My travel companions and I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast each morning—it was a great start to the day. The hotel’s location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk to the Grand Bazaar and within easy walking distance (30 minutes or less) to all major attractions south of the Galata Bridge, including the main mosques. We also made good use of the T1 tram line to reach the Galata Bridge and explore a few stops beyond. The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite, always available to answer questions and assist with bookings. They even arranged taxis at the standard local rates with no mark-up. The Wi-Fi connection was strong and reliable throughout our stay. A great experience overall!

Our room was a bit smaller than expected based on the photos, but it suited our needs perfectly as we were mainly looking for a clean and convenient base close to the main tourist attractions. While the hotel has a more dated appearance, it’s well maintained and offers an authentic charm that matched the feel of our short 3-night stay. There are a few dining options nearby, though we found better variety just a short 10-minute taxi ride away. One small suggestion would be to offer slightly larger quilts for added comfort, but overall, we were very satisfied with our stay.

A complete treasure of a hotel. The staff could not have been more welcoming, hospitable and helpful. Anything you need booking, they’re on it; and their recommendations for restaurants, hammams and so on were spot on. We were greeted with tea and Turkish delight on arrival, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. There was a comfortable area for sitting in the lobby. The breakfast (all vegetarian) was delicious (have included some pictures!) The internet was good, and excellent water pressure in the shower! Great location for transport, or walking around, but in a fairly quiet street.

If you want ultra-luxury or the most modern hotel, this might not be for you

Hotel Niles Istanbul is a great value small hotel in the heart of the touristic hustle and bustle area of Istanbul (Fatih, Sultanahmet). While not the most friendly location when you first arrive from the airport (the neighborhood is a commercial area with narrow and steep streets full of stores selling clothes, purses, leather goods, night gowns, bed and bath articles, etc.), it is an easy walk to all of the major touristic attractions of Istanbul. The area is safe, and feels more touristic as you walk uphill, and more local as you walk downhill. The rooms were very quiet and noise from the street was never an issue. From here, you can easily walk to Hagia Sofia, Topkapi, Sultanahmet (Blue) Mosque, Grand Bazaar, and even the Süleymaniye Mosque can be reached by foot, although a bit further away. You can also easily take the Tram line 1 towards Katabaç to visit the sumptuous Dolmabahçe Palace on the Bosphorus. The hotel is comfortable, but not luxurious. Super clean, and well maintained. The turkish bath in the bathroom is a treat which makes a bath after a long hot day a fun experience. The staff is wonderful, helpful, and welcoming. One of the favorite parts of the stay is the delicious breakfast on the roof top restaurant. I looked forward to the breakfast every morning, where Halil and his staff awaited us with fresh watermelon salads and melon salads, a variety o local cheese and a delicious variety of typical turkish breakfast dishes. The breakfast experience will be a memorable experience. Eating simit bread with turkish tea, fresh honeycomb, cucumber/yogurt salad overlooking the Marmara is a treat. I would absolutely go back to Hotel Niles in a return to Istanbul. Highly recommend it.

There was no particular aspect of my stay that I did not like. One area for improvement would be for the management of the hotel to create a guide of local stores where the tourist can buy typical turkish items without being afraid of being over-charged for every item. For example, I wanted to buy all sorts of bed and bath items (linen, towels, etc.) but the staff at those stores clearly were trying to overcharge for those items. Really sad, because at the end I did not buy anything. The staff could share their local knowledge with tourists.

We liked the overall "Turkish" feeling of the hotel. The decor and old photos of Istanbul were lovely. The staff were friendly and so helpful. The location was great - easy access to the Grand Bazaar, money exchanges, restaurants/fast food, etc. - all within easy walking distance. The upper deck was lovely - with a great view of the ships on the Bosphorous. The breakfast was also great!

Nice boutique hotel with excellent location, close to public location. The check-in and check-out was very smooth and hassle free. The hotel itself is niche in terms of layout and decor. Nice touch and comfortable rooms. The staff was quite accommodating amd flexible to the requests, for example, I had to leave early for the airport before the breakfast time, yet the staff in the restaurant had already started putting up the breakfast before the breakfast opening time. I didn't grab the breakfast though, coz I am not much of a breakfast person. Coffee did work though.

There's isn't much to dislike. I guess some things like shower sliding doors and showers need to be updated to newer ones as they are dated.

Beautiful hotel, great value in heart of Istanbul. The interior decor and customer service was astounding, it was genuinely so beautiful and authentic. We were greeted with turkish tea and turkish delights even though we arrived at the hotel well after 1am. Shuttle service to and from was excellent and efficient - highly worth the 50 euros to be honest as Istanbul traffic and public transport was too stressful to try navigate. The breakfast provided was very good. Quite basic but had some really yum treats and overall healthy. Beautiful view/terrace as well. The rooms itself were good size and comfy. Bathroom was a little on small side and the door is more a glass separator than anything but it was fine. About a 15min walk to the major Mosques and on the other side almost a 4min walk to the Bazaar. Really cool spot. Highly recommend!

Bathroom was a little small and the door wasn't really a door but nothing you can do! Also the key attached to the electronic key was a little annoying when you tried to open/lock the door. But nothing too major! Perhaps give these things separate?

Everything at Hotel Niles was perfect. Prompt responses from staff before my stay with any questions I had, a spacious room with incredible water pressure in the shower, awesome breakfast options on the beautiful rooftop and located in one of the best spots in Istanbul - close enough so you can walk to everything, but still a little out of the way so you get to experience Turkish life and culture. 10/10 stay. The complimentary Turkish Tea and Turkish Delight on arrival was a nice touch as well, as was the small gift at the end of the stay.

Nothing.

Decorated in a very unique way. Staff extremely friendly, making you tea and a treat on arrival and helped with the luggage. Room was spacious. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly and proud of their work. Location was great for staying in the old part of town. Staff helped to organise transport to the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

Old buildings with old sewerage systems often have a smell about them, so would be good if they provided covers for the drains to use in-between use of the shower and to cover the floor drain (like we had in other accommodation in Athens). We understand that it is hard to deal with this issue when it comes to old buildings.

Like staying in a classy hotel on a stop on the old Orient Express! Wonderful checkin with Ege with hot tea and turkish delights. The hotel manager introduced himself and gave us a contact card if we ever needed anything, day or night. Had a junior suite with a hamam... highly recommended! The rooftop bar was a sight to behold.. and staffed 24 hours a day. Oh, and the breakfast was fantastic.

Should be a good hotel for weekend travellers who want to enjoy Istambul on foot and during the day. It’s close to all the touristic attractions and have a tram line just 2 minutes away that is handy. Staff is polite and helpful.

The hotel is in a very busy touristic area with small streets and several streets are blocked. Getting in and out on taxi is a problem. Also, it’s an area that shuts down at night and offers almost no options regarding restaurants and nightlife. The rooms are quiet, but the windows have no blackout for the sunlight, so expect brightness early in the morning. I don’t recommend this hotel if you are going to Istanbul on business.
