Nice enough place, staff friendly. Comfy bed and room was big enough with decent sized bathroom and shower, which was hot and good water pressure. Toiletries provided as well as a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Room was serviced daily. Biscuits were given when checking in, nice touch. Ample parking and right on the canal, short walk to town and across from a supermarket. Waiting staff was efficient and friendly.

Our room was at the front, next to a pelican crossing and was noisy early morning with traffic and the crossing. Its right opposite the fire station and train station, didn't have any issues with this only that it was a busy spot. Food was OK, breakfast could have been better. I had scrambled eggs, served not on my toast but were very wet and made my toast soggy where it was sitting in liquid, part of which was inedible. The evening meal, according to my husband, who is an ex Chef, was cook in the bag , we would have thought it was all freshly prepared and cooked in house. The reception has been moved to the bar, possibly due to staffing. Our overall opinion was that the hotel may be "struggling a bit".

Everything was very satisfactory with our stay at Herriots Hotel . The staff were very friendly on arrival and accomodating throughout our stay .The bedroom had a fan which we were pleased about as it was very warm in there. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice from continental to full english plus pastries and croissants . We could not fault the service either . The waiter was very pleasant . Checkout was easy too . Overall we had a pleasant stay and would deffinately recommend and stay again. Nice that parking was included in the price and not an extra .

Our arrival (on St. Swithin's Day) was earlier than we had anticipated, because the weather was seriously wet, but it didn't seem to faze the staff. Our room was large, warm and equipped with all we could have needed. Despite the proximity of the main road, it was quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable, an important point as my wife suffers with back problems. The choice for breakfast was huge. My wife was impressed that there were croissants and fruit: my cooked breakfast arrived quickly after placing the order and was piping hot.

The fact that the lift was out of order was a minor snag. At 88, my mobility is not what it was and the stairs seemed to get longer and steeper with every transit! However, I coped, albeit slowly and sedately.

The room was very nice, spacious and clean. The bathroom was lovely clean and modern. There was a nice bar area with a nice atmosphere.

When we booked, the hotel advised us of a set 2 course meal in their restaurant and to book in advance as it gets very busy. We did but on the night were told theres no room in the restaurant and was given a table in the bar. As the hotel had already took the cost of the set meals out before we booked in we had no option but to eat there. The soup was only warm and the pork very minimal. I was very disappointed and felt it affected my ratings of a good hotel.

Character and proximity to the centre of Skipton

Sadly the dinner on our first night was not good. The meat was either poor quality or badly cooked. I was not the only one to return my meal. Replacement meal wasn’t much better . Still paid full price for it 😒 Went out to eat the following two nights .

The room was lovely, with a 4-poster bed. The bathroom was very luxurious with a large bath. The hotel has a nice bar area, and the general atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel restaurant, where we ate, has a good choice of menu. The starters, desserts and one of the main courses (Beef Daube) were excellent, but the Cheese and Onion Pie was not of the same standard. Breakfast was very good. We felt the hotel represents excellent value for money.

Service in the restaurant was a little slow and chaotic, but this may have been due to new staff. The only slight drawback was that our room was on the road side of the hotel rather than the canal side, so there was a bit of traffic noise in the evening and morning, although overnight the road was quiet. Skipton Railway Station is across the road, but we didn't hear any trains.

room was ok but smaller than anticipated did not have breakfast due to be unwell nice warm room. patio doors need attension. comfy double bed extra pillows.

the bathroom in the room we paid for was ok but the shower was tight to get into and out off if your a person on the larger size. also no instructions on how to work this type of shower it was constantly hot. the sink is not the correct type for a hotel bathroom as water went down back and sides. toilet need needs fixing and flush is very poor

I had read some mixed reviews about staying at Herriots Hotel, but I have to say that those reviews could not have been further from our own experience. Welcoming staff (particularly attentive to the pooch which he really appreciated, especially the sausages at breakfast!), comfortable and clean. The choice at Breakfast was good and they catered really well for vegans (including pastries!). Everything was cooked to order and fresh. Just a short walk into the centre along the lovely canal. Ours was only a quick stay, but we would certainly stay again.

The location was central and convenient for the town and station. The hotel itself is very nice, if perhaps a bit scruffy in places where the rooms are. Good, helpful staff, reasonable selection of food for breakfast and dinner. Comfortable bed.

I thought it was a bit overpriced. Our room was not large and the bathroom very small. The area where the rooms are located was a bit scruffy in places. The whole place could perhaps do with a bit of sprucing.

My first room was in the old building and facing the main road. It was very disappointing, run down, cold and no hot water. When I mentioned it to the lady in reception she couldn’t have been any kinder and moved me to another room in the new block straight away. The new room was lovely and what I had expected, bed was huge and very comfy, room was lovely and quiet, the shower was decent and hot. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. Loads of onsite parking available.

The first room they gave me was old and depressing. It needed updating, cleaning and hot water needs to be fixed.
