The location was idyllic. So quaint. Loved the rustic beams in restaurant /bar. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were all lovely and helpful and accommodating. The beds were really comfortable. It was uncommonly warm / hot overnight and we welcomed the fact that there was a fan in the wardrobe. We had evening meal both nights which was delicious. In fact they were very accommodating food wise on second night as it was nearly finishing food service time.

I did feel that the bedroom was a bit tired. The feature wall behind the bed looked newer and was nice but the other walls had peeling wall paper. I noticed the bathroom appeared to have ?mold / damp at ceiling level.

1st bedroom key wouldn't work. We were told it had been difficult for some time. The 2nd was difficult but my husband sorted it without small problems over the 2 days and nights there. The shower control was difficult to obtain a comfortable temperature, too hot. Only 1 hand towel given us. The table given to us for dinner was very close to bar and therefore noisy, Luckily there was room for us to move. It was very clean but needs a big uplift. Car parking was good. The staff were excellent dealing with our problems. I would like to think we would stay again at a later date. A very comfortable bed with plenty of space in room.

Lovely place to stay for a couple of days whilst visiting the parents in law. Really comfortable and spacious pub in lovely village surroundings. Rooms are a little dated but have all the facilities and very large comfortable beds (which is the most important thing). We have stayed here many times before with no problems but this time we did have an issue with the water pressure for the shower. The issue was noted but as we were on a short stay we were not around to see if it was fixed.

As previously mentioned the shower water pressure.

We travelled as a couple with some friends too, the rooms were spacious and had a lot of room to get changed and storage for bags. When we arrived we got checked in with a man at reception who explained all timings to us. Breakfast was 8am till 10am. Breakfast had a small selection of pastries, yogurts, cereal, fruit and drinks. They also offered hot food, the full English was nice. Once settled we rang for a taxi - man on reception offered cards to keep for return journey. Was £11 to local train station. Uber wasn’t fantastic up there but local taxi company always had taxis available. WiFi was needed as signal there is shockingly bad but WiFi was free and quite good. We stayed for 2 nights and all staff were lovely. Liked that there was a pub downstairs so we managed a few drinks before heading to bed. On checkout you just place your keys in a box and can leave. Check out time is 11am. Hotel is situated in a very small, quiet area. Looks like a church across a large grassy area out front. Rooms overlook the car park. It’s quiet even though a pub is downstairs, didn’t hear any traffic I would definitely stay again.

Bathroom was very small, isn’t a full size bath so it is a squeeze!

We were visiting the Harry Potter Studios and decided to stay here rather than in Watford. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the rooms were nice and spacious with a lovely king sized bed. There was plenty of choice on the evening menu and the food came out lovely and hot. There was a good selection of yoghurt, cereal, pastries and a wonderful full English breakfast, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. We took a walk around the village and discovered a convenience store with a post office and a smaller convenience store.

We were disappointed that we were not able to order scampi from the menu after 4pm and there were no plug sockets by the bed.

The Two Brewers is a lovely old pub opposite the green where cricket was being played at a bank holiday wkend great to see! Also a nice church. The Beds were very Comfy. Great breakfast. Nice staff. Free Parking.. Perfect location for us, easy to get to Warner bros studios or a 20 min train to Euston.

To be a alittle picky, the bathroom could do with a lick of paint or updating but the function & space were absolutely fine & it was nice & clean just what you need.

This hotel is in a lovely spot. We've been coming for years as it's clise to our family home. Relaxed. A decent breakfast & lovely Coral in the breakfast room has become like a friend over the years, always has a smile. Relaxed, a small garden area in hotel area in summer.

Only twin room has an an adjoining door. You can't talk or have TV on unless v low in the evening or disturbs the next room. Only 2 smallish towels plus 1 hand towel. We both have long hair. It's ok in the summer but in winter it's annoying. Bring an extra towel if you have some hair! Internet barely functions. It requires a lot of private information to access (if you can) including DOB Post code etc Then you get tons of email spam.

Great room with extremely comfortable bed and good shower. Ideal location away from the hustle and bustle of Watford. Really enjoyed the ambience of the pub and the meals were excellent.

The only issue we had was on the Sunday evening when we returned to the pub at about 9.30pm after a day visiting my wife's parents. We ordered a first round of drinks with no problems but when I went for a second round at 10.15 I was informed that the bar was closed (their had been no call for last orders). When I queried this I was told that the pub now closed at 10pm on Sundays although the website clearly stated 10.30 as the closing time and there were no other signs to contradict this. Not really good customer service or good business sense for that matter.

Attractive, comfortable rooms. The beds are the most comfortable we've slept in. The food is delicious (we had breakfast and dinner). Service is friendly and efficient. The hotel is in a beautiful historical building in a charming Hertfordshire village. There are lovely walks in the Hertfordshire countryside directly from the hotel. We stay in this hotel 3 or 4 times a year when visiting family and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in the area.

The bathrooms could do with some upgrading and the corridors in the accommodation areas are a bit tired. However, this is reflected in the price of the accommodation and overall we were very happy with our stay.

Charming pub with very friendly staff. Comfortably sized rooms which had clean linen, good shower and the usual necessities such as hairdryer, iron, tv etc. Breakfast was very nicely cooked and tasty. A quiet location which was ideal for us.

Although the room served its purpose well the decor is tired and needs some attention. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall in many places and the bath panel was in desperate need of repair. This was not something that really bothered me as everything else was right and as we were using it to visit family it really served us well.
