this place is very special, it's elevated from the village with a lovely view down. The kitchen and dining room are clean and well stocked. I booked a bed in a 6 bed share room.and only had 1 other person with me and alone the 2nd night, which was great. sink in room, and shower( great) and loo across the small corridor. The staff were friendly and efficient and the full English breakfast was great before a days walk.

the rather vocal Cockerell was a tad annoying but hey this is the countryside doing its thing... parking limited but can park.on street easily enough around corner.

I only stayed for one night, but the hostel made a great impression on me - staff were very kind and helpful, I was allowed to store my belongings at the reception before the check-in. Notably, the hostel is very clean and quiet. Showers and toilets are comfortable to use. My bed was rather pleasant and allowed me for a good night sleep. Each bed had two outlets and a small light next to it. There was also a cabinet for each person in the room (you have to bring your own locker). For the breakfast I chose the continental option (pastry, cereal ect.) and was satisfied. There is also a communal kitchen and a TV room available for the residents. Obviously, the location is great :) Overall, I had a great experience and would definetly stay again!

I was attracted to this place simply because the price, £20per night for a bed. its located right in the centre of the village, next to a couple of pubs, which is good. The place is well maintained and clean. Staff were great. Breakfast was better than I expected and although it £10, its worth the money.

OK, you have to share a room with strangers, not ideal, but for £20PPN its a good option particularly for solo travelers. Walls are a bit thin, and sound travels, particularity from a groups of friends in other rooms who stay up late/get up early.

For the money it was a great place to stay. It's a hostel so dont expect luxury. But it was clean, beds were comfy, the kitchen was well equipped, and the staff were helpful. They sold a lot of things in the shop as well, and rented towels which was helpful. There was also a bike shed which was helpful. Its a quiet area great for walking and cycling. A little bit off the Way of the Roses route if you're cycling, but not too bad,

The village itself has little conveniences. There are a couple of pubs, one of them does good food and cheeses.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean with wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. Excellent clean and easy to use self catering facilities in a nice bright kitchen with eating area. Large and comprehensive breakfast in the morning with lots of choice which I really appreciated as a vegetarian.

It has self catering facilities which were excellent because my son suffers from low blood sugars and has small snacks often. I easily used the facilities provided without waiting around. Thank you

The rooms could have been slightly bigger especially when you have kids with you but overall it was good

The staff were very friendly. Especially Luke who stayed late after his shift to give us hiking advice. They offered breakfast and a great cup of coffee. The rooms were very large and comfortable for two people. The facilities were clean. We appreciated the drying room after a wet day of hiking. Would definitely come back.

WiFi wasn’t the best but did the job.

Friendly and informative welcome. Warm, very clean. Comfortable lounge and bar drinks. Great cooked breakfast, tasty sausages. Drying room really did dry our shoes and the excellent and thoughtful addition of newspaper to stuff in our shoes.. We'll stocked, easy to use self catering kitchen. Excellent location for walking the Peninne way.

Never stayed at YHA before and pleasantly surprised. It was very clean, even the shared facilities. Nice cooked breakfast in the morning and free parking. I've stayed in some expensive hotels that weren't this good.

There could be better lighting outside. The approach road was very dark and had to use the torch on my phone.
