Staff are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The location is excellent: the views across to Wales and the sunsets spectacular; the "Wirral Way" walking / cycling / jogging paths are close by and clearly signposted. What used to be a fully-worked river (River Dee) is now a bird sanctuary. Nature is everywhere; visitors are welcomed warmly by locals. In addition to The Ship and its excellent restaurant, there are several pubs, bars within easy walking distance. Parkgate is rightly famous for its ice cream parlours and fish & chips (delicious ;o). I started staying at The Ship in Parkgate over ten years ago when I started making short visits to The Wirral to visit family. The quality and comfort of what the property offers have improveed consistently over this time. I will surely stay here again. (And again)

Lovely location overlooking Dee estuary. Room had a great view. Bed very comfortable although I prefer a lighter duvet. Window did open and heating was controllable. Lovely helpful staff and good parking facilities. Dinner was very good gastro style pub food. Everything looked homemade. We ate lunch and dinner. Breakfast was served at the table.

The walls to our room were a bit thin and the bathroom was small. I should have checked as my husband struggled with the shower in the bath. Could have been more choice for continental breakfast but there was a choice of cooked food.

Choice on the breakfast menu is excellent and the food is delicious. We also had fish and chips one evening which was very enjoyable. Room and en-suite was a good size and well equipped.

Generally the food menu provides an excellent variety but having been for at least 2 nights every month for the past few months we don't get the impression that the menu is changed very much. I would stress that this is a perception rather than having studied in depth during each stay. This resulted in us perhaps having one evening meal at the Ship Inn and going elsewhere for the other two evening meals.

The room was amazing and the breakfast service was well done with lots of variety and quality produce. The view was lovely and I would definitely stay there again. Staff were friendly

I only had one issue, on the day we were leaving water started leaking through to our room from the room above. The staff were very quick to get it to stop and got a bucket for the leak. But when we checked out, there was no mention of it or apology. I appreciate that it was the fault of the person in the room above (apparently they were overusing the shower). And we were less than an hour away from checking out. It would have been a much bigger issue if we were staying there for several nights. Just a 'so sorry for that' would have made a difference. On the whole, it didn't really take away from our experience.

Booked last minute as other accommodation was cancelled. The Reception were very friendly upon checking in and the room was much bigger than anticipated. Very clean and the facilities were first class. Breakfast was included in the price and the choice was excellent, in both the hot and cold offerings. We had a few drinks in the pub after we had returned from our dinner date with family and the clientele and bar staff were lovely and friendly. We got chatting to some lovely people. Checking out was a breeze. Will deffo book again next time we visit the Rellies!

Nothing it was a great stay

Lovely location. Excellent food in the pub restaurant and a good breakfast the next morning. Private parking and easy to find.

We changed rooms twice. The first one was nice and big but had a massive extractor unit literally in the next room and the vibration and noise from that was awful. The second room we were offered was better but still had noisy ducting running just outside the window. The third room was on the other side of the building and much quieter but it was pretty small, with no view and the bathroom was a bit cramped. I've stayed in nicer places for a lot less.

We had booked as was going to a party in Neston and this was the closet to it. When we arrived staff was very helpful even with it being a Sunday and was serving, even got us a taxi so could get back to Neston. When it was over we headed back and managed to get some food at the night time. We both had a steak and it was beautiful and staff again very helpful. The room was very comfortable, little warm during the night so had to open the heavy window a jar to let some air in. Bed very comfortable (twin). Room and bathroom very clean

We had breakfast the next morning, my partner enjoyed his, but i didnt like some and felt terrible leaving it. I dont like cumberland sausage and the bacon was so hard think would of broken my teeth, i understand some people like theres like that, but this looked like had been cooked and left on side and reheated, it just didnt look appertising at all and was hard, ever thing else was lovely. The staff again was excellent

We stayed in room 22 which overlooked the car park but was very quiet. Room was very clean and well equipped and en-suite shower room was excellent. We had tea making facilities in the room and the staff always agreed to provide us with some fresh semi-skimmed milk for our tea in the evening and first thing before breakfast. The breakfast was excellent with a wide range of branded cereals, fruit juices, marmalade, jams and honey plus yoghurts. We enjoyed freshly cooked breakfasts with sausage, bacon, baked beans, fried or poached eggs, mushrooms, hash browns plus toast and tea. The view from the restaurant out towards the Dee estuary was stunning and you could never get tired of it. We also had one evening meal at The Ship which was excellent and lunch when our two sons joined us which was also great. All in all a great place to stay and we will definitely be back.

I felt comfortable and relaxed here straight away. The pub and restaurant are so cosy and atmospheric, with lots of different sitting areas. I noticed all the lovely, good quality prints and pictures, a lot of them with maritime themes, on the walls. The woodwork everywhere is beautiful. The outside areas also look great for a good day, with fantastic views, but the weather was too rainy for sitting there during my stay. The food was really good. My room was spacious, comfy, cosy and clean. The place was a breath of fresh air and welcome relaxing respite, after staying a few days in a row in much less comfortable accommodation, and the price was reasonable, too. I would love to stay here again.

Just a minor room for improvement, in the bathroom: the shower head, tiles and edges had a bit of mold around them. Otherwise my room and bathroom were spotlessly clean.

The Ship is a lovely place to stay for us as it is looking out on to the salt marsh. Its very comfortable , clean and we experienced high standards of service from Staff. We have stayed at the Ship for the last 5 years and have always enjoyed it

Although the food my husband chose was very good mine wan't this time. Both dinner and my breakfast choice were more than over seasoned which totally spoilt the food. On previous stays at the Ship I have chosen the the guacamole on toast and it has been delicious .
