Breakfast was excellent especially for the price. Fruit, yogurt, choice of cereals, cheeses and meats, boiled egg, toast, pastries tea or coffee and orange juice. I found my stay very relaxed. Room and front door key meant I could come and go when I wanted. I stayed five nights. TV in my room. Also a kettle and tea and coffee provided. A chair and wardrobe with hangers too. Location was great. Number 1 bus from the station to about a ten minute walk away or possible to change buses in the town to a number 2 which stopped right outside. I came by train but there was parking available. I chose to stay in a single room without an en-suite (cheaper) and the facilities were close by and only shared by a couple of other people.

It was like a proper B&B from last century. Homely, friendly and sociable. The owner personally met me to give me the key and show me around. The place was clean, functional and chintz-free. I could control the radiator in my room and could open the window fully. Good low-carb breakfast options too.

Not the fault of the B&B of course, but the area is quite trafficky, so I would recommend bringing earplugs if you are sensitive to noise.

The host is very polite and friendly, the rooms are cosy, comfortable, and clean. The rooms are quiet and there is a garden with birds. The breakfast was convenient, quality okay for the price. The apartment is easy to reach from the city center. It is nice to walk cross the nearby river and the park to St. Johns Colledge. I highly recommend the Carlton Lodge.

Payment could have been easier, my card didn't work with the check machine (I check my bank account before) – so I had to transfer from euro to pound and there were taxes.

The extremely friendly and funny landlord takes great care to provide all the comforts during your stay. The ideal location means you can get everywhere on foot, but on the other hand, you still feel like you're living outside the hustle and bustle that characterizes the city center.

Everything was ok.

The hosts were brilliant as was the location..the room was comfortable. Warm and clean ..breakfast was continental .Cereal. yogurt. Meat .cheese and eggs ..served with tea or coffee.. juice and toast..parking is available at the premises..

Sign on front of premises just states the number of the house (even though it is large) we were looking for a board saying Carlton Lodge..

Breakfast was good and sufficient. The place was very quiet and peaceful. The atmosphere very relaxed, homey and comfortable. Interesting conversations with the host and other guests at breakfast time.

Basically clean and fresh but a little bit run down. A few more hooks to hang clothes and wet towels would have been welcome. The bathroom extremely small but we got used to it after the first shower.

The location is ideal, only a short walk to the city centre but in an area that is relatively quiet and peaceful. The best part was Ciaran's service as host, as well as the lovely breakfast in the morning. He also provided tea and coffee in the room.

The shared bathroom is a bit small, but I was able to have a shower without any issues and there was also a sink in my room for brushing my teeth. The room is fairly simple, but great value for the price.

Pleasure to meet Ciaran and chat to him and his wife. Excellent location, especially for a 10min drive to Addenbrookes Hospital, which is why I was in Cambridge. Off road Parking good right outside. Excellent value compared to ridiculous prices elsewhere. No negatives to report whatsoever. I'll be back as I need surgery! Thanks!

Nothing not to like

Great breakfast. Good shower. Clean in all areas. The bedroom was very warm but thankfully there were openable windows in the bedroom and the ensuite. We managed to get one of the property's 3-4 off-road parking spots. Would stay again.

Slightly noisy floorboards above our room would be our only complaint.

Excellent breakfast, Room was nice, excellent location, and the host was great!.

The bathroom, while usable, was the smallest I've ever seen (even smaller than a cruise ship bathroom). Also, very small TV, very high up, so difficult to read anything on the screen.
