to resolve the noise.....thank you

The place has all the facilities you'll need. They are supe accomodating and friendly. The place is quiet, yet at meters from the bustle of the touristy road, and near the train station. Complimentary coffee, water, biscuit... lovely seating area in front of the river and a helpfull, relaxed staff make this place a really lovely stay.

The beds are a bit hard. It was alright for me but may be too hard for some.. Maybe they could put some hooks in the room? Otherwise no complaints. They party hard on the other side of the river so music is quite loud till 12 o'clock. Then peace and quiet. Loved the place!

Everything! The location was central for walking, but away from the busy street so very quiet. The facilities were extremely clean and comfortable. We loved the comunal area for eating. It was a beautiful view of the river. We booked a double with a fan and we were so happy to have operable windows with screens. The fan was perfect, not too loud and very efficient. We hardly needed hot water because the weather had us wanting cold, but there was an easy to use hot water system for the shower. Free refillable drinking water, coffee and chocolate in the morning was also deeply appreciated. The hosts were available if we needed anything but left us to do our own thing. They really respected our privacy in their space. The value was perfect for what we received. One of the BEST stays we’ve had on Booking.

I spent seven nights in a room on the raft house. Such an incredible view of the river and mountains in the distance. My stay was very peaceful and relaxing. The room was basic, but it had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Hiring a moped through the guesthouse was as easy as pie. I was even collected at the entrance by the rental business. Just outside the accommodation is a 7/11 and many bars and restaurants are around that location too. A thoroughly enjoyable stay, amazing location, I can certainly recommend the Tamarind to anyone wishing to visit Kanchanaburi.
