The location and staff were fantastic. The restaurant food was exceptional, fresh and beautifully presented. We ate here every morning and evening as the food was so good. Room was so comfortable and clean with everything you need, with a gorgeous view. Bar and terrace lovely and welcoming. Great for our little dog with lawned area at the top of the car park and round the back for short walks if required. Would highly recommend this hotel, bar and restaurant, great value for money. We will definitely return, a little gem!
Absolutely nothing we didn't like about this wonderful hotel, we couldn't fault it at all!

Good choice of breakfast options from full English or vegetarian option, to any personal request for example poached eggs on toast. Excellent breakfast selection laid out from yogurt, cereals, make your toast and a variety of fruit juices. Evening meals they offer a restaurant or cafe style. Both offer a great selection and the portions are a good size. The rooms face the rear of the property overlooking farmland. As a result this offers a quiet environment and you are not aware of the A1. The double room was a good size and the bathroom was large with a walk-in shower The room is provided with a heat and an additional blanket - not required on this trip as it was a heatwave!
The bedroom door handle had seen better days and was a little loose but locked okay. The Lodge was a little too hot due to no air con but with the windows open there was sufficient cool air

We liked everything about this amazing little place. The location was perfect for were we were going . The service was excellent at breakfast and in the evening. The food was outstanding and the chocices on meals was really very good. We ate every night as the food was so good ,all home cooked and bought locally. This is one of the best places I have stayed and deserves its 4 star rating. Our rooms we're clean and very comfortable beds on the ground floor as I requested for my 81yr old Mum,& my knee after Manipulation. Thank you all the staff at Purby Lodge, you are doing a wonderful job. X

Upon our arrival, we were greeted and checked in swiftly - the lovely lady on reception, told us what time the restaurant was open until and when breakfast would be available. We then headed to our room which was beautifully clean and had everything we needed - the only thing that could’ve been a bonus would’ve been a built-in hairdryer or something off the likes. Dinner in the restaurant that evening was delicious, glad that they sourced meat locally and the bar is absolutely beautiful. Both had a great night sleep my brother and I were very impressed at the comfortability of the single beds and we are more than impressed in the morning when we headed for breakfast beautiful quality very quick service and was absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend.
The only thing I would say that could be better is nonslip mat to be provided for bath without having to ask at reception and maybe a couple of other options for fruit on the continental breakfast.

Central for sightseeing. Lovely people running the Lodge. Situated within easy reach of Berwick, Holy Island, Farn Islands, Alnwick gardens, Alnwick Castle Alnwick,. Very comfortable warn accommodation. We had inclusive breakfast, which was plentiful and cooked fresh. Choice of full English, cereals, continental, toast, fresh orange juice, yoghurt, and milk all available and if anything ran short it was refilled just for the asking. Nothing was too much trouble. Bedrooms faced the fields and even though it has main road, petrol station, and lorry parkup, ajoining there was no noise.
We hadn't expected petrol station adjacent. Just spoiled the LOOK on arrival..

Friendly helpful staff; good breakfast and dinner. Lovely view from our first floor room across to Bamburgh Castle and the sea. Handy having the petrol station and little shop next door and the 24 hour cafe should we have needed it. Excellent location for visiting the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Bamburgh Castle and the beautiful sandy beaches on that stretch of coast and the town of Alnwick with its castle and lovely gardens and second hand bookshop, Barters, in the converted Victorian railway station.
The bedside lighting was insufficient for reading and the room was rather warm at night

The room had a lovely view of Bamburgh Castle across fields of barley. There were house-martens nesting under the eaves and flitting about outside the window, making little squeaking noises. The bed was comfortable and didn't make squeaking noises! The bathroom was clean and, apart from the weakest shower on the planet, adequate. The room did get very hot, as it faced the sun for most of the day, but the rest of the building was relatively cool, so there was somewhere to hide from the heat. The restaurant served tasty and reasonably priced food and the bar had a decent selection of drinks, again at reasonable prices. Breakfast was ample, well cooked and with plenty of choice. The location is extremely convenient - next to the A1, but with no noise from the road, and only a 15-minute drive to the coast at Bamburgh or Seahouses.
The receptionist on duty when we arrived was a tad unwelcoming, but we only saw her on the first evening and all of the other staff were friendly and helpful. As I mentioned, the shower was incredibly feeble.

We were definately impressed with this accomodation. We booked as it was in easy reach to several tourist spots we wanted to visit and at a price we could afford. The staff were lovely, the rooms were clean & comfortable, the area was quiet even though its situated next to the main A1 road. Very nice restaurant on site (the sea bream is one of the best we have tasted) with a cafe next door that is open to the early hours of the morning and a gas station open 24hrs. Great breakfast in the morning. Free parking and pet friendly. Highly recommended.
We couldn't fault this accomondation.

My daughter and I were travelling with a large dog - he is well behaved but we always feel a bit anxious if we stay anywhere, even though places claim to be pet friendly. We were also extremely tired as we stopped over on our way back from an Easter weekend trip to Scotland and visiting Lindesfarne and Holy Island on our way back home to Berkshire. I expected a motel kind of feel but couldn’t believe how tasty and high quality the menu and food was - absolutely fabulous meal. Breakfast was good too. The staff made us feel welcome and were really accommodating with the dog, letting us take a corner table and just being generally helpful. The accommodation was bang on and just what we needed - something as simple as being able to cast to the room tv from the iPad was great as where we’d stayed previously was chrome cast and didn’t work very well. A small thing but just added to the good feeling. Purdy Lodge was a great choice and I’m so pleased we opted to stay there.
Couple of minor points butt not enough to dent scores - 1. the water was very very hot - appreciate there were warnings etc but it was extremely hot - be.careful if have young children.using facilities. 2. The doorbell sound for when food is ready in the restaurant made the dog bark - some dogs are reactive to door bells - may want to think about this if encouraging visits with pets.

Our room was good. I loved the view, the room was bright and spacious and the WiFi was great. All members of staff were friendly and welcoming, great cafe, good breakfast, large bathroom, comfortable beds, plenty of parking spaces and good location.
I lifted the sheets on the beds and the bottom of the beds were heavily stained. The shower was a nightmare as the water was far too hot and I couldn’t adjust the shower to make it more cooler. You’ll know what I mean when you stay. There are also small, thin, black bugs on windowsill and skirting boards. The window looks directly over fields which perhaps could be the cause of these bugs.
