Rooms were comfortable. Staff helpful. Breakfasts individual and tasty. Bar area comfortable and quirky.

Lighting in bedroom, couldn't see to read or apply makeup. Wardrobe area almost pitch black. Very noisy air conditioning and controls didn't seem to actually work. Hospitality tray not replenished over 3 days. A bit too much Do-it-yourself in the breakfast room. One usually expects tea/coffee and toast to be served (especially at these prices) No guide in the bedrooms to convert extremely odd names of rooms(all to do with wine or vineyards) into room numbers. Also no obvious floor plans for the same reason.

The reception staff were amazing. In particular a wonderful lady called Habibi. She was amazing. She really made our stay, so much so that my extremely shy son drew her a picture and gave her a cuddle. She was kind, patient and excellent with him. She really should be commended. I will be writing directly to the hotel to give my feedback.

The food in the Bistro wasn't great. My steak and chips were so salty that I could not eat it. The restaurant gave me 10% off the bill to make up for it, but I would personally have preferred my money back given I didn't eat more than a few bites of the steak and a chip and told them at the earliest opportunity.

My recent stay at Hotel du Vin Cambridge was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the level of service and attention to detail was evident. Kalpana, in particular, stood out for her warmth and professionalism—she made the check-in process remarkably smooth and welcoming. Her genuinely kind demeanour created a positive first impression that set the tone for the entire stay. The room itself was immaculate, tastefully decorated, and exuded a refined cultural charm that complemented both the hotel’s French bistro restaurant and the timeless character of Cambridge. It was clear that thoughtful design and guest comfort were top priorities. Another highlight was the staff restaurant, which exceeded expectations. It was not just the quality of the food that impressed me, but also the evident passion and dedication of the entire team. You can truly sense that everyone involved in the operation of this hotel takes pride in their work. This combination of hospitality, style, and genuine care made my visit truly memorable. Without question, Hotel du Vin will be my first choice whenever I return to Cambridge.

The welcome from a delightful young woman on reception set the tone. She whisked my case upstairs and was so helpful. The very fair price of the upgrade gave us a spacious and very comfortable room. I have travelled a great deal and was happy to find the room so well laid out. The staff throughout our stay were all so pleasant.

The inability to open the windows - even a small amount - needs to be reversed. The tea tray needs a longer cable on the kettle, and it can't be extracted from the cupboard without moving the bedside cabinet. For safety's sake, one shouldn't have to guess which way is 'HOT' on the shower - coloured arrow or similar needs to be put on it. The £27 per head price of breakfast is just a silly price for residents! We went for a full brunch at Brown's for so much less!

Lovely room, with plenty of space. Very comfortable bed. I did opt for an upgrade when we got to the hotel for a small additional cost, well worth it. Comfortable bar area.

I knew there was no parking at the hotel and checked the hotel website for nearby (or recommended) parking. The website directed us to 2 car park options nearby and we parked in the nearest (the Grand Arcade car park). We arrived early for check in so parked and had a wander through Cambridge. When we did check in later, the reception told us about a separate (nearer) car park where they had a discounted rate. By this time, we had already parked so did not move the car. The Grand Arcade car park is hugely expensive!!!! It would have been really helpful to know about the nearer car park with the discounted rate BEFORE we arrived.

I travel for a living, staying in quality hotels, and the Hotel du Vin impressed. The rooms are larger than usual. Beautifully furnished, v comfy beds and bedding. Rain showers and baths, lots of fluffy towels, windows can be opened and heating controlled in room. The multiple lounges / snugs and cellar bar were perfect for quiet reading and group get together. The stand alone Bistro was excellent, from decor, seating, lighting, menu options and service. The quality of the cooking was faultless and the presentation delightful. But what really impressed me was the staff. From Maintenance to Managment they were highly trained, charming, preempted our needs and could not have done more. From my vaste experience of top hotels this team are the best of the best and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and restaurant.

Got upgraded to a suite for free and was blown away! Private courtyard, sofas, bath TV, even an old well in my room covered with glass so you could see down it! Also enjoyed being able to stream netflix etc to my tv. Room service was great value and absolutely delicious.

Only tiny complaint is scaffolding up in the private courtyard, which took some of the aesthetics away, but that's a temporary issue! The locks on the door were very stiff and when I gave it a budge to open the doors to the courtyard a load of sawdust rained down on my head.

Lovely boutique hotel close to the centre of Cambridge. I am very fond of this place, which I have visited frequently during the last ten years. The reception staff are unfailingly wonderful and the rooms are comfortable, albeit on some occasions small for this quality of hotel. Subject to my comments below, breakfast is good. I have never stayed for dinner.

Breakfast is patchy. Having only one coffee machine for the numbers who attend breakfast seems unduly parsimonious for this quality of hotel. And breakfast eggs are a weakness. About one in two of my poached eggs unfailingly comes hard - even an inexpensive bed and breakfast should be able to do better than that.

I stay here quite often because it has charm, comfort and a good position in mid-city. Last time I was upgraded, which was perfect and something to talk about, but this time, though smaller, I was just as comfortable and very peaceful, despite the hotel being on a fairly busy road. The staff are always welcoming and helpful, the food, when I can't resist it, is very good.

For someone who only wants tea/coffee and a single croissant for breakfast, the cost of that is quite high and local cafés cheaper.
