I booked with no problems and all was in place when I arrived. It's exceedingly hot at the moment and the rooms could do with fans. I like the place and it is very convenient when teaching at Missenden and I am sad to hear it will be closing later this year I its current format. Breakfast is always good and this time I had an evening meal as well and it was pleasant. As breakfast is included it is good value for money. Staff were welcome and helpful.

The decor is dated and tired in places and the bathrooms need updating and improving. The rooms in the Coach House are small but for short stays are just fine. Don't forget to register your car within 15 minutes of your arrival as parking rules are strictly enforced.

The room was fine as we just needed it to sleep and shower. Our room included breakfast which was excellent quality and delicious. There were options for a Continental breakfast, cereal, and all the ingredients for a cooked breakfast or even beans on toast. The staff were amazing and always had a smile. It was a busy weekend because of a prom as well as a wedding. This did not affect the way we were dealt with, we were made to feel just as important. Parking is ample and the grounds are beautiful, a real manor type building, mainly well kept. The flower beds were beautiful and well maintained.

We did have to ask for clean towels and we had to make our own beds. There was also some kind of leak behind the toilet and this affected the flush

The room was simple, but clean and comfortable with doors out onto a garden. The shower was good. The bed linen was nice. The facilities in the room were fine, and the room was exceptional good value for money. The grounds are exceptional and the main building of the hotel is impressive. Lovely wedding location. Couldn't fault the wedding experience and the food at the wedding, it was all perfect.

The bed was slightly uncomfortable, but we slept OK. Could hear tv from the room next door, but it didn't disturb us. At breakfast the staff seemed run off their feet, and things seemed to constantly be missing- plates, coffee, yogurt etc. It wasn't the best breakfast I have had in a hotel but it was adequate.

Beautiful location, very quiet and peaceful. Friendly and welcoming staff. My room in the Coach House was basic, but had everything I needed (including tea & coffee making facilities), and was clean and comfortable, with an excellent hot shower. The double bed was comfortable, if somewhat softer than I prefer, but I slept well. Some reviewers have noted 'old fashioned' decor. I'd guess the Coach House was built in the 90s so such as the bathroom doesn't have a 2025 look, obviously, but it has clearly been well looked after and I couldn't fault the cleanliness nor maintenance. Overall I had a really enjoyable stay.

The hot food on the buffet breakfast could have been a bit warmer, though it was tasty.

Convenient free parking, beautiful abbey with an annex building containing lots of small, clean well equipped double rooms with ensuites, with access overlooking either a pretty pond or gardens. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and mentioned they'd checked breakfast for a dietary issue we'd asked about. The rooms are fairly small but not cramped, had a bit of a nice uni halls vibe. The room was clean, comfortable with lovely clean bedding, towels, hot drinks, and a good shower. It's an unusual, pretty building. Breakfast was fine. Perhaps not the very wide range of juices etc you'd find in some luxury chains but all fresh, tasty and a really good choice of cereals, breads, cooked breakfast items, and a fruit bowl etc.

The breakfasts (especially the sausages) were amazing: I can understand why Henry the VIII used to stay there! Good location since only a short walk to partake of a decent pint in one of the pubs. Interesting history and pretty walks around the grounds.

Made myself a coffee in my room when I arrived but it tasted of soap. Don't think the cup had been rinsed - so marked down on cleanliness. Sad to see that a large beech had been felled in the grounds but otherwise some incredible trees there, especially the cedar.

The abbey grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and there are plenty of tables and chairs outside so that guests can enjoy the natural beauty. It's also wonderfully easy to walk into the town. The high street, the train station, the church, and the Roald Dahl museum and grave are all within an easy walk. The full breakfast was excellent. Lots of options for both hot and continental choices.

Our room was tiny and not very comfortable, unfortunately. We had a bed that was about the size of a twin and a half--not quite a full size, definitely not a queen size--pushed up against a wall with no nightstands on either side. The mattress was hard and we did not sleep very well, despite the fact that it was blissfully quiet at the abbey. There was no storage to speak of--one tiny closet with a few hangers but no shelves. The small room felt even smaller because there was no choice but to have our suitcases splayed out on the floor. I've seen the photos of the rooms on the hotel's website, and the other rooms look more spacious and accommodating. But honestly, we were glad that we were only staying there for one night.

I’ve stayed before, or I might have found it confusing. Car park is a long way from Reception so best to park temporarily near front and then move vehicle after checking in. My room was comfortable, clean and pleasant, one of the more recently refurbished rooms this time. Breakfast was excellent. I’ll probably stay again as it’s convenient for a place nearby where I go regularly.

It’s largely a wedding and conference venue. If there’s a wedding it can be noisy and because it’s private you can’t go into the bar area so need to take your own drink. However, the receptionist did offer to get the barman to bring me a drink out (but I’d brought something with me). The music etc packed up at around 11 pm, but because my room overlooked the walkway it was a bit noisy till after 12. It’s worth asking for a room further along if there’s a party going on.

The function rooms, bar, grounds and dining areas were lovely. The staff were consistently excellent. All were happy to do anything for their guests. They produced a wonderful wedding for us. Natasha was particularly brilliant. The rooms in the coach house were very small, so much so that they weren’t completely comfortable. The beds were nowhere near a double. We imagined that in the main house things would be better. The room was bigger, still with a very small bed. The bathrooms were functional and clean. The food was very good.

Small rooms in the coach house, very small beds in both coach house and main house.

I loved the crescent shape of the coachhouse and the simple but fully functional and comfortable room with doors that lead out to the delightful water feature. The sounds of water trickling and birds singing were perfect for a calming get away. The breakdfast was tasty and the local village, a very short walk away, was one of the most picturesque places I have visited. I would like to have stayed for longer, to just sit by the open door in my room and listen to the birds and the water feature.
