On check in, the team were helpful, knowledgeable, and very friendly. Tom, the night porter was superb and had wonderful stories to tell. The breakfast in the morning was generous and perfectly cooked, and the room was exactly what we needed for our stay. We booked a room with a 'Landmark View' and I still can't believe the view from our window - truly mind blowing! We loved all of it and have so far recommended the Hotel to everyone we know.
My only criticism was that the mattress and pillows were quite firm - though this is personal preference! Otherwise, a completely perfect stay.

An excellent hotel - exceeded expectations. Great location, peaceful, quiet, wonderful staff, fantastic breakfast and lovely to be able to stay in the cathedral grounds when the crowds had gone.

The Lodge is positioned in the grounds of the Cathedral, which is perfect for looking around the centre of Canterbury. Plus, you have free access to the Cathedral itself, Staff are welcoming and helpful and the rooms are excellent with a view of the Cathedral from your bedroom bay window. I would reccomend not missing out on the breakfast, which is cooked to order and the serving staff look after you very well. Overall, its a bit more pricey than the usual well known hotels, but, the overall experience is well worth the price.

Amazing and beautiful location. Parking was easy and straightforward following the instructions provided. Breakfast was outstanding - highly recommend the Benedict. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely be happy to stay here again. Fan in room was welcomed as had a super hot day.
Not the fault of the cathedral lodge at all, and wouldn't stop me staying again, but just after the most dramatic thunderstorm with torrential rain and thunder and lightening (which by the way is amazing to experience at the lodge, seeing the cathedral lit up by lightening was amazing!!!), there was someone playing the recorder outside from about 2am for an hour! It was the most eerie sound and the noise made it impossible to sleep. Not sure if it was a totally random one off, or if the recorder player is a frequent middle of the night musician! Lol but was pretty creeped out by it!

Fantastic location with great view of cathedral and free entry. Comfortable room - great breakfast.
Shower cubicle was a very small space. A larger person may have struggled.

If you love Canterbury and the Cathedral, this is the best hotel to stay at. I've been in many Canterbury hotels over the years but this one is exceptional. Amazing view of the Cathedral and a private garden to spend time in, hidden away from the tourist trail. Early morning walks around the Cathedral precincts, while the main gates are still closed, are a wonderful experience. I stayed in the annex, an old city building with historical flair. The breakfast is exceptional, freshly cooked with a great selection of locally sourced food. The staff are very friendly and made my stay a relaxing holiday. I will definitely come again.
The shower edges could do with some descaling. But apart from that all was great.

Lodge is within the cathedral grounds meaning it occupies a wonderful and quiet location right in the heart of the city. Hotel was clean, modern and comfortable with great staff and wonderful food.
Only downside is the entrance to car park is not easy to find. We ended up parking away from the hotel, finding it on foot and retrieving the car later after obtaining detailed directions from the staff. Do not rely on sat-nav, it doesn’t work.

We liked the selections at breakfast- the choices of continental and hot meal. The location was excellent. Staying on the historic grounds of the Christ Church Cathedral at Canterbury allowed opportunities to explore the buildings and gardens each day of our stay.

Incredible location and value. The inclusion of Cathedral entry fee at £18 each and a delicious, generous breakfast for two means this accommodation is hard to match.
