The room was clean, beds comfortable, and nice range of tea/coffee (and gin), and all in all a good base for a weekend in the Chilterns. Staff all friendly and helpful. The restaurant was a good option for our evening meal too.
It was a warm weekend and the room was unbearably hot the whole time, even with the fan supplied. I understand that it’s not possible to install air con in a building of that age, and not sure what else the hotel could do, but I wouldn’t choose to stay there in summer again. The full English breakfast was a bit disappointing, reheated sausages and bacon, a let down considering the quality of the evening meal.

I was given an upgrade which turned out to be a huge ground floor room facing the street. It was well furnished and very comfortable with a small settee under the window and an enormous bed. A free gin and tonic was available and the fridge held small bottles of both full and skimmed milk. There were some nice touches like small pillow sprays and a dressing gown. The decor was very well designed and made for a memorable space. Dinner was excellent with belly pork, ratte potatoes and a tasty salad. The bar and dining space was informal and homely with plenty of indoor and outdoor seats.
Although well equipped, the bathroom was quite narrow with a shower over the bath. The bedroom lighting was dim especially the bedhead lights. As with any rooms fronting a busy street, the window was sealed to shut out the noise but it made an airless room which was not conducive to a good night's sleep.

The room was very good and the bathroom had a walk-in shower. The breakfast was truly excellent. Everything you could wish for from fresh fruit to a full English. We also had a snack in the bar on arrival which was good. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would certainly stay again - especially if they fix the room lighting (see below)
The only problem was the absolutely appalling room lighting. There were 3 lights on dimmer switches but they only went from off to dim. There was not light enough to read by. The maid told me she sometimes even has to use her phone to see to clean!! I made Reception aware and they said they will pass it on. Hopefully it will be fixed!

There were so many extras that went beyond the call. The gentleman who booked us in carried our luggage upstairs for us. He quickly had the room rearranged from a double to a twin. We loved the fridge in the room and the 3 little bottles of fresh milk for the hot refreshments. The shower was easy to operate and the non slip floor surface was a life saver for an old gal like me. In the cupboard there was an additional heater and Dyson cooler, and the spray for the pillow was lovely and the evening meal was superb. I really hope we come to Wendover again so we can stay with you again.
We could not get GB news on the TV. That's channel 236 in case you don't know. x

Excellent location, beautiful hotel, exceptional staff. I stayed at the hotel as I was attending a wedding nearby. I wasn’t able to check into my room as I was very early, but the staff were incredibly accommodating in helping me to leave my things in the room and get ready. I rang whilst at the wedding to say we’d be too late to collect the keys, and again, the staff were so helpful and helped us to access the room once we returned. The room was beautiful and I slept very well. At breakfast we were greeted with friendly smiles and a delicious full English breakfast. This hotel restored my faith in the kindness of hotel staff! It really does change the whole experience. Couldn’t fault anything about this hotel.
Nothing - loved it all!

The welcome as usual was very friendly and we were promptly given our key and shown to our room, which was in the pub garden block. The room was comfortable, fairly spacious with large bed and nice and warm. We always appreciate the complimentary Sipsmiths Sloe Gin and the tea/coffee offer, including Nespresso machine and some excellent chocolate biscuits. We had dinner in the restaurant for the first time, and although my husband's fish and chips was a little overdone, the food generally was good. The roaring fires in the bar and restaurant make for a cosy feel in the cold, wet weather too. We also enjoyed breakfast, with fresh fruit and yoghurt and a variety of eggs (full breakfasts also available). The location is great, a short walk from shops, restaurants and pubs - of which there are plenty in the town. The on-site car park is definitely a bonus.
On arrival we found that neither of the bedside lamps worked. One of the staff tried to find replacements, but couldn't, so the room was very dark.

The staff were excellent, lovely welcome. We liked the good quality tea, coffee, chocolates and also the sloe gin. First class toiletries in the bathroom. Wonderful pub atmosphere. Comfy bed.
A few things could be improved: The room was cold on arrival but just needed a radiator to be turned on. The coffee machine did not work. No sloe gin in the bottle but staff kindly replaced this. It was not clear how to turn on the towel rail in the bathroom. Room 8 badly needs to be repainted as paint was chipped in several places, and could do with being totally refurbished as other reviews indicated it looks tired. Shabby without the chic. All that being said we would still return, just not to Room 8.

Bar, very nice with original features and good real beer and food. Rooms obviously recently refurbished to a very high standard (except for lighting). Bathrooms also to a high standard. Location perfect, bang in the centre of town. Good on site parking. Restaurant pricy but good and breakfast choices very good.
Two rooms requested for Mr. and Mrs. but supplied with rooms 5 fire-doors and ten stair steps away! Lighting in the rooms grossly inadequate. Bedside lights good but ceiling light fitted with "mood" bulb with element barely orange. There was no writing desk light at all. At checkout the receptionist seemed aware of this and didn't comment on my complaint. TV not working, poor signal. I didn't complain about these aspects until departure due to my short stay.

Well appointed room, with a comfortable, large bed and a large, clean, en suite bathroom. The room felt very calming and quiet, despite facing the main road, although the lighting could have been brighter as my partner found it difficult to apply make-up etc in the bedroom. Our breakfast was included in the price and was very enjoyable, with a variety of quality food and drink on offer.
Lack of signage for hotel guests on arrival. No separate check-in desk, so needed to wait at the bar to check in. Was not asked during check-in if I had arrived by car so this wasn’t noted (even though this was made clear with the online check-in) and I received a £100 penalty notice a couple of days later for using the hotel car park. I contacted the hotel and the matter was resolved and the ticket rescinded.

Staff and setting excellent, food was also good along with a good wine selection. The complimentary G & T in the room was a happy bonus! And breakfast was enjoyable. The room was small but well appointed, I booked standard, so this was expected.
Unfortunately, there was a piece of machinery or something making an intermittent vibrating whirring noice on and off all night just slong ftom my room. The emergency night manager tried sorting but not successfully. Reported on my departure, so hopefully, all now resolved.
