My first wow factor was the image of the Manor Hotel in the grounds the day I drove up in my cab. I had researched Shendish Manor Hotel seeing it with my own eyes exceeded how pictures of the Shendish Manor Hotel looked on the Internet. My next great experience was the reception staff. All the staff were very polite, professional and personable when I checked in. I settled into my room and found a few issues mainly no chair at the dressing table/ bureau, an ironing board but no iron and a handle on the chest of drawers that had fallen off and had been placed in the draw. When I went downstairs to the Reception and reported what I had found to a gentleman called Hugo, he was only to happy to resolve these things that had been reported. It was coming up to dinner time (6pm) so Hugo said that all these things would be rectified by the time I had returned from dinner which they were with the exception of the chest of drawers handle. This however, was not an issue to me. The food I the restaurant was delicious especially that there were alternatives to accommodate dietary requirements. The staff in the restaurant were so lovely and my overall experience of all the staff in the hotel was that nothing was too much trouble. Overall I enjoyed my stay and I am planning to come back and stay at the hotel in the near future.

The property looks lovely and the grounds are well kept. On arrival there was plenty of parking and reception was easy to find. Check in was straightforward and we felt welcome immediately. We stayed in the manor side which was attractively decorated but tired in the communal areas and the carpet could do with replacing. Our room was upstairs (there was a lift) the stairs needed a vacuum. We stayed in number 7, the room was lovely, clean and spacious with a good sized en suite bathroom, plenty of room for storing clothes and a really nice view of the grounds. The bed was really comfortable and we slept well. There are enough power sockets and a fan for if the room got too hot (which we appreciated). We had breakfast on the second morning which was really nice and there was plenty of choice, including Gluten free! Great value for money.

As mentioned above there were areas that needed a bit of attention but this didn’t spoil our stay. Will definitely return. The driveway isn’t lit in the evening so if you are walking take a torch!

Overall our stay was first class with very helpful and happy staff, the room was clean,tidy and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant every night the food was first class so we had no need to look elsewhere for meals.

The only slight drawback was that there was no fresh air available through the windows. My wife required a full disabled room so i appreciated that rooms like this are limited

Choose this property for its location near to the Harry Potter tour. Staff were very professional and friendly. The room was bigger than expected which was a pleasant surprise.

There was not a separate residents lounge - we were told by the staff that the only place available was the seating area in the reception area. Whilst pleasant enough the problem was, when people were coming in or going out via the main doors there was a cold draught making it uncomfortable to sit - it was February! Also there was a wedding party of which those attending congregated in the reception area - making it not a relaxing time. We stayed two nights - we sat in the reception on our first night after the evening meal but went to our room on the second night.

Staff were friendly helpful and welcoming going above and beyond in all areas. Grounds were beautiful but walks could be more accessible and longer with paths but beautiful views from dining room. Excellent in accommodating my vegetarian and dairy intolerance above and beyond. Food was the best I've had in a long time so fresh and tasty they nailed it ! Cooked breakfast good variety and very well cooked fresh and hot.

Carpet in our room could do with replacing room was a little tired but good for price we had a twin room. Missing sink plug and phone to call for room service which staff told us had been pinched! Just minor things that wouldnt stop me going back.

We loved the grounds and facade of the property - a lovely setting. Fantastic and helpful staff.

We purposely upgraded our stay to have a Manor House room which was generally lovely: large and comfortable. However, it was sad to see and was letdown by the rundown and neglected hallways/staircases: broken balustrades, tired and ripped wallpaper, out of place fittings (not in keeping with the property age/character); a rather bad smell lingered in the staircases. A bit more attention to detail and up-keeping has gone amiss in these areas which is such a shame. It made us wonder the state of the room before we got to it! Fortunately, the room was generally good although there were a few minor prior damage (iron mark in carpet), water damage and decor/faux-pas’.

Ratify building and grounds. Our 3rd stay here. Offers great value for money. Staff were excellent and a credit to the industry. Breakfast was also very well liked even if people struggled with juice dispenser.

Biggest problem with both rooms was the lack of power / blocked shower heads. There is a strong dribble rather than a proper stream of water. I had to stand on the plug to get close to the water!!! Suggest maintenance soak them one by one in white vinegar overnight to breakdown calcium build up OR replace them!! The corridor carpets to the rooms definitely needs cleaning more often.

Large rooms , good location for visiting Warner Bros Studio Harry Potter. Warm …

…we had mailed the hotel asking for rooms close to which I received a reply to say that it was ok . On arrival rooms offered were not even on the same floor with no chance of changing until I said we won’t be staying then and then started looking for a different hotel . The receptionist quickly found two more rooms close together . It would have been better just to sort it without upsetting the guests . Rooms were cleanish but ageing in decor . There was black mould in the shower and curtains were missing rings . We had to ask for extra pillows , we were snapped at saying we would be added to the list . Room service was rapid and the two young men were exceptional .

The hotel was beautiful with fantastic grounds. The bed was comfortable, and the room was amble in size. The bathroom had a bath and shower, which was welcome after a long drive. The staff were welcoming, and the breakfast offered a vast array of choices.

The venue does say in their important information that it is a wedding venue. However, the noise on the corridor was very loud until it was gone 1am. There was also a very loud disco (though this did finish by 12 midnight). I was disappointed to find upon arrival that the price I had paid through Booking.com for room only, would have got me half board if I had booked direct. Infact, I actually ended up paying almost £90 extra by not booking direct with the hotel, by the time I had paid for my breakfast too. Moral of the story, check the pricing before you go.

Great country setting with a great looking golf course next door. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the room was clean and comfortable.

Air conditioning was not functioning in the room and the fan supplied had a broken base so had to be supported against a wall to stop it from falling over. Made a noise like a biplane when operational as well so not the best fan in the world. Unfortunate that I stayed here during a 30 degree heatwave!
