Great location and lovely Manor House style hotel. Staff were friendly and professional. The room was clean and comfortable and even had a fridge, though the room was too hot at night - like other reviewers, we think the AC wasn’t working. The peacocks are charming, though they will wake you up at 5am! The swimming pool was quite busy but it’s good to see a hotel that has decent times for children to swim. The sauna and steam room were great, but the two changing rooms and lockers were a bit odd. The room could be locked by one person getting showered and dressed, though there were several lockers in there! The breakfast choice and service was excellent.

The bathroom in room 188 smelt of drains - we reported this; luckily we were only there for one night but it was unpleasant. We hadn’t booked for dinner before arrival and at check in there were no tables left (before 9pm anyway). We ate in the bar which was a fab spot but the choice of food was more limited.

We loved the pool, sauna and steam room, which were very quiet during our stay. Good long opening hours and no extra payment to use them which seems to be an increasingly popular thing elsewhere, to be tricked into booking a spa hotel only to discover you have to pay extra to use the facilities. The staff without exception were friendly and helpful, going above and beyond. The food was great at breakfast and in the bar. Our room was spotless, spacious, and decorated with character rather than bland. Fairtrade coffee was in the room, including decaf coffee and tea. Drinking water, hot chocolate and biscuits were also in the room. I like the little things. The peacocks roaming the grounds were lovely. There was a good running route along the canal nearby. Toiletries in the room and spa changing room were great and smelled delicious. The bed was comfortable and the room temperature perfect.

Beautiful decorated room with plenty of space for two. The pool was great, so was steam room and sauna. Also one of the better hotel cooked breakfast we’ve had! The free roaming peacocks were a really nice touch. We personally had a room facing front of the manor but had no issue with noise like some of the other comments mentioned. Staff and service was amazing throughout, we had an absolutely comfortable and great stay.

Everything was great, but it would have been nice to seem some colour in the grounds ie some summer flowers etc to lively it up a bit. Also, coffee quality could be massively improved

My mum gets short of breath due to heart surgery and we were given rooms on the top floor in the main building with access via 2 flights of stairs. Luke a member of staff took my mum back to reception and provided her with a great ground floor room. A lovely gesture by the hotel and a special thanks to Luke.

The air conditioning in room 272 relied on central air conditioning therefore the room was too warm as the air con hadn't been turned on prior to our arrival and it was one of the hottest days of the year. Also felt we were slightly rushed in and out of the restaurant having booked an evening meal and even asking for a break between courses however the staff just continued to rush us and it wasn't particularly busy.

Tasteful Hotel, blending the old with new, retaining its character. Friendly helpful staff. The whole experience had a touch of class about it. The bonus was the peacocks, which our 4yr old nephews & nieces that visited us, are still talking about, as they were given free food from the staff to feed the peacocks. Special thanks to Chef Adi who prepared an omelette for me, both mornings even though it wasn't on the menu. He came out for a chat & had good banter, offering to show my husband how to cook one 😆

We are used to a Tempur mattress at home, so the mattress was a little too firm for us. We had requested a bath & shower, which we got. But unfortunately we had the laundry skips at the back of us & was woken 8am Monday by the trolleys being trundled along a corridor, possibly underneath us. Maybe everyone heard the same, I don't know, as the corridor is hard tiles & sounds travel. It didn't spoil our stay & would stay again

Beautiful room and staff noted my particular request re room decor and positioning which instantly made us feel welcome. Everything provided as one would wish; small fridge very handy as weather warm. Attractive gardens and fun to have the company of a plethora of peacocks. Comfortable and tastefully decorated bar and restaurant. All staff very pleasant and helpful. Although two conferences going on during our stay because the weather was nice the groups had predinner drinks in the garden so did not impinge on other guests. However fact that the hotel has a large business suite and area for weddings might be one to watch out for if guests are wanting a quieter stay.

Bathroom was rather small and very little room to place toiletries; small shower head did not swivel; no hand cream in dispenser. Housekeeping on the second day missed topping up the coffee and water bottles and did not respond to my note saying that the hand lotion dispenser was not working. However reception quickly addressed the coffee and water on request

Pendley Manor is a lovely hotel to relax in, there were many little corners, aside from my room, where I could sit and read/watch TV on my phone and just chill. I also enjoyed walking around some of the grounds.

I was unable to find a menu anywhere for the restaurant, I consequently only had dinners in the bar, The restaurant has to be booked and without being able to see what food would be available and at what price, I was unwilling to book. I would also have liked to be able to find a map of the grounds as it is supposedly many acres, but I was only able to walk around a fairly small area. Both of these things, a menu and a map would surely be able to be put on the TV, as there was a personalised message to me on the TV in my room on arrival, so surely it would be simple to add these.

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was really good. Lovely old building in beautiful location

The room was a long way from check in, through corridors to a lift that went 2 floors, we were on the 3rd. The air conditioning unit, or fans which we turned off as the room was too cold, was above us in the ceiling. It whirred loudly all night. It could not be turned off. I did not sleep well if at all. We had to wait a while to be seated for breakfast which was not hot at all, the tea tasted like coffee? We also couldn't use the pool outside of check in/out times, I didn't check in till 10.30pm as we were attending a wedding...so we spent £250 for 10 hours in a noisy room with a cold breakfast. I wouldn't reccomend. I brought this up at check out, and was told 'thanks for letting us know '

We stayed for one night midweek break including dinner, and it was great in every respect. The rooms were spacious and well equipped, the menu for food covered a reasonable range options that were tasty, well presented and served by excellent waiting staff. The hotel is very well located in its own wooded grounds between Tring and Tring station and has a small but very relaxing indoor pool and sauna/heat room. We will definitely be back again for another stay.

Breakfast finishes at 09.30 midweek, which we found was just a little too early.

I am still under a pleasant impression of my stay at the hotel. It is a beautiful building, which is 150 years old. We were checked in a little early, which was nice. The separate lobby and restaurants are beautiful, and the rooms are modern and tasteful. Very nice and polite staff at the reception and restaurants. A pleasant atmosphere with peacocks is created outside. The food was very tasty, especially the steak. We were allowed to order from the restaurant when we were sitting at the bar, because you need to book dinner in advance. But the desserts were very mediocre. The only thing I didn’t like was that we couldn’t book a massage at the spa even a few days in advance.
