The staff in this hotel was very friendly. Unfortunately the elevator was broken the day we checked in. The elevator was still broken when we checked out... The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom is okay but a little on the smaller side. Breakfast was okay, you can order additional warm dishes (eggs) if you like. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the city center. There is a lot of parking space (around 40 cars?) but if you are late, all the spots are taken.

The staircase could use some cleaning. I saw some spider webs. Probably because it is not used a lot but since the elevator was broken we had to use the stairs.

Very good location, near to main attractions of the city. Very near to the Botanical Gardens and the Polar museum. On site parking which is quite rare in Cambridge, although you are charged £28 per day. Staff were nice and friendly, clean room. The hotel offers free tours in one of 3 beautiful vintage Bentley's. You can also borrow a bicycle for free from the hotel which was very useful. We didn't but our daughter did. This is a nice touch. Good and plentiful breakfast, with lots of options. Nice gardens to the side of the hotel. Lovely looking bar and restaurant, although we didn't try them out.

The bed was fairly comfortable if you were on your own. But not great if you were sharing as it wobbled if the person turned over. Also the pillows were a bit lumpy.

One of our most enjoyable hotel stays ever. The Gonville knows how to do hospitality. From the always attentive front desk staff, to the busy but utmost professional bar staff, to the impeccably maintained grounds, to offering world class live jazz (weekends) at their bar. (If you dare you can dance too). The back garden is especially enjoyable. We loved it all. The cherry on top is Zane‘s tour with the Bentley. Unforgettable. The front staff arranged for a private Punting Tour for us, which got us fair pricing and less stress in finding the right deal. The Gonville is an oasis in a very busy and bustling Cambridge. Great location and a forever memory. Thanks to everyone involved.

The (basic) rooms are nice and clean and have all you need, but could upgrade to make them more special, like a privacy green fence to shield from views from the parking lot, so you can actually open your window screen and get light. But we didn’t use the room a lot.

The provision of bicycles was lovely. The location was excellent. The property was lovely. The check in was wonderful and the staff at reception were excellent. The overall experience of the hotel was very positive.

We came back to the hotel on Monday night at about 20:00. There were no staff in the bar. I had to clear a table and then go and order. The bartender was somewhat disengaged. I asked if we could order from the bar menu and was told no. The bar then closed without anyone having the courtesy to let us know. I then asked the gentleman at reception to assist. He did so graciously although by then the bar was firmly closed. What I find curious is that there is a full room service menu. So would it have been too much trouble to have assisted us in the bar area? Also, is it usual for a bar to close so early? Was it because it was Monday night?

Very helpful staff, and food was very good. Especially as l am diagnosed coeliac, and their risotto was great. They were clearly very careful and l had no exposure to gluten at all over 5 days of my stay.

The ladies loos by the lobby, although beautifully decorated, were very hot and stuffy. Could do with air-conditioning in there! The upholstery on the living room furniture was a bit worn, especially on the chair arms.

A wonderful place to stay in Cambridge! Spacious room, super professional and friendly staff who were quick to fix any issues, coffee machine and cookies etc. in the room, complimentary drink in the bar, bikes and even a Bentley tour! Also a very nice garden, restaurant and bar.

The bathroom could use an upgrade, including a hand held showerhead and a new toilet and sink. We recommend not using water in the iron, since it left white spots from the tap water on our clothes when we used it, and the iron board was quite wobbly. For the rest, no complaints.

Location of hotel was excellent but hard to find with Google directions to the carpark- kept taking us to back of hotel. Room was spacious and bed very comfortable. Toiletries and tea/coffee facilities good. Staff very polite and courteous and sorted any glitches promptly. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of variety but did take a long while to come out.

Bathroom was a little tatty and a bit of mould in sealant. TV didn't work properly- had to get onto a stool to turn on and off at back and channels didn't work properly. Booking.com made it difficult to check in as they had put my surname under my first name and vice versa. Also couldn't get shower to work in bathroom, had to have a bath instead which is fine but not good for quickness or environment.

Lovely big room, nice and quiet with comfortable bed. Hotel is in a great location for all Cambridge has to offfer

Breakfast still hadn't arrived after 45 minutes waiting. After finally asking what happened, was told that the ticket didn't print in the kitchen as the machine had run out of paper. Finally received our breakfast after 1 hour. The waiting staff weren't busy and should have realised something was wrong, as most tables received breakfast, whilst us and two other tables had nothing despite being there much longer. One the plus side when I raised this issue with reception they kindly offered to deduct the price of breakfast from our bill.

Enjoyed the amenities in the room - tea pot, coffee maker, a bottle of water, biscuits. Even got washcloths this stay (I was refused them last time and it is a major improvement and greatly appreciated!) Also, couldn't ask for a better location in Cambridge!

There is a coffee machine in the breakfast room where diners make their own coffee by the cup. One slow machine is not enough when many people are having breakfast and eager to get out for the day. Perhaps better to use the machine for special coffee and have an urn of regular brewed coffee as well?

- Excellent location, really central to Cambridge city centre and the station. - Soundproof rooms -- even though we were on the ground floor and not far from the restaurant / common facilities, we couldn't hear any noise - Very modern and clean decor - Comfortable and very large bed - Great flatscreen TV with netflix too - Friendly staff who were nice and polite - They allowed us to store luggage

- Air con was very noisy in the room and made dripping sounds at night. We couldn't turn it off as it was very stuffy in the room and we were on the ground floor with a door so couldn't open it for air for security reasons - Expensive parking -- we got the train but were surprised about the price. Why not consider making it a fairer price for those who book in advance ? - Expensive breakfast options -- we didn't go for this as it was £14 for the buffet and £19 for buffet and menu pp, and it didn't appeal to us price wise. - Hairs found on the bed so points down for cleanliness - Lack of mini fridge in the room as it would have been nice for us to store our own water and soft drinks - No off switch for the main bedroom lights by the bed, so we had to get up to switch off
