Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was reasonable and big portions but lack of a starter option ruined it a little for us

our room was lovely but cold on arrival and facing the main road a little bit noisy and could benefit from secondary glazing to help with this. we came back from a show expecting to get a nightcap before bed ( just after 10pm) and bar was already in darkness and locked up. staff didn't tell us we would have to go all the way around the back to get in after a certain time and discovered this myself ...then found the lighting quite poor and had to guide my husband as he couldn't see enough to be safe

We had a delay due to an accident on the M3, which held us there for a few hours and pushed us past the closing hours of the restaurant. Steve (who had heard from other customers in the same accident) called my partner and asked if we would like some sandwiches made and left in our room ready for when we arrived, which saved us trying to find a takeaway while trying to settle our 1 year old son. The room was a beautiful family room with lots of space for us and little one to walk around in safely, with views out across the lake. Breakfast is a nice fill-up for the day, along with the evening meal in the restaurant, and the final touch was a relaxing cool beer in the bar. I want to say thank you to Steve and the team at the Halfway House. You made a hectic evening turn into a restful night. We were all relaxed again to enjoy the final day of our holiday. We loved everything about our stay at the Halfway House Inn, the staff are amazing and friendly, our room was very comfortable and very clean. Housekeeping called in everyday and left our room so lovely to come back to after our daily outings! Breakfast that is included in the price was superb cooked by our lovely cook Ang and she was wonderful. The dinner we had was delicious and piping hot. Absolute fantastic stay that is highly recommended , when we visit from Australia again in the future we will be back!

Absolutely love this accommodation, nothing we did not like.

It was like a little apartment, so cute and comfy with a working tv. The shower was hot and even had a good hairdryer to use after. We all had a good night sleep, even the dog. The view from the patio doors was looking out over a lake, that when we was up the next morning we could watch people racing their remote controlled boats across it. We had dinner in the pub, which was amazing, home cooked food. Our dog was welcome. The pub was warm and very welcoming. The staff were really friendly and chatty, even the locals made conversation with us. We didn't stay for breakfast as we ate so big the night before but I'm sure it would have been delicious. Would we go back again, yes we would.

We had a really lovely and healthy meal of fresh fish and chips cooked to perfection with a lovely side salad, we ate in the bar area as we were a group of four with our pets after a show in Exeter. The table was clean and comfortable with all of the sauces we could want, the service was excellent and we all felt relaxed and welcome. Our rooms were very good, we usually have the disabled room number 7 when we stay, unfortunately it was fully booked this time, so we had room 9 which was very nice and had a mezzanine with stairs going up to two single beds upstairs, being disabled I had the downstairs double which was near the bathroom. The beds were all beautifully laid out and spotlessly clean, with crisp white linen. they were all very comfortable. There were fans in the room, a TV, Kettle, fridge, Tea & coffee making facilities with complimentary biscuits and bottled water in the fridge. The electric sockets have USB charging points for phones etc, There were Lamps downstairs and I managed to plug my CPAP machine in with my extension cable, so that I could put it onto the bedside cabinet for use at night. There was a lovely outside space surrounded by a wooden fence with artificial flowers adorning the top of the fence and a table with three fold up chairs on a decked patio area looking out to the lake. We made use of this area in the evening and the morning and at night, as it was really warm we left the patio doors open to keep the room cool. The bathroom was tidy and compact and had everything a normal person would want. Lovely clean fresh white towels were provided and complementary shower gel, shampoo and hand soap. There was enough draw space in the room and a rack to hang clothes as well as a suitcase rack. The walks around the lake and surrounding area were very nice. Breakfast was excellent with fruit juice, cereals, toast and an excellent full English cooked to perfection with a choice of tea or coffee. The breakfast room was large and well set out.

The only thing for me personally being a little on the large side and disabled was the shower cubicle was a little tight for me, and I would like to see another bin in the bathroom, as well as the small bin for tea bags in the bedroom as being three ladies we had a little more waste than the bins could cope with. Other than that everything was great and we will be back !

Staff were very accommodating as they cooked something for me in the evening, that was on the previous menu that I saw online, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was laid out well, lots of choice of cereal, bread and the cooked breakfast was served efficiently and was hot. We were staying there for a two night break as we had a wedding in Yeovil so it was very convenient for our needs and we would recommend. The view across the lake at the back was very pretty.Plenty of parking as well.

The place is situated on a busy road but we were amazed how quiet it was at night, so we slept well. The owner told us how to find it at night, as no ‘ markers’ outside, so we missed the tight turn when we arrived earlier. We were not sure what time we were arriving back after the wedding but he kindly left the light on outside which helped, plus he told us what to look for, depending which direction we were coming later, which was a great help. Thankyou.

The room had been cleaned as I had allergies to feathers and any animal furs, so they made sure it was immaculate. I had no trouble during our 3 day stay.Breakfast was brilliant, served by very help staff. Chef accommodated food wants too. When I asked for fish and chips he even made me curry sauce to go with it. Loved everything.

There was nothing we didn’t like. The hotel was so clean and even funny when they ran out of toast nearly one morning, as one table nearly ate it all…🤣. We would come back again. So Thankyou.

Stayed here 5 nights while visiting family & friends.Really friendly hospitable staff! Excellent menu! My husband enjoyed full English breakfast 5 mornings in a row while I was treated to excellent poached eggs! We were running late one evening, called to ask if a meal could be left for us & we returned to a plate & a half of delicious fish, chips & salad each! Comfy beds. Very useful fridge in our room to keep our water cold. Thank you so much!

3rd stay here- we love it. Downstairs rooms available (we specifically asked for one) otherwise up a flight of stairs, large car park, beautiful fenced off lake to walk around and seating. staff are so friendly and helpful. Fridge, fan & kettle in the room, water and biscuits there on arrival along with tea, coffee & hot chocolate. Comfy beds, amazing meals in the evening, lots of choice, brilliant portion size. So friendly with our child age 7, the chef came out every night to say hello & even offered our daughter a meal that wasn’t on the menu! 40 minutes from Longleat, 20 minutes from Barrington Court national trust house & gardens.

Everything lovely, couldn’t have asked for anything more! 3rd time staying here.

Very pleasantly surprised by our family room. Nice size, split over 2 floors, beds were comfortable, lovely shower, and it had French doors out to a small decked area. Fantastic! The quality of the breakfast was superb, and plenty of choice too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We hadn't checked in as expected on our day of arrival, and we received a telephone call to check if we would need any food as it was late evening. Exceptional service, thank you. We visit family in Yeovil regularly, and will definitely stay here again in future.
