The location was really close to Harry Potter world. The staff were lovely. The food was very well priced The place had live music. Which was really good. The band were lovely. An amazing set the people that came were lovely as well. I think they’re all regulars and I highly recommend it.

It is of an older decor as a few reviews say, but I would say it’s got an oldschool vibe and it is a really really good location. Just a thought to the owners . Maybe let people that are booking there a live band I let the know so that they can be aware the music is loud. It is absolutely wonderful but just a heads up for maybe elderly couples and children so they can maybe avoid that particular night if they need to sleep early.

We stayed for just one night, coming from the Warner Bros. Studio. The accommodation had character, it was cozy, and we didn’t miss anything. We had a good meal at the restaurant; our daughter received a Harry Potter coloring page and crayons at the table, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff was extremely friendly.

Due to the older building, the floor in the room creaked, which could be a bit inconvenient if you’re trying to be quiet at night. Also, there are train tracks nearby, so I was worried it might disturb me during the night, but in the end, it wasn’t a problem at all — despite the pub, it was actually very quiet at night.

All staff very nice from the moment we walked into the pub area to ask where we needed To go, loved the old feeling to the rooms, my 7 year was amazed and we enjoyed listening to the trains going by

Had fish and chips of the menu, fish was tasteless, soggy and was seasoned with a sauce with pepper in the middle, I hate pepper and wouldn't of ordered if it said, so left the fish which worked out expensive for some chips and garden peas My sons sausages where overcooked too and hard so he didn't eat all his dinner, luckily I had packed snacks which he ate in the room.as he was hungry

It is what it says on the tin - it is a period coaching inn with tons of atmosphere. That goes hand in hand with it NOT being a bog-standard corporate chain type affair, with everything just so. Not everyone will appreciate the more "eccentric" aspects, but it was great by our books.

We had the misfortune to be staying during one of the hottest nights of the year, so it wasn't as comfortable a sleep as it could have been. The fan provided was helpful to a degree. Possibly the en suite bathroom could do with a little TLC at some point.

Great location for going to the Warner Bros Studio Tour. Staff warm and welcoming throughout the day, especially the waitress Sue, and always on hand to help. Rooms were cosy and had a great cottage vibe to them. No issues with beds or any other apparatus. Electricity working all fine. Food was particularly good at reasonable prices for the area. Breakfast at £10 was a steal. And evening food had some great selections, especially the pies. 🥧 Couldn't ask for better in terms of service. Definitely would stay again.

Bathroom could have been slightly cleaner but for a nights stay, but it was absolutely manageable.

Gorgeous little hotel over a pub / restaurant. Quite a quirky building with lots of old beams and features, lovely sized room and bathroom. Comfortable beds and not too loud given that you are right over a pub. All the staff were lovely and really approachable and the food was amazing if a little on the large portioned side. Only a £7-8 journey to the Harry Potter Studio if you don't drive and around £10 to / from Watford Junction Station (do not use one of the station taxis, they overcharge - google a local firm).

I personally didn't have issues with anything but something to note - it is an old building and if you are tall you will need to duck through doorways.

The house is built in 1642 - and you feel it :) The place is close to Harry Potter / Warner Studios (7 min taxi / 30 min on foot) - and the old vibe of the building adds to the whole Harry Potter experience. The lodge has rooms above and a quiet pub downstairs with decent food options. The terrace of the pub was nice and it is isolated from the street. The room is OK-sized for a family of 3 with a full sized bathroom above the room itself. Value-for-money, considering the alternatives.

The house is built in 1642 - and you feel it :) The soundproofing is negligible, and when you have the neighbouring room's toilet beside is not pleasant. If you are looking for a no-frills business-style hotel, this is not it.

This is a very old property with wonderful character features. The service was outstanding. Every staff member I interacted with was welcoming and kind. The shower in the room was excellent and the location was fairly quiet given it’s a pub right next to the train line. The flowers in the garden are truly beautiful.

My room was located right above the pub’s office and someone was having a very loud phone conversation in there with the door open at 10pm. They did quieten down once I went down and asked them. The food was only mediocre so would recommend finding somewhere else to eat.

The food is very good, breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very high quality. The staff are very welcoming and the rooms are spacious and comfortable with the feeling of the old building kept as much as possible. Not too far from Harry Potter Studios. Just up from the canal which is a delightful walk.

For Harry Potter Studios it is a great location but getting any tavel information such as numbers for local taxis was hard as they didn't know any and being so close I assumed they would be able to help with best ways of getting there, potentially missing a trick there too. Not a complaint more a suggestion to improve information available as by other reviews ive seen that many stay for the studios and driving isn't always the simple answer.

Great location for Harry Potter and other attractions nearby. Beautiful part of the country we'd never seen before. Good food reasonably priced. Such amazing Royal history to the place. Very quaint, authentic, welcoming making for a relaxed evening in the bar.

I personally didn't like the pillows - my husband did. I like a soft, squishy pillow - these were incredibly firm and massive! I only realised when we went to bed quite late and in fairness I didn't go to check if they had an alternative. The mattress was also incredibly soft and bouncy so you felt every little movement - not keen.
