The Ollerod lives up to all the positive reviews we read here. Our room was beautiful, large and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Food (both dinner and breakfast) was excellent and varied. The facilities are simple enough but good. Very nice bar, restaurant and walled garden areas. The hotel's location is quite off the beaten track but Beaminster is a great starting-point from which to explore all areas of Dorset, as well as being an attractive place in itself with many local walks and attractions.

There is nothing not to like. The bar and restaurant tend to close early (around 9 pm) which is not a problem at all, but should be noted.

The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The bed was nice and large and was comfortable. The staff were excellent - friendly and helpfull. The breakfasts were excellent.

I was a little disappointed with the dinner on Thursday - our only dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was generally too complicated for my liking; also my half-lobster had about an egg cup full of meat, so £30 was rather a high price for that. Car parking was a bit of a problem.

All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable. Lovely shower and very comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the creamy scrambled egg on toast and also the great choice of fruit.

We stayed in Room 8. I found the table of teas, coffees etc a little cramped and perhaps not in the most suitable area of the room. The room was a little dark - perhaps needs a bit more main lighting. The payment to Booking.com should be made more obvious, as I paid twice by mistake. However, fortunately, this was quickly put right.

Room 5 very comfortable and lovely walk-in shower. Really good breakfast - lots of different fruits, cereals and yoghurts to choose from, in addition to cooked breakfast. Staff were pleasant and welcoming.

When I checked out, there was again confusion about my booking.com pre-payment. Evening meal was ok, but not a lot of choice, not many vegetables and rather over-priced. Drinks from the bar a bit over-priced.

Pleasant characterful property with nice areas to relax and eat. The bedroom was spacious with comfortable bed. It had seating and plenty of storage. The bathroom was good with a deep bath and plenty of hot water. The evening meal was delicious.

Nothing apart from a fan from the kitchen below our window at the back which was quite loud. It did stop at night though.

The Ollerod is in a beautiful location - picture postcard pretty. The old building oozes charm and the room was clean and comfortable. Excellent food - really good breakfast and the dinner was superb. But best of all- the staff who were super friendly and helpful.

Only one small niggle - the plug in the basin wouldn’t stay down.

We recently had a one night stay at The Ollerod, the staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good the only disappointment was that the kippers weren't available.

A blind or curtain is needed In the bathroom, anyone in the car park can see straight into the shower! There wasn't any food available despite it being a Saturday evening.

Excellent food, lovely atmosphere, wonderful staff. I stayed there during Storm Darragh which resulted in the power being down at the hotel for nearly 12 hours. Candles and battery operated lamps together with extra bedding were provided. Nothing was too much trouble.

Clean, comfy, cozy, nice big bathroom and shower/tub, all amenities, quiet, easy check-in/check-out, responsive staff, attractive venue. Super breakfast in charming garden-room, nice pub. Lovely garden w/table service. Good, easy, safe, free parking. Lovely village. Big comfy bed. Authentic English village atmosphete. Pleasant helpful staff.

Be sure to get a detailed, on-site, in-person tutorial on how to operate the weird fixture that regulates the water flow in the shower/tub. No iron.

Great shower, nice bedroom, quality supper though the lamb was delicious I was a tad surprised that I only had two pieces of lamb. Good wine selection and lovely ambience. Most staff were friendly and attentive.

My only gripe was that the breakfast was a tad small. One small black pudding the size of 10p and one mushroom as part of the cooked breakfast.
