It was a lovely old fashioned pub, there was nothing fancy or over the top. I arrived and got my key and was taken to my room, we were asked if we wanted a meal or breakfast but the circumstances of our stay didn’t allow for either which was a shame, I saw some of the food and it looked delicious!!! The room was spotless and had everything we needed. I forgot a razor and there was one sitting on the shelf in the shower !!! I couldn’t believe it 😂😂😂 I couldn’t fault the place, we are planning to go back and stay longer and explore the area.

There was nothing to dislike, it was excellent.

The garden was beautiful. Good drink selection and huffers were excellent

The latest we could have breakfast was 9am. Which we felt was too early. The breakfast wasn’t that brilliant. The cereals were a bit tired. I had to ask for more toast to used the conserves on the table. My poached egg on toast was lovely but the one slice of thin white bread toast cut diagonally in two for both the egg and marmalade was inadequate. The cook was helpful but it was all about reactive rather than a proactive service. The tea was nice. The sausage was tasty.

We liked everything about the inn, it was an amazing spot on a cycle route and very friendly towards cyclists, the owner is keen cyclist himself. The room was excellent and the evening meal we had there was very good indeed. Fantastic service throughout from all the staff. Would recommend to anyone.

Nothing really, there wasn't anything I'd say needs improving, if I had to nitpick they could install covered bike shelter, but they were so gracious with letting us store our bikes in the room on a rainy night that I can hardly fault them for something we didn't need to use!

Stayed here the night before attending a wedding at Leez Priory. Great location , just 5 mins away. Lovely rustic Inn, with a log fire, Check - in was easy at the bar, and we were taken to our room, which was situated in an adjacent lodge type of building. It was quirkily decorated, which i loved , beautifully clean, with crisp clean bedding, white towels, and a modern shower room with some toiletries. Rooms also have a hairdryer, which was a relief as I had forgotten mine We had dinner, so make sure you book on check-in, as it's really busy. Menu had lots of choices, and the food was great. A good night's sleep. Breakfast the next morning was good too. All the staff were really friendly. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Just a couple of suggestions. The lighting in the room was a struggle. I think it would benefit from bigger side table lamps. There were only 2 small wall torch type reading lights, or the huge ceiling lights. Also, of having a kingsize bed for the 6ft2 men. But these didn't effect our stay.

What a lovely Pub. Very Nice staff, friendly locals, a busy vibe as people obviously used the pub for their evening meals and to socialise with friends after work. We had a comfortable twin room which is a purpose built annex next to the pub. the room had everything we needed, was warm, clean and comfortable. We got an uninterupted, comfortably nights sleep And a fabulous breakfast. The Chef at breakfast was such a nice man and made us fee really welcome. Good value for money.

I couldn't find how to turn off the fan in the bathroom. But that could have been me!

The rooms were lovely, very well decorated, and the bed really comfortable, I slept really well for both nights. Breakfast was very nice and cooked really well.

Attention to detail at breakfast, both mornings there was a lack of tea spoons, for tea and coffee and yogurts, on the 2nd morning no condiments or serviettes. One of the rooms my friends were in, they could smell sewerage from the bathroom. The staff weren't very welcoming, we didn't get a huge welcome, it was in the middle of a busy service, but we didn't feel particular welcomed by either the manager Steve or the other lady who attended to us. Although Steve did show us around to our rooms, maybe that's just his way and he's not particularly demonstrative.

The compasses is set in a quiet location. Our room was bright and clean, the bed was comfortable and the towels in the bathroom were white, soft and fluffy! Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, with a good choice and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the pub has a lovely friendly, welcoming feel and was busy, even on a Tuesday evening.

Room was great size and very comfortable. It was a warm room but I really liked the fan that they provided. Diiner was delicious with a wide range to chose from. Staff were very polite and friendly. Would recommend.

We decided not to have breakfast the next day when asked on check in but actually the next day we changed our mind. Perhaps could leave the kitchen open a little longer for those who can't make their mind up the night before.

Very clean and spacious. The lady in charge was wonderful. Only 4 minutes drive to Leez Priory. The cabins are quiet in beautifully maintained gardens. Nice touch to have comfortable smoking area under shelter. Breakfasts are good. Underfloor heating in bathroom made it super cozy.

Bed could have done with a thicker soft topper. Only a small suggestion.

Quiet - clean and tidy rooms. Love the location. Nice food in the pub

The five day headache from the bedroom window falling in and banging me on the head and the staff not taking my concerns for future guests seriously (apart from the lady -cleaner I think - who spoke to me just after it happened who was kind and apologetic)
