We enjoyed our stay here as we were looking for a place close to a music festival we were attending. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and was easy to add on as we hadn't prebooked it. Staff was helpful when we had a few questions and overall was a nice vibe. There was a fan in the room as well that was a life safer!

The walls of our room were very thin, we could hear a couple next to us doing nefarious things and their conversations quite clearly. The shower water felt a bit weird on the skin, almost like a film. I wasn't thinking too much into it, but I heard another visitor say the same thing, so maybe look into the water hardness levels? The hair dryer in the room also wasnt very strong and looked a bit old, so was difficult to dry our hair.

Nice location, welcoming check- in with good food, bar and restaurant. There is a particularly good variety at the breakfast buffet and individual yoghurts are great to see rather than a big bowl. Staff warm, kind and helpful. Having seen some poor reviews after booking we were apprehensive however we had an enjoyable stay. We didn’t see or experience anything disappointing that other customers seem to have experienced.

Property is a little tired and needs a refresh although our room and the public areas that we used were fine. There’s a pretty big hole in the driveway to watch out for on arrival. The lift is currently out of action. We’ve been visiting this hotel for over 40 years with it in various ownership and because of its countryside position and grounds still has great potential.

Myself & my son loved the stay! The staff couldn’t have been more kind & helpful and really did make my me & my son feel so welcome! We really appreciated the complimentary breakfast you allowed my son to have! 10/10 for the staff & food & drinks reasonably priced! So thank u for a brilliant weekend!

Only downside was the room itself was pretty run down, ripped curtains, flakey paint, extractor fan caked in dust in the bathroom, no air con & damage throughout the hotel I.e leaks so i do think it’s a slight rip off to charge customers for a 4* room when in reality that’s not what u pay for. Windows were filthy with cobwebs & spiders all over the room. I have some pictures I will attach! I am only sharing this with you to consider updating or reduce ur pricing to reflect the reality, not looking to leave a negative review.

Its friendly and good for dog owners that they are so welcoming to pets. Comfortable for a one or two night stay. Bar area and food good.

Parts of the building need upgrade. The wood on the building outside our room was very shabby and in clear need of repair., and was very unsightly.The curtains in the room were torn and the radiator at the end of the corridor near the fire exit had clearly been leaking for some time causing staining to the carpet and surrounds.

Fabulous breakfast choice on offer and well cooked and staff very willing to please and be kind whenever you asked for anything!! Best stay with food in a long time, and an army of staff keep it ship-shape on time. Lovely atmosphere.

Servery temperature was not keeping food toasty, mushrooms were noticeably cool. Due to late booking for a nearby event, appeared to be long walk to room, so an offer of help or some rear access for luggage would have been a great idea, if possible and escorted. I realise that one staff on desk as we arrived late at night so not unexpected to have limited staff after midnight. Great place, I would recommend it and use it again. Xx

Food prepared for guests in afternoon following a funeral. Staff set up at side of bar with enough seating for us all. Special dietary requirement for an individual guest was catered for without fuss. Bar snack menu was very limited but tasty.

Breakfast was extremely disappointing we cancelled breakfast on second day. Coffee and tea cold from pump flasks not worth the cost. Eggs were scrambled and for some reason orange! This part of hotels needs extreme reevaluation.

I had a request that was originally deemed not possible, however having reached out again all was accepted. I feel the hotel is what people might describe as "dated". I however appreciate it's NOT a modern chain hotel. I like wardrobes and draws, even a hair dryer. this hotel also had a fan AND an iron and board in the wardrobe! I took my breakfast rather late, but I was able to still eat a full English breakfast.

I did not remember to point it out to the receptionist, but I felt the shower could do with a new head.

Excellent value for money, clean comfortable toom with good wardrobe and drawer space,, comfortable bed. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, and included very good bacon. This is an independent hotel where the owners are clearly trying very hard

Hotel is on an historic site with extensive grounds but is not pretty., with many extensions to original core. However, if you are looking for a good stopover or base for exploring the area and even London, it represents good value.

All went well. I The rooms are situation in a bit of a maze and the hotel needs a little updating. However the staff were really friendly and efficient. The bed was comfortable and the room satisfactory. The breakfast was only OK. See below

The breakfast could have been better. It seemed very sparse and not much fruit. Jam and marmalade were in tiny packets and I had to request marmalade and had the last one that they had!! However it was OK.

Quiet, nice grounds, good location

A couple of minor things could have been improved in the room - bedside light not working, shabby frayed curtains, safety catch on window easy to remove. Also our room was a long walk up and down steps and corridors from the reception!
