I recently had the pleasure of staying at Bananas Bungalows, and I can confidently say it was the best hostel experience I've ever had. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up extending my stay! The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, with a strong community vibe where everyone, from fellow travelers to the friendly volunteers, made me feel right at home. A special shoutout to Brett, one of the volunteers, who went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time. There’s never a dull moment at the hostel. I highly recommend taking out the paddle boards to explore the nearby island. We discovered caves, encountered bats and jellyfish, and even visited a lobster farm where we enjoyed some fresh seafood. One of the highlights was when our group of about 20 ventured to a secret beach for a sunset campfire. The hostel is immersed in nature, surrounded by mangroves and home to a variety of animals, including birds, guinea pigs, cats, and even five adorable chihuahuas. Plus, there's a lovely pub across the street called The Crazy Horse, which plays films and offers great drinks. Just a heads up about the monkeys around the area—they're entertaining but can be a bit mischievous! Overall, Bananas Bungalows is a fantastic place to unwind, make new friends, and enjoy the beauty of nature. Highly recommended!

It looks good as it does in the pictures and you get to see the stars clearly at night. There are cats, dogs, and the monkeys that live there are not hostile. The place also attracts a nice crowd of friendly people to talk to. Breakfast is very good and the staff are so helpful. Really good place to relax and do nothing to unwind. Location is ideal for visiting islands, as you can choose to paddle and walk or swim over at low tide right from the place, or join an island hopping or kayak tour.

I slept in a bamboo room and the gaps made me weary every time i felt a breeze in case it was going to rain. There are some gaps in between for wildlife to join you, so do come mentally and physically prepared!

It’s an oasis in the middle of the chaotic and busy country. Very peaceful, with lots of space for relaxing and reading. It’s easy to make connections with other travellers and staff is really nice. The food was amazing and the monkeys around make it very funny. Restaurants and view points around are highly recommended. You can book very nice activities there

It was loud in the mornings and not much privacy in the share room

The resort was amazing for relaxing in nature! The monkeys which came by each day were very entertaining, and we had some really peaceful days reading books in the hammocks and on the pier. The old cat who lived there (I think Somu was her name) was so sweet. We had an amazing experience swimming with the plankton at night and saw so many crabs around the mangrove edges. The sunset on one of our nights was incredible and we loved seeing the huge colony of bats flying over the property at dusk each night. Food was also decent!

We preferred the company of the cat to the 5 small dogs who were a bit loud at times.

Fantastic place - not surprising it’s very popular, just book it! A really amazing experience, very beautiful, calming, and friendly. Came on my own for remote working and found lots of lovely people, including everyone watching the sunset and going nightly to dinner at the great crazy horse restaurant over the road. Extended my stay as it was so good. Boat trip to 3 islands was stunning. Note Bananas is not on a great swimming beach, as you can only swim at high tide, for maybe up to 2 hours a day. Wonderful for sunsets, views and walks on beach. Good food at lunchtimes, and can get cappuccinos at a cafe 3 mins along the beach, when the tide is not high. I didn’t have transport but there was plenty to do, relaxing or going on trips. There’s a village only about 5 mins walk away with simple local shops and restaurants, as well as the wonderful restaurant opposite. Olli the owner is very helpful and really helps to create the wonderful friendly, communal atmosphere. Thank you for my best stay in my month in Thailand!

Small things that could be improved but are totally outweighed by all the wonderful things, so don’t affect 10/10 rating! No shampoo, kettle, fridge or cup in the room, (all the other places I stayed had these, even some quite cheap ones), but instead there’s constant hot and cooled water in the dining area, and a fridge you can use. WiFi was quite weak in the room, depends how close you are to the dining area. If you need good WiFi you may need to sit in the dining area, other people working seemed happy doing that. Or check location of your room beforehand. Aircon was very good, although the controller didn’t work, had a use a broomstick to turn it off, but this was fine. Only a few of the rooms have aircon, again check that you booked what you needed.

- wifi didn't get to my room and for some reason even my local sim didn't get connection from the bungalow...which was a bit of an issue since I had to work from the restaurants and wasn't always quiet. - room was quiet hot even with the two fans - the food if the restaurant was not super good, but okay

The location is stunning! It’s in a lovely quiet area but it has lots of restaurants nearby which is ideal and the outlook from the decking is unbeatable. The staff are so friendly and helpful and really made our stay. We will definitely be back.

Next time we would book a room with aircon as it was very hot in the huts but this is our own fault for only booking a room with a fan.

Ollie the manager and all the staff are helpful, friendly and cheerful. Our air conditioned concrete bungalow was comfortable (many simple bamboo huts available). Be aware huts closest to road may suffer motorbike noise early mornings. Other guests seem much travelled and friendly.Wonderfu location in mangrove forest with walkway to pier for spectacular views, and some limited wildlife. No beach but swimming possible at high tide. Long walk across area possible at low tide! Restaurant food good and reasonable prices, but closes at 4.00 pm due to ongoing staffing shortages. However other restaurants nearby, especially recommended is Kongkan Lanlay large restaurant on shoreline 8 mins walk along road, always plenty of tables, food excellent.

The monkeys are usually entertaining, but beware that sometimes they will snatch things!

Wonderful laidback environment! The location is stunning and away from the very touristic spots around Krabi. We spent here more than two weeks and I would definitely come back.

The cleaning of the bungalow could be improved, but it is overall aligned with the structure.

The stay was not too crowded, and is perfect if you want some peace and quiet. The pier is private, and safe - best spot to laze around be it any time of the day.

The only glitch is that it is slightly far from the city and Ao Nang Beach. It being on the outskirts might be a minor issue, but the place definitely makes up for it.
