Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food but so it should be for the price. Good beers and wines but so they should be for the price. Attractive, scenic location next to the bridge over the river Wharfe. Good outdoor eating and drinking areas which are well attended in hot weather. Ample parking even when busy.

Not a complaint rather an observation. We arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon and the fields across the river where teaming with people and cars. We thought a festival was being held but were told it's always like that in the summer. TBH it was nice to see families enjoying themselves and having fun in the river. The pub is obviously used to it as they cope well with the extra demand it brings in terms of meals and drinks being purchased. We first visited the hotel in 2013 when it was family run. This is our first visit since Thwaites took control. It's not quite the same, it's good just not exceptional. Food and drinks were good but expensive, which is strange in Yorkshire ;-) I suppose that's the norm now following on from COVID times.

Amazing staff...nothing was a problem. Great food ( I really mean GREAT food) Gavin in the kitchen is really good at what he does. All the boys drink hand pulled real ale, & the beer on offer was in top condition ( I'm a judge at CAMRA. Beer festivals, so I know good beer) . The house wine by the glass was well received by the ladies. House looked after our birthday cake, & provided knife & plates. Great. Lovely comfortable bed, beautiful breakfast. The whole place just exudes a " can do " attitude, all with a smile. ( Bedroom came with a gun safe for shotguns, which probably suggests their usual clientele would be out shooting on the great estates nearby)

The bedroom was a bit tired, but spotless. Mentioned to reception on checkout & she let me know the hotel was in the pipeline for a facelift, but as it was such a historic building, it was being drafted by the architects in a sympathetic way. Watch that space!

Great location , lovely comfortable and well appointed rooms . Breakfast was lovely even for vegetarians like us, with very helpful and friendly staff

Dinner was difficult for us as vegetarians. My first choice was potato pie ( in pastry ) with baked beans and either mashed potato or potato chips. That's 3 potato choices and pastry. Rather a lot of carbohydrates/potato . Little protein or green veg. We settled on the veggie Wellington with Roast potatoes .poor bought in Wellington soggy veg, left the soggy roasts. Apparently it was our fault for not asking for something else!

Excellent location with access to lots of local walks. Pub and restaurant are cosy with good atmosphere. Staff lovely and welcoming. Roaring fire, which was great on a cold day. Room had a great view of river and hills with good selection of tea/coffee. Room was warm with added bonus of a comfy chair and wardrobe.

Floor in bedroom was a little tilted, as you'd expect in a historic building, but that led to bed feeling slanted, we did get used to it fairly quickly. The room was generally clean, just a bit of mould in the bathroom. Stairs up to rooms are quite shallow which made going up and down a little challenging - this is a feature of the original building though so not something that can be altered (just a caution to those with mobility issues as they might find it a bit challenging).

The character and age of the Red Lion added to our enjoyment of our stay Beautiful location with immediate walking access to green spaces and the the River Wharfe. Delicious evening meal and breakfast quality and choice just perfect.

In the evenings the smell from deep fat friers or cooking oil was a little unpleasant, it was particularly prevalent in the front bar area and staircase and landing of the 1st floor bedrooms. Noisy radio/music blaring from the kitchen area on 1 of the mornings of our stay in room no. 5.

Brilliant location on the Wharfe with lots of walking options. Riverside terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a pint (other refreshments are available). The 'cottages' are well-appointed (good little kitchen!) with lots of space to relax after long walks, or afternoons on the terrace. Staff all friendly and breakfasts magnificent!

One tiny quibble - a proper sieve/colander for draining pasta etc., and maybe a pair of scissors would have been perfect. Other than that, the kitchen facilities were great.

The location was excellent for seeing all the All Creatures Great and Small filming locations. We even got to see “Mrs. Hall” and extras filming in Grassington, the next town over. It’s a terrific spot with some wonderful footpaths to enjoy, one in use since 1000 AD. Definitely get out and walk after driving the roads to clear your head, the roads are narrow.

The pub vibe was a bit tepid, not a lively crowd even while watching English football! I would say the restaurant lacks the coziness of others we enjoyed, but the staff was super helpful and kind.

Food was excellent, staff were really helpful and pleasant to talk to.

The hotel is quaint and a proper country pub, but the lounge area resembles my grandma's from the 1950's, not very welcoming or comfortable and really needs decorating and some new furniture. The seats in the modern dining room extension were extremely stained and not inviting to sit on at all, especially in an eating area. Yet a simple wash over with a damp cloth and some detergent would solve this or even invest in a small washer vacuum cleaner. All in all, too much appears to have been spent on the extensions (obviously to cater for weddings and larger groups to bring the revenues in) but i feel that some attention to the main building, its decor and ambiance to spruce it up, make it appear cleaner and more comfortable would go a very very long way.

We have just come home rested and relaxed after a wonderful few days at the Red Lion + Manor House - the room was cosy and comfortable - the staff are absolutely outstanding and made our stay even better - the food is delicious and all the different areas in the main building give you options whatever mood you’re in. I particularly loved the lounge with the open fire especially after our walks in the beautiful countryside. Well done Red Lion, you were amazing ❤️

Absolutely brilliant stay, right from the very start, lovely receptionist to greet us and explain all, bags already in our rooms for us was a fantastic surprise. Rooms were lovely, comfy, clean, everything you needed for a nights stay. Dinner was lovely, good options and the bar staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was another lovely surprise, great service and great options, really delicious. Great stay all round. Highly recommend.
