Very nice small hotel, very quiet, very clean and well placed for the local area with a nice small garden, a comfortable bed and a very good breakfast. It was fine for my needs and I would book again if staying locally again.
It’s a very nice converted Victorian house so it felt a little more like a B&B than a hotel. I didn’t make use of the bar as it was the empty front room and didn’t see any staff which you had to ring for so it lacked a normal hotel atmosphere. The single room (not the budget one) was much smaller than I was expecting but adequate. The shower was an electric push button type so wasn’t very powerful.

Breakfasts were awesome. Julie & Mike were friendly and gracious hosts. The garden is beautiful, and we enjoyed the aeronaut theme in the decor. The appointments in the garden rooms are basic, but so were our needs. The location (near Tring and the A41) was convenient for our travels. We return to England every few years, and we will definitely stay there next time, too.
One can't hold the hosts responsible for unseasonable heat, and that was the only negative in our stay.

It’s was so quaint. As I walked into reception it was like going back in time. I was then lead through the outside gate where the garden was full of flowers trees old iron table and chairs. Rose bushes well kept shrubs and the sound of trickling water in the corner. I couldn’t wait to sit in the peaceful garden with my book. The room was away from the actual hotel but perfect as I had my doggy with me and she would bark at different noises. So again the room was perfect.
There wasn’t anything.

I was warmly welcomed although I had missed an email giving me instructions re self check in. The room was comfortable but a little small (to be expected as it was the single budget room). The breakfast was perfect, could not fault it. The staff were delightful!
I am finding it difficult to answer this. The room although small was adequate for myself as I just requires a safe, comfortable warm space to sleep that night whilst away for work.

Lovely decor and unique hot air balloon theme. Friendly warm and welcoming staff. Small but well designed garden. Close to a beautiful park. Amazing full English breakfast included in price with vegetarian and vegan options. Lots of useful information and flexible approach eg allowed to order in food if wanted . Lots of walks within a short drive eg grand union canal, Ivinghoe Beacon plus Tring Natural History Museum
The electric shower was warm but I would have liked a little more power.

We loved the garden, it was really lovely to walk around and just relax and chill in, plus the fact the village pubs were so close. The pub had lovely food and had alot of room inside and out. Also the garden had a covered area so you could still go out if it was raining and get fresh air. The hotel itself had some old charm, and felt homely. The room was lovely and just the right size. Plus breakfast was lovely, owners really helpful and nothing was to much for them to help with.
Everything was great.

West Lodge is a very well appointed small hotel. The owners have clearly put a lot of hard work into making the property very attractive, with a lovely garden and additional accommodation in units actually in the garden. We would not hesitate to stay here again and will happily recommend it to our friends.
The only comment is that the water pressure could be better, especially to the shower.

Lovely place, lovely people, was looked after well, and had a comfortable stay. Welcoming check in, and DELICIOUS breakfast. Also - delightful cooky lounge decor, overlooking gorgeous garden. Really uplifting!
OK, so - in my room I kept on hearing a loud and constant click, click, click all night - like the pipes were warming up or cooling down. I checked the rad in the bathroom it was fine. And finally at 2am(!!!!!) I decided I couldn't take it any more - so I tracked down the culprit - an electric space heater under the desk, and unplugged it! Finally I could sleep - but it meant I only got 5 hours, which was disappointing. They were super apologetic when I told them, and said they thought they had fixed it.

Very charming, lovely gardens. Extremely quiet. Breakfast was delicious and quick. Appreciated the extra power bar to plug in phones, etc. check in very friendly and easy. Glad to have parking. Close to excellent restaurant
We have gotten used to “black out” curtains, so morning light came a bit early. Stairs were narrow, but that’s what comes with an older building.

Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was delicious and very quick. Bedroom was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The whole lodge was very nicely decorated. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We received text messages from them asking for an estimated check-in times and what time we would like breakfast on the second day of our stay. We walked to a lovely local pub for dinner on the first evening, and had a very short drive to Tring for dinner on the second night. We were able to park outside the hotel for free.
The shower was a bit feeble - but hot.
