Excellent location - handy for Aviemore and Boat of Garten. Wildlife just outside the panoramic windows including a regular early evening visit from a red squirrel. Cute ducklings on the lochan, deer and hares in the local fields. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen, including a bonus air fryer!

Several other reviews have mentioned that some bits of the property/resort are starting to look rather tired. The faculties on site are not open in the evenings - didn’t bother us but if you were hoping for a sauna after a day on the hills or a pint in the bar, then you will need to look elsewhere.

Location was great - near to many attractions but still felt like you are away from all the busyness and noise.. The cosy cabin in the forest with the dining room table in an enclosed porch so that you can utilize it in all.weather was very nice. Also the fact that you could visit the other Macdonald resort/hotel/ etc was great. Overall great value for money!

The bedroom with double bed was really very small for 2 adults. It would also have been nice if the bedroom with 1 bed and mattress could have twin beds if 2 adults stay there. The matress will work fine for kids but not so comfy for an adult. But the rest of the facilities and layout of cabin was fine! Loved rhe kitchen layout and dining room table in enclosed porch. It was very nice to be in a self catering unit and very good value for money!

The location was incredibly peaceful, which is exactly what we wanted. The staff is friendly, helpful and ready to go above and beyond any expected standard of service. They offered to give us (car-free folks) rides to wherever we needed and provided us with maps of all the local hikes. The pool and gym facility were convenient and perfectly adequate for our needs. Everything was clean and tidy in the cabin and the surrounding grounds. The layout of our cabin was excellent. The shower in the cabin was great and the toilet flushed well. Cartridge is a fabulous town.

The kitchen lacked some essential utensils, like a pancake flipper and rubber spatula. The knives were dull, which made food prep difficult. Otherwise, the kitchen was fine. The main bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. I did not sleep well, but our trip was so restful otherwise that was not a problem.

It was so peaceful, lots of space to walk and the wildlife. The swimming pool and Sauna was a blessing. The kids played table tennis in the games room. The staff were really helpful and lent me a game to play over Christmas! The lodge was cosy for 5 of us and a German Shep (2adults, 1child, 2teens) not sure where a 6th would have sat but it was a lovely cozy Christmas which is what we wanted. The Tv is freeview, which took a bit of getting used to but we enjoyed not having Netflix.

Not that I didn’t like it but beware it can be cold when you first go in. We put the heating on but it took hours. We’d brought blankets so it just added to the atmosphere! The lodges are a bit closer together than I thought they’d be but they are staggered so it didn’t feel on top of each other.

Son loved the small cosy pool.

It was clean enough, but more attention to detail could make it more welcoming and it could maybe do with a freshen up with paint in some places. There was also a smell, my guess is it allowed pets (which we don't have). This was the main issue for us but we aired it and bought an air freshener. We would have liked and probably used the bar more if the lights and fire was on and people there. The fire would have been really nice for our festive stay. Maybe having some kind of entertainment or offer to encourage other guests to arrive at the same time. For the price it was fair

On arrival the cabin is lovely a little outdated and could definitely use a freshen up with paint and new furniture, and some better heaters , it wasn’t as clean as I would have hoped, cleaning staff need to pay more attention to small details like the bathroom window and bathroom fan both were dirty and the conservatory windows. however it didn’t affect our stay beds were comfortable And was lovely to sit and eat facing out into the woodlands very peaceful was just what we needed ( peace and quiet) it would have been nice for some solar powered lights on some of the trees to look out too at night though, our little boy 21 months was buzzing in the morning to see all the ducks at the conservatory door utterly amazing to watch

We liked our cabin , only a few things that need a tweak like decor , cleaning of windows and I really do hope yous look into solar lights as that would make it more magical at night . The games room is ok although not much in it and nothing suitable for younger kids ( toddlers ) which is a shame so perhaps having a little corner of toys and stuff for them would be great

Check-in was quick and easy. Pet-Friendly!!! The accommodation was clean and very comfy, and heating was really good and retained heat, so there was no need to have the heating on for long periods of time. The view was spectacular and felt so peaceful amongst all the trees. Very quiet area. The kitchen was well equipped and had all the necessary equipment to get you cooking. Well sized TV in the living room and even a smaller TV in the bedroom. The bathroom was clean and tidy too. We enjoyed the facilities and found the swimming pool very clean.

The main bedroom was a little bit on the tight side as the double bed just fitted, which dont leave you with a lot of room to walk around the bed. The mattress was a bit on the soft side and could do with a firmer mattress. Apart from this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We booked a last minute weekend away and had a lovely 2 bed lodge on the lake. Clean, well equipped, warm and comfortable. My children loved the ducks visiting daily. Although a wee bit further away from Aviemore than we thought, it didn’t dampen our stay. Lodge was really nice.

The hoovers do smell bad when using them, no doubt just down to the amount they are used but probably needing filters cleaned. The bathroom light was high up which my oldest couldn’t reach when needing the loo during the night, not a huge issue mind you.

Loved our stay here. Really peaceful location. Lodges are small but absolutely perfect for our needs. Lovely conservatory with table/chairs and a comfy seat looking out onto the woods. Patio doors in conservatory open too, be lovely on a summer evening. Bedroom was tiny but again fine for us, comfy bed too. Very well equipped kitchen with everything we needed. Strong WiFi signal. There's a lovely little lochan beside reception with lots of ducks, nice to stroll around. So many fantastic walks in this area Nothing to complain about. We will definitely return

Bird feeders outside the cabins were all empty. Next time we'll take some food to top them up. Lots of wildlife about.

A short break away with my hubby and our dog. Set in beautiful setting. Lovely small loch to walk round. It was so quiet and relaxing. Chalet had everything you needed for a short break. Restaurant not open yet for the season. The bar was available for drinks and we sat outside. Chalet was No 13. A few very small cleanliness issues but nothing that won’t stop us booking again soon.
