1. The room was spotless throughout. 2. The bed was comfortable. 3. The room had decent air conditioning. 4. The breakfast was pleasant with a decent array of options, including vegan and gluten free alternatives. 5. The hotel is in a quiet area despite only being two minutes from Apsley station. There is also a supermarket and a pub nearby.

1. The staff were unprofessional when we first arrived preferring to maintain personal conversations despite the fact they knew that we were waiting to check-in. 2. One staff member in the cafe loudly argued with another. The same staff member also loudly vented her disagreement after a guest said that there was a dirty plate alongside the clean ones. The guest was right. 3. This isn't the fault of the hotel but Apsley train station doesn't have a lift. Therefore those with heavy suitcases might be better off staying in King's Langley or Watford.

The hotel was clean, right opposite Apsley station which is few minutes from central London, St Albans, Milton Keynes and Watford There is free parking but don't forget to register your car when you check-in Breakfast was good, English breakfast with options for cereals or bakery items; croissants etc Staff were friendly Sainsbury's, Range, Dunes are just around the corner and Sainsbury's has a petrol station. The Chinese local however are horrid! I dont recommend them...

The Chinese takeaway as we got in quite late we had to order, they got the order wrong and won't accept the mistake and made my daughter out to be a liar! However this has nothing to do with Holiday Express:)

The location was ideal for wembley concert and also the Close to train station. The canal area was lovely also and could have spent more time there. The parking was secure. rooms were clean and lovely bathroom. Rather small for a family but ideal for one night stay with not much time spent in room. staff were friendly and helpful. Could not be better. The breakfast was amazing . The price was reasonable and the whole experience positive. The staff were helpful when we left an item behind . Thank you

Clean, comfortable twin room on 4th floor, parking outside easy to access, excellent included breakfast buffet including fruit compote and yoghurt, and coffee machines. I particularly liked the jam/marmalade/nutella vending unit with little pots to fill and take to your table, though it's a shame these are plastic. There is a lovely pub that serves food nearby at the waterside, or food/bar on site. Staff work hard but always have a ready smile and friendly word.

stingy refreshment tray in room with only enough for one drink each, but can collect additional supplies at breakfast buffet or ask staff. The bacon was overcooked, dry and hard. I had a glass of wine one evening, and the glass had cloudy streaks on the globe, which I was told was due to a faulty dishwasher, but it looked dirty and let them down.

The staff were outstanding! Couldn't do enough for you, the main guy on the night we checked in needs a pay rise, he was all over the place making sure everyone was ok. The following morning at breakfast he was once again, cleaning, refilling, checking in with people, checking people in and out, all with a massive smile and cheery chat throughout! The location of hotel is fabulous for train links into London (to note, Asprey, not Hemel Hempstead!) Breakfast was lovely and hot and there was plenty of everything, t was really busy at 8.30 but there are signs telling you this so best to go earlier or a bit later if you like it quiet. Evening food wasn't too bad either. Overall really good stay.

The pillows were terribly flat and really uncomfortable, had to use rolled up towels to support in the night

Rooms were clean and spacious, staff were friendly, polite and helpful and the aura was generally pleasant. Food was of good quality.

Breakfast was good but some items had run out by the time we came down at 8.45am which seemed a little disappointing given there were still 45 minutes left. The lift broke down and was out of action for almost all of our stay which was annoying as we had heavy equipment to carry up and down several flights of stairs. This is the second time this happened when visiting this hotel so it seems to be a general problem with lift maintenance at this building.'

Very clean, friendly staff, perfect location for where we needed to be. Menu had a good choice and lots of choice for the buffet breakfast. Rooms clean and tidy and a good size even with sofa bed in use. Lovely location next to canal,

Only thing that spoilt was trying to enjoy a nice quiet drink last night when there was a group of 6/8 pre teens running around and making lots of noise, parents seemed to be sitting on next table but did nothing to stop or quieten down. Another couple seemed to moved tables because of this, slightly spoilt night

The hotel was very well located, at the edge of Hemel but 2 minutes from the station that connects to London. The room was sufficient. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. Breakfast was almost always the same but it was very good. The aphonic receptionist was very friendly.

There were no wardrobes in the room, some hangers were exposed. The dinner service did not surprise us, little variety, and they had problems with some ingredients that they "couldn't find" but then they did have them available. Customer service was abrupt and direct with little interest.

Disabled button for doors to entrance/exit on reception floor? Maybe we missed those. Disabled button for doors was on the ground parking floor though to enter etc. Disabled assistance button there which was lovely so reception even came down to help. So polite and lovely staff. Really well looked after. Floor 1 reception is actually floor 2 on lift from ground which is floor 1 on lift? Am I confused here maybe was late and I misunderstood?

This is exactly what you would expect from a hotel of this type. Clean and tidy with an eat all you want self service buffet style breakfast which if taken as brunch immediately makes the room rate reasonable value. The free parking is helpful and the staff are willing to please and as the room was ready they permitted early occupancy at no extra cost which was very reasonable.

The water temperature in the shower never got very hot but not cold so a minor issue in the grand scheme of things. The rooms are a touch on the small side for a couple especially if you had significant baggage but more than adequate for a night or two.
