We had a really lovely and healthy meal of fresh fish and chips cooked to perfection with a lovely side salad, we ate in the bar area as we were a group of four with our pets after a show in Exeter. The table was clean and comfortable with all of the sauces we could want, the service was excellent and we all felt relaxed and welcome. Our rooms were very good, we usually have the disabled room number 7 when we stay, unfortunately it was fully booked this time, so we had room 9 which was very nice and had a mezzanine with stairs going up to two single beds upstairs, being disabled I had the downstairs double which was near the bathroom. The beds were all beautifully laid out and spotlessly clean, with crisp white linen. they were all very comfortable. There were fans in the room, a TV, Kettle, fridge, Tea & coffee making facilities with complimentary biscuits and bottled water in the fridge. The electric sockets have USB charging points for phones etc, There were Lamps downstairs and I managed to plug my CPAP machine in with my extension cable, so that I could put it onto the bedside cabinet for use at night. There was a lovely outside space surrounded by a wooden fence with artificial flowers adorning the top of the fence and a table with three fold up chairs on a decked patio area looking out to the lake. We made use of this area in the evening and the morning and at night, as it was really warm we left the patio doors open to keep the room cool. The bathroom was tidy and compact and had everything a normal person would want. Lovely clean fresh white towels were provided and complementary shower gel, shampoo and hand soap. There was enough draw space in the room and a rack to hang clothes as well as a suitcase rack. The walks around the lake and surrounding area were very nice. Breakfast was excellent with fruit juice, cereals, toast and an excellent full English cooked to perfection with a choice of tea or coffee. The breakfast room was large and well set out.

The only thing for me personally being a little on the large side and disabled was the shower cubicle was a little tight for me, and I would like to see another bin in the bathroom, as well as the small bin for tea bags in the bedroom as being three ladies we had a little more waste than the bins could cope with. Other than that everything was great and we will be back !

Staff were very accommodating as they cooked something for me in the evening, that was on the previous menu that I saw online, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was laid out well, lots of choice of cereal, bread and the cooked breakfast was served efficiently and was hot. We were staying there for a two night break as we had a wedding in Yeovil so it was very convenient for our needs and we would recommend. The view across the lake at the back was very pretty.Plenty of parking as well.

The place is situated on a busy road but we were amazed how quiet it was at night, so we slept well. The owner told us how to find it at night, as no ‘ markers’ outside, so we missed the tight turn when we arrived earlier. We were not sure what time we were arriving back after the wedding but he kindly left the light on outside which helped, plus he told us what to look for, depending which direction we were coming later, which was a great help. 3rd stay here- we love it. Downstairs rooms available (we specifically asked for one) otherwise up a flight of stairs, large car park, beautiful fenced off lake to walk around and seating. staff are so friendly and helpful. Fridge, fan & kettle in the room, water and biscuits there on arrival along with tea, coffee & hot chocolate. Comfy beds, amazing meals in the evening, lots of choice, brilliant portion size. So friendly with our child age 7, the chef came out every night to say hello & even offered our daughter a meal that wasn’t on the menu! 40 minutes from Longleat, 20 minutes from Barrington Court national trust house & gardens.

Everything lovely, couldn’t have asked for anything more! 3rd time staying here.

Very pleasantly surprised by our family room. Nice size, split over 2 floors, beds were comfortable, lovely shower, and it had French doors out to a small decked area. Fantastic! The quality of the breakfast was superb, and plenty of choice too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We hadn't checked in as expected on our day of arrival, and we received a telephone call to check if we would need any food as it was late evening. Exceptional service, thank you. We visit family in Yeovil regularly, and will definitely stay here again in future.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly in the dining room where they were very willing to shift furniture around to accommodate our large group. Staff lovely in the bar area too - lots of room for us plus children and grandchildren and good bar snacks. Overall the hospitality was excellent.

we had two single beds which were very narrow and mattresses were soft. The rest of the family had lively large family rooms - our’s was really just too small. Also not very keen on the external door near our room staying open day and night.

The HHI Country Lodge has a very friendly and helpful team. I liked being shown to my room with information about dinner and breakfast times en route. Dog friendly with a few treats on hand and there is a pond behind the Inn that was great for walking the dog.

No privacy screening to the windows unless the curtains or blind was closed. Windows open to communal path. Fridge was switched off when I arrived and water warm.

Steve the host was brilliant, even called us before we arrived to see if we’d like dinner and greeted us on arrival. The accommodation was large, very clean and comfortable. Large tv, nice balcony and large accessible bathroom. The setting of the accommodation was lovely, with a cosy pub/restaurant with a lake at the back. Lots of parking . We felt really welcome and would definitely recommend.

I’ve stayed at the Halfway House Inn many times and it’s the location, the accommodation, the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness that always makes it a pleasure to stay at. Competitively priced and having good road links makes it easy for travelling. Located not too far from Yeovil means it’s only about 15 minutes from the town centre but has great countryside views and a lake behind the Inn. Would recommend it for anyone wanting to get away and explore the area.

Stopped couple of days on way to West Country. Excellent location. Cosy restaurant. Good choice of food. Fresh ingredients. Beautiful views from room at rear. Loved watching swallows diving for insects over the lake. Husband enjoyed catching numerous fish, all in excellent condition.

I like dogs but not in restaurants. OK in public bar.

The Halfway House Inn is perfectly positioned for easy access to the surrounding area and attractions (National Trust, Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovil, Sherborne, etc). The breakfasts are super, there is a slight DIY element to tea/coffee/toast which is not be a problem and helps to cut down on waste. Our room was a 'lodge' outside of the main building with direct access to the car park. Pretty much everything you could need in the room including a fridge. The current owners are currently in the process of a phased renovation and redecoration project, so things can only get even better.

Would have liked to see carpet rather than hard floor, but understand that this can be problematic with people coming straight in from outside - perhaps provision of a brush for grit removal? Being close to the back entrance means people walking past, perhaps a mirrored film on the windows to add a little more privacy whilst perched on the bed reading before tea time? Overall very good stay with nothing much to grumble about!
