Marketed as an “eco-resort,” but there are no recycling bins and they insist on giving small plastic water bottles instead of allowing refills Rooms are not very spacious, with only a single open space; design is stylish but sometimes impractical (e.g., in our room, the sink faucet didn’t align with the large, beautiful basin) Very inflexible with bookings and refused to change dates Although advertised as “kids stay free,” there’s an extra nightly charge for their beds Eventually it was quite expensive comparing the alternatives

Everything!! From start to finish our stay at The Mud was 5*. We loved the location; compared to the rest of the island we found the west coast was the perfect mix of chilled out and artistic. We loved the local towns and restaurants as well as the ease of getting to the pier to our next leg of our trip to Krabi. The staff were always smiling and very helpful! They really went out their way to make our honeymoon the best experience possible. The food both at breakfast and dinner was always delicious and served with a smile. Although I recommend trying a couple of the local restaurants to the right of the entrance for some cheaper meals. The cocktails around the pool were delicious and we were far from shocked at our bill on checkout after 8 nights of luxury. We’ve only been away from The Mud for 1 night and are already missing it. Can’t recommend enough!! Quick notes that we loved: Hammock: comfortable Pool bar: friendly & delicious Bed: large & very comfy Sunset: consistently incredible Location: 15/10!

Given the proximity to the beach and the openness of the bathrooms within the huts we did find the mosquitos a little peckish at night. Nets over the beds were provided but we also took the additional precaution of buying some burners for the evening from 7/11. They seemed to do the trick. The restaurant, although delicious, was a little overpriced to eat at every night compared to surrounding restaurants. However, as mentioned, it was delicious so I’d suggest a couple of meals during your stay.

The place is fantastic! Very relaxing stay. We loved everything there. It's in the quiet beach and peaceful location of Koh Samui. Our rooms were beach front villas and the sea view was breathtaking especially the sunset. The inside villa was spacious with high ceilings, clean, super comfortable beds and plenty of pillows. The patio with hammock was also lovely. The pool and the sunbeds were always available to use. All the local staff (at the reception, restaurant, kitchen, cafe', the pool bar including the cleaning ladies) were very helpful and friendly (above Thai's standard!). We spent many days just inside the hotel enjoying their cafe' and delicious food at the restaurant, the relaxing massages. Breakfast was nice. Very good value for money. We will be back (hopefully soon) for sure!

I stayed one week at The Mud with my 7 year old daughter, we had the room on the sand just in front of the pool and the beach, it was amazing the relaxing feeling in the hammock, the pool bar, the massage we could get with the sea view. Everything was exceptional, the welcoming, the bamboo structure, the food at the restaurant was one of the best we had in Koh Samui. And, mostly, the people! Everybody always available and polite, smiling and helpful. We didn't want to leave the resort at the end of our holiday. Thank you so much, you made our Thai holiday special!

Best Stay Ever! We stayed for 4 nights and honestly, we regretted not booking longer! The location is perfect, right by the sea, with stunning views. The cocktails and fresh fruit juices were spot on—thank you so much! If you’re looking to relax, take in the view, enjoy a massage, and sip delicious cocktails all day, this is definitely the place. The staff was absolutely AMAZING—special thanks to Beam and Serina at reception, as well as the incredible restaurant waiters and the young lady at the bar. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they always greeted us with warm smiles. You truly made our stay unforgettable! And Latte—we already miss her! Big hugs! 😊

Not staying longer ...

We stayed in the tree house with sea view. The property is well-kept and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was quite good. Nice view from our room. The live music a few times a week was nice. The pool are was very nice with a bar, loungers and palm trees.

The water in our room was quite salty, so it was definitely necessary to buy bottled water in large quantities for making coffee and brushing our teeth. The tree house is close to the main road so it was quite loud due to traffic. There isn't really anything nearby, so you have to take a taxi or drive to the cafes, restaurants and shops.

The property is very nice. The animals there were cute. The staff were extremely friendly and the whole garden was well maintained. The rooms besides the tree house were nice and spacious.

The tree house, which we originally booked is not a suitable accommodation and the description of the room did not match the reality. It is a room directly next to the restaurant, away from the beach. You hear the sound of the busy street, it is above the chicken cage and directly above a motorcycle workshop. The room is definitely not sound proof.

This place is beautiful! Even if the weather was not the best, this place was still magical. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and beautiful. The restaurant as great food and a great view. The staff is very friendly. I love that they are trying to grow their own food on the premises. And that they are environmentally conscious. I wish they were talking more about that stuff. You hear eco this eco that everywhere in thailand. But that's the first place that truly look like they are trying. The café was my favorite place. Great staff, good coffee and a beautiful settings. I highly recommend!

Beautiful rooms, very clean and lovely pool area by the sea. We loved the Mud Hut style rooms, very different from some of the other hotels on the island. The restaurant had a good variety of food and drinks which were reasonably priced. Best of all were the staff - they were all amazing, always welcoming and very helpful and attentive.

Our shower wasn’t the warmest but it wasn’t a minor niggle. The main downside if I had to put one as we really loved it there, was the location on the busy ring road. Without any pavements we didn’t feel able to walk anywhere which we like to do.

This was one of the big highlights of our trip - the mud huts are gorgeous! This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in and the fact that it's facing out onto the beach with a pool and bar area makes it 10/10. The views for the sunset were breathtaking, we sat there all evening watching it go down. The restaurant was lovely and they played live music during dinner, which was nice. There are so many areas in the hotel to explore, including the little zoo area where they have fish, chickens and ostriches! We would absolutely stay here again in the future, highly recommend!
