We were lucky to have a good connection with the owner, Caroline, as she is a lady who has much to tell, is interested in us and we had a lot of good laughs. We stayed for 4 nights in a very comfortable room and had a Downton Abbye experience at breakfast. Caroline was very helpfull and provided us even with a picknick basket to have our evening meal in her great great garden. The house itself is a very interesting building with a very personal touch. Everything was Spic and Span. There is so much to do and see in Somerset and Dorset and we got very good advice. Caroline thank you so much!!

Zero!

Absolutely wonderful luxury experience for us and our 4 younger children, which I know is not the usual B&B clientele! In the middle of an extended travel holiday of all sorts of quality-levels, this property and wonderful host Caroline was by far our most memorable stay. The suite on the top floor was perfectly appointed for a family. Children played in garden and tennis courts, followed Sam the dog (a bit too much perhaps), we were able to park our mammoth rental van in the parking accommodations, have wine on the patio, breakfasts were a delight, and the property itself is just stunning and so well decorated. The location is perfect for small day excursions exploring Dorset and the Jurassic coast and we had the most fantastic dinner at a pub down the road. This stay experience will be such a core memory for myself and children.

There is nothing to dislike.

For 49 hours I felt like a duchess - it was beyond wonderful luxury! The bed was the most comfy bed I have ever slept in, the linen and towels were top quality. The toiletries were the ultimate in pampering!!! Caroline was such an amazing hostess - who served the most delicious breakfasts!! there is nothing even remotely negativeI could say about this property

There is not one thing I could say could be improved!

This place is a tucked away gem. Cosy, well kept and the Host is very attentive to your every need. Our Butterfly Room was very spacious, tastefully decorated & the views across the pretty fields was lovely to wake up to. Had a roll top bath & a shower too. There was plenty communal rooms to chill out in downstairs, Music Room, TV Room & a lovely dining room to eat our very tasty & well presented Breakfast, which was taylor made to our requests each morning. The Old Rectory is set in lovely well maintained grounds and is quiet & relaxing. Free Parking is on site too. A wonderful getaway and well worth every penny staying there. We were totally relaxed and felt very much at home. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Only wish we could have stayed longer, but given the opportunity we will return.

Our host Caroline made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Tea and biscuits in Caroline's amazing garden upon arrival, extra coffee in the morning, a sumptuous breakfast that keeps you going all day and so on - nothing, really nothing was missing. Caroline would also give you excellent local advice about places in the neighbourhood to visit, restaurants and whatever you need to know.

I really cannot think on anything.

Caroline is a wonderful host in a wonderful home in which she encourages you to make yourself at home, help yourself to tea, coffee, biscuits or even a stronger drink House and grounds are beautiful. I have stayed in many B&Bs throughout the world, and this is by far the best. Breakfast was terrific with fresh eggs from her own hens. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

There was nothing to dislike.

Everything about our stay was a delight. Caroline is a perfect host, who will treat you as a guest in the true sense -nothing is too much trouble, and you feel very quickly that you are 'at home'. The location is a perfect English village, and the house is gracious and tasteful. Breakfast is delicious , and served on beautiful English china in the traditional manner. We were very sad to leave, and are already making plans to return as soon as possible. A holiday to remember, always.

There is nothing whatever that could be improved upon.

Everything. It was clean & tidy . Very well decorated and beautifully furnished making it feel very homely . The bedroom and bathroom were no different , our host Caroline had catered for everything you could possibly need . Outside , the gardens are just the same , lovingly cared for. There’s also a tennis court plus other ball games if you’re feeling energetic. Parking is ample, off road & secluded.

Honestly there is nothing to complain about.

Where to begin... Our stay was perfect. This property is exceptionally well-maintained, the garden is such a lovely place to have the afternoon tea, the breakfast is tasty, the place is clean and full of character. Our host has been incredibly pleasant throughout the stay, providing us with great recommendations in the area, and genuinely caring for our well-being. We cannot stress enough how much we appreciated this personal touch, and the kindness we were welcomed with. The Old Rectory is such a charming place, with a decoration style that perfectly matched our expectations. The breakfast is served in nice cutlery and china, the beds are super comfortable, you can spot squirrels running around in the garden, the furniture is admirable. Thank you for this wonderful bit of English countryside.

From the moment we arrived, our warm welcome from Caroline we felt all would be amazing, it was. Our stay was filled with care & touched with luxury, an original period home that one dreams of, what a treat, from a sumptuous bed, to indulgent bathroom with slipper bath, relaxing scented toiletries, incredible views, grounds to delight at every turn. Peaceful rural area near to good pub/ restaurant, village store. Delicious, breakfast local produce, eggs were direct from the resident hens, all cooked to perfection. We could go on & on, superb, can’t wait to return ….
