Breakfast was superb, room was well heated and clean (altough a little tired) Staff were very friendly and hard working as part of a small team. Location is excellent in the centre of Grassington. No noise from road or bar at night. Parking can be an issue, but i parked in the Town Hall car park with a £3 per day voluntary donation ( a short walk away) Close to, and the centre of lots of walks and bike rides etc. If you can get passed the first impressions of the notorious stair carpet, you will have a very enjoyable stay. I believe the hotel is up for sale and a takeover is in motion. Five great real ales on the bar, and lovely evening meals. A very enjoyable stay. Well done to the current owners and staff, good luck for the future.
Could do with a make over, redecoration, carpets etc, but does have a certain olde world charm with coal fire etc

Location ideal - easy access to all the beauty & uniqueness of Grassington. Authentic old English pub with several rooms above it. * Clean, cozy room, wardrobe for hanging, tea/coffee service in-room - included hot choc. & biscuits. *Large bathroom includes shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, lotion, combo tub/shower & good thirsty towels. *Breakfast included each morning - & I mean a FULL breakfast option if desired. *The staff are the #1 asset. Everyone - EVERYONE - was friendly, exceptionably helpful, offered info about the area, cheerful & fun. Made our stay over-the-top. Even allowed us to hold our luggage there after check-out, for our convenience while we explored a bit more of the community without hauling our luggage around. *Evening meals were delicious!!! & portions very large. Again, wait-staff, bartender all super friendly & accommodating. Great with our young grandchildren, too.
So, this is a minor deal, cuz I said it's an authentic old English pub. Hauling luggage up the narrow & shallow stairs, & the small step from the pub into the dining room - the stairs were a bit of a challenge. BUT, had they been modified, it wouldn't have retained some of that old English pub feel. Just beware & step carefully.

Greeted with the warmest welcome , we were sooo happy we went ahead and booked this hotel. It was such good value for money. The building is old and this adds to its charm. The staff couldn't do enough for us and happily provided a jug of alternative milk for me as I am dairy intolerant. The room was basic but clean and had everything we needed. We chose to eat in the pub that evening and we were not disappointed, delicious and great value again. The breakfast was particularly amazing. It just proves not to believe the bad reviews and try it for yourself. We will definitely return if in the area again.
Yes it could do with a refurbishment but this did not effect our stay.

Lovely little room on the top floor, small bit with everything I needed. Comfort bed, clean and modern decor and views of village roofs. A little haven above a very lively bar. The bar itself isn't particularly salubrious but is a popular drinking hole and serves very good food with a huge menu and specials. There were about 6 vegan options too, so I was spoilt for choice, and the staff were very switched-on, helpful and efficient. There are lots of bench tables outside for good weather and it's bang on the centre of the village with a very sociable atmosphere. Despite that there was complete silence in my room after about 10pm (kitchen closing) until 8am which was perfect for my needs.
It's an old building which gives it a traditional slightly quirky atmosphere (good thing) but some of the decor is looking a bit worse for wear - corridor and stair carpets are very sticky (as I discovered in bare feet). I can see it would be expensive to overhaul and prices would need to go up, so it's not a big complaint. My room was perfectly clean and fresh.

Good, Yorkshire hospitality. The staff were lovely and welcoming, as we're the locals who used the bar. Breakfasts were made to order and nothing was a problem for them. The building is quite old and very quirky. There's a dumb waiter in the corner of the dining, a practical solution, but it also adds to the character of the place.
The building is old and in need of a refurbishment. However, it would need to be done sympathetically to prevent damaging it's character and charm.

Really friendly greeting by the relatively new manager, the room was great and the food excellent, served via the unique, mechanical, 'dumb waiter'. Wonderful, authentic downstairs pub atmosphere, with a good range of traditional beers and friendly locals.
Perhaps an improvement in the staircase carpeting could be considered, but for good, old-fashioned Yorkshire atmosphere in idyllic surroundings, this place cannot be beaten.

The Foresters provides excellent value for money in the centre of Grassington. The room was clean and functional. The meals were particularly good. Excellent cooked breakfast and a wide range of evening meals. The staff were very attentive and helpful. I was warned beforehand that there would be live music in the bar on the Saturday night which was good of them. Car parking can be a bit hit or miss in the centre of the village depending on whether you can find a space somewhere.
It's easy to criticise but as a constructive comment the stair carpet up to the rooms really could do with replacing as it's bordering on dirty and doesn't give a great initial impression to guests.

Absolutely lovely hosts. So friendly and welcoming, and really lovely people. A proper good Dales pub with rooms. Staff couldn't do more to help and we were really impressed with how dog friendly they are - genuinely happy to see our little Chihuahua, Fred - and with no extra charges (which is a rarity nowadays). Breakfast was lovely - quality ingredients, well cooked, and served quickly by the friendly staff. We'll be back.
Carpet on stairs very tired and could do with replacing or deep cleaning. Room, however, was spotless!

I started off my stay with a lovely meal at the restaurant downstairs - I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegan options and thoroughly enjoyed the nut roast. I appreciated having a bathtub, having hiked to Grassington, and the bed was lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was also great. The staff were lovely the whole time.
Nothing to complain about! I had a great stay :)

The stay was very fairly priced. The staff were incredibly accommodating and made us a packed lunch as we were getting up and leaving before breakfast on one night. The packed lunch was lovely and they still let us have cereal. They warned us that music was on so we brought ear plugs. We were very tired so went to bed but the blues music band was also brilliant. The bed was also very comfortable. The pub was very traditional and in a great location. Grassington was a lovely place.
The room wasn't the cleanest and there was paint flaking in the bathroom. There also wasn't any parking.
