On check in, the team were helpful, knowledgeable, and very friendly. Tom, the night porter was superb and had wonderful stories to tell. The breakfast in the morning was generous and perfectly cooked, and the room was exactly what we needed for our stay. We booked a room with a 'Landmark View' and I still can't believe the view from our window - truly mind blowing! We loved all of it and have so far recommended the Hotel to everyone we know.

My only criticism was that the mattress and pillows were quite firm - though this is personal preference! Otherwise, a completely perfect stay.

The Lodge is positioned in the grounds of the Cathedral, which is perfect for looking around the centre of Canterbury. Plus, you have free access to the Cathedral itself, Staff are welcoming and helpful and the rooms are excellent with a view of the Cathedral from your bedroom bay window. I would reccomend not missing out on the breakfast, which is cooked to order and the serving staff look after you very well. Overall, its a bit more pricey than the usual well known hotels, but, the overall experience is well worth the price.

Lodge is within the cathedral grounds meaning it occupies a wonderful and quiet location right in the heart of the city. Hotel was clean, modern and comfortable with great staff and wonderful food.

Only downside is the entrance to car park is not easy to find. We ended up parking away from the hotel, finding it on foot and retrieving the car later after obtaining detailed directions from the staff. Do not rely on sat-nav, it doesn’t work.

Fantastic location with great view of cathedral and free entry. Comfortable room - great breakfast.

Shower cubicle was a very small space. A larger person may have struggled.

We liked the selections at breakfast- the choices of continental and hot meal. The location was excellent. Staying on the historic grounds of the Christ Church Cathedral at Canterbury allowed opportunities to explore the buildings and gardens each day of our stay.

Incredible location and value. The inclusion of Cathedral entry fee at £18 each and a delicious, generous breakfast for two means this accommodation is hard to match.

The breakfast was included, and had a good choice, and was plated not help yourself. Which actually meant good portion sizes, less waste and no over indulging. Coffees were a little lacking in caffeine, would recommend the tea. Perfect location by the Cathedral and easy walking to the city with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The area is policed by Canterbury Cathedral Police, an actual Police body, reinstated in 2016. Rooms in the Hotel were very comfy, large double beds, wonderful hot, powerful shower and the rooms were tidied and replenished each day. The staff were professional and courteous at all times.

The confusion with parking. Ring up in plenty of time to reserve parking as otherwise parking very limited indeed. Very narrow roads and parking spaces so very large vehicles wouldn't be advised. The first night I was allocated a room in the building out the back in the Burgate Annexe. This wasn't what I had booked or wanted, and I complained to reception who said they could move us into the Hotel for the remaining three nights the next day. The Burgate room is dated, like a low budget Travelodge and noisy. There was no shower, just a shower head in the bath and due to sloping bathrrom roof, you had to sit in shower to wash hair. I had specifically wanted a shower, which this was not, and the bed would be classed as a single.

This was our second stay at the Cathedral Lodge and we were looking forward to staying again. As on our first visit, we really appreciated the lovely welcome on our arrival. The staff on reception were friendly and efficient. The lovely young lady explained everything that we needed to know, very clearly and was happy to chat. We were allocated a great size room which was located on the first floor. The room had everything we needed from the kettle, a selection of hot drinks, a fridge, ironing board, TV, hairdryer, a safe, plenty of hangers for our clothing and plenty of information. We had two armchairs and a coffee table, in the bay window, which overlooks the gardens and Cathedral. The bathroom was squeaky clean with large, well lit mirrors, plenty of white fluffy towels, along with lovely toiletries and plenty of lovely hot water. Staff at the Cathedral Lodge are very friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfast service was excellent and breakfast choices are good. We didn’t use the lounge area during this visit, but it is a lovely seating area where you can get coffee and snacks. We love the peacefulness of the grounds and gardens around the Cathedral, especially the rooftop garden at the hotel which over looks the magnificent Cathedral. It is lovely place to wander or to just sit a while to enjoy the peace, it really gives the hotel a sense of calm. If you are eating out while staying at the hotel, you can use a discount at several restaurants in Canterbury. You are also only a short walk from The Marlowe Theatre which is very handy, and the reason for our stay. If you are late back after a night out, you have to ring the bell, show your pass to security, who will then allow you back in. All in all we had another lovely stay at The Cathedral Lodge. We felt very safe and secure while staying at this lovely hotel in the centre of Canterbury and look forward to our next visit.

This is my 2nd visit and I love the special location over looking the Cathedral and being able to have access to the grounds when it is not open to the public. The dining room is one of my favourite hotel dining rooms, bright and airey, with the lovely white table cloths. The breakfasts are superb, huge choice and I like being able to book a time slot so that it is cooked to order. I again had a lower floor room which was comfortable with a wonderful view of the Cathedral. The staff are exceptional both in the dining room and reception. Friendly and willing to help and the access to bottled, filtered water is very welcome. I also love the dry gardens outside the hotel. Please do not change anything about the hotel, it is perfect as it is.

My headboard on the bed creaked every time I leant against it. Not a huge issue just a tad annoying!

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff left me a birthday card and we felt very welcomed. Lovely girls on desk. Popped them a little treat to enjoy with their coffee breaks. Nice comfy room and bed. Great little shower. Cost about £40 more than the room we usually stay in at a nearby hotel but was so cool gazing at the beautiful cathedral from our room. Had plenty to eat for breakfast un lovely surroundings. Only improvements we could suggest is nicer bread and fresher pastries as ours were a little stale. Nice helpful staff though and hardworking. We will come back again, maybe for longer next time x
