My bed was comfortable, the shower room was spacious, the ladies on the reception desk were lovely and friendly. Car parking was appreciated.

I had a room downstairs and it was VERY noisy outside my room after midnight (apparently a group of men had been out celebrating and were all staying at The Penny Farthing). They were also up early and very loud as they said their goodbyes. Another guest complained too (so not just me who had interrupted sleep)

Location was great. Communication on the lead up was very good. The staff were helpful and the room was very comfortable.

It would have been ideal to have a fridge in the room. I booked on Booking.com which said ‘kids sleep free’ but there was a £30+ price increase when I added my 4 month old baby - in other words, kids do not stay for free. The advice was to cancel on Booking.com and rebook direct for a small discount but it was only a marginal saving and not close enough to the original price to be worth the risk of losing the room. They were not able to help further and match the original price. The shower also changed temperature constantly.

Second time of staying at this hotel, just for one night this time. I was on the ground floor in a twin room which was an acceptable size with the facilities i needed, hairdryer for example. The location of this hotel is great being on Berkhamsted High Street a short walk from the station. 20% on food at the sister hotel The King Arms. Very good breakfast cooked to order. Had a lovely meal in the evening, very well looked after with my father in law. Food Intolerances well understood and catered for.

This room can be a bit noisy as in the walk way to the car park.

Staff were very friendly. Central location. Good blackout curtains and quiet area. Comfortable bed.

The room was very dark, it was in a covered alleyway with no natural light available and only dull wall lighting which had to be on constantly or you couldn't see. Breakfast would have been nice. Room needed a few repairs to ceiling and tlc in the bathroom.

My room had a very good size modern shower room with a double size shower . The bedroom was a reasonable size for a few nights stay and quite quiet and comfortable. Plenty of space to unpack a few things and sufficient hangers. Iron and ironing board useful.The breakfasts cooked to order at the sister hotel the Kings Arms were excellent.

Using the code to get into the annex front door as i kept forgeting it and it was a nusience in the dark.

Clean, comfortable room and bathroom, everything in good condition. Great shower, plenty of on-site parking, friendly staff. The bottle of sparkling water was a nice touch. Air-con not working, but they did provide a fan.

I didn't want to have to sign up to something to access the Wi-Fi, so I just used my data allowance.

The room and bathroom were clean. The beds were really comfortable. There was a good selection of tea and coffee and biscuits as well. The situation of the hotel in the middle of Berkhamsted was ideal with plenty of places to go for breakfast nearby and plenty of other places to eat.

Helpful young lady on reception, very good location behind the high street and onsite parking. Room was plenty big enough, clean and comfortable.

Temperature of the room was a little cold for me, the room was next to the walkway and the courtyard (so not particularly private), shower door leaked, so the historic damp areas in the bathroom make it look like a little TLC wouldn't go amiss

We have stayed here before & have it booked again for next year. We love Berkhamsted and it’s so easy to catch the train into London from here. Hotel is in a brilliant location with a good car park. Rooms are basic but very comfy beds and clean.

We always have one of the ground floor rooms which can get a little noisy outside later on but you are in the town so to be expected & not really an issue.

I did not opt out for breakfast. Room was super clean and comfy. Location is middle of the high street, lot of shops nearby. Receptionist was very helpful.

It was behind a restaurant so not easily visible from main road, a sign board will help
