Staff were so friendly and welcoming which is always a good start and our dog was made very welcome too. Cherie (or Sherry, not sure) greeted us with a smile and throughout our stay made sure we had everything we needed. Our room was up some stone steps from the courtyard and was facing the road. Good secondary double glazing meant it was quiet even though facing the through traffic. Large bed 6ft+ wide (nb bed base was low to the ground so might not suit everyone but if you can manage stone steps then it probably won't be a problem) and delight of delights, it had the most lovely comfortable, high quality, 100% cotton bed linen which is always a good sign that they have thought of guest comfort. Good shower over a bath tub (made use of the bath too and hot water was plentiful). We were there in glorious weather so made use of the pretty courtyard for pre-dinner drinks and also the following morning to relax before setting off. Our dinner in the pub was really lovely. They serve 'Original Maids of Honour' pies (look them up, they are in Kew) but the night we were there they only had the beef pie, no chicken pie. Didn't matter as I chose the salmon cooked with sumac and (very buttery) new potatoes while my husband had the beef pie. Its served as a slice from a large pie and is stuffed full of delicious beef. We were pretty full after that so only had one dessert and Billy, who had been due to go home as they kitchen had closed, stayed on a bit longer to prepare the dessert which he presented beautifully. We made sure to tell Sophie the manager how good we found everything and its clear they are working hard to please their customers and have plans to refurbish and open up another room or two. We had managed to park for free in the Church car park (they have an arrangement I think) but if that is full then parking is available for a fee at the nearby Lanes Hotel. The village itself is very pretty with a couple of walks and a pretty Church yard.
Can't think of anything

Lovely spacious ground floor room at this old coaching inn, right at the heart of a small village. It was full of character and very comfy. The original fireplace is now a little sitting nook, and the exposed beams, flagstone floors and original doors added appeal. We enjoyed our meal in the bar area and the staff were warm and welcoming. We slept soundly in the comfortable beds.
Parking nearby was challenging due to the popularity of the inn and the topography of the village - probably a common difficulty and something beyond their control.

Beautiful 'oldy worldy' rom with lovely period features. Very comfortable. Nice to have not only tea and coffee provided, but also bottles of water too. The staff were very accommodating and friendly-even finding us a table for dinner when they were very busy. The pub/restaurant is lovely-full of character and very inviting. We enjoyed our evening.
I wish we'd been told about how noisy the room was. Being a very old property, the windows were single glazed and our bathroom backed on to the courtyard. The staff were quick to respond to our query of when the pub closed (due to the noise) but it might be worth mentioning at the time of booking. If breakfast could have been provided, it would have been a real bonus.

What a cozy little find this place was. There were lots of features from the original coaching inn and you really could enjoy the history of the place. Our room was big and well-appointed with all mod cons and immaculately clean. The room we were allocated was on the ground floor, as we had specifically requested and our late check in was easily accommodated. There was separate main entrance for our rooms so we were not disturbed in any way by the pub, but it was a nice old untied village pub with real ales and local ciders so we wouldn't have minded anyway. The room was very warm with traditional central heating we are used to at home so we could have it as warm as we liked (and we like it warm!). The food was amazing and the prices very good indeed. We had fresh hake with vegetables in a lovely sauce and the roast lunch with all the trimmings was superb. They even make their own bread. What made the experience exceptional was the staff - they could not do enough for us and were attentive to even the smallest request. We will definitely be returning.
We parked in the nearby church car park. It would be great if it had a car park but you cant have everything and this would not have had a car park in the 1700's!

My friend and I stayed at the New Inn for the weekend as we were visiting friends locally. We ate at the pub both days as the food was super tasty (the menu even changes daily!), the service was good and there is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. A genuinely traditional lovely old pub - kept as it should be, which is such a rare find these days. Our room was lovely, quiet and cosy, with traditional features and even a pretty view out onto the old highstreet. Had everything you could want in terms of facilities and the staff were friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommend!

Amazing old pub with a lovely room, bursting with character from a stone fireplace to the old wooden floor. Staff were lovely, food excellent, had local ales and ciders available (which I always love) and the owner was thoroughly engaging and great to chat to.
Literally only downsides were lack of available parking (although I did park only metres away in the designated post office/butchers parking area) and no breakfast available (I believe as they are only just getting re-established so lacking available staff) but despite this I would go back to this pub - amazing!

The rooms were quaint but well equipped with everything you need. The location was beautiful and lovely walks and very local to Yeovil. We ate in the restaurant and the food was 10/10! Don’t forget to get the onion rings!
The floor in the room was a bit cold underfoot but that’s all I can think of

No breakfast available - but manager offered to arrange breakfast with hotel next door. Liked the new soft furnishings, colours went well with very old building. Good quality bedding and towels.
The bath really let the room down. It wouldn't cost so very much to replace very dated bath with roll top bath which would really elevate the experience of staying here.

Cannot fault this lovely Inn. From the manager Andrew to all the staff are very helpful. Our dinning experience was excellent. I have an allergy and all my request were met. Big thank you to the chef. Can’t thank you all enough. We will be back.
