One of the most charming hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The hotel had lots of character and the bedrooms were gorgeous. The lady serving breakfast was really friendly and chatty, she would always happily get a bowl of porridge for our hungry baby before the official breakfast hours began.

We didn’t find the hotel very helpful when we needed a taxi booked, I was expecting them to book one for us but just gave us some numbers to try. I was also disappointed to be charged £15 per night for a travel cot when I hadn’t been pre advised of a cost (and I have never had to pay for a cot anywhere else). I emailed the hotel beforehand asking if one was available but no cost was mentioned.

Stunning country house architecturally . The rooms were individually furnished each one slightly different with deco. It is set within a large estate , I was told there is a 3 year plan to renovate the house further which will bring it back to its former glory . The existing house is stunning , quite a few locals pop in for drinks and afternoon teas which keeps the prices more fitting of “pub” prices rather than hotel which makes a stay in such a grand place feasible for a wider clientele. The evening meal portions were by todays standards large , too much for us but I was also told the scraps were utilised locally for animal feed so any food waste is minimal The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty - all local produce . What makes this place inviting is the atmosphere by the staff . They all appear to be happy to be there , they are attentive and personable but not over the top

A lovely welcome from Henry who also answered questions before our arrival. Beth was equally wonderful and so very helpful and great conversation. We treated ourselves to the Mellington Suite which we both loved. The Double Spa bath was brilliant and large enough to scuba dive in. Breakfast was excellent a was the bar meals which we chose (you won't go wrong with the loaded fries with steak and peppercorn sauce - a new dish for the family home) The property and estate were amazing, the hotel itself very stately yet very welcoming and warm. There were wonderful metal sculptures around the estate, loved the squirrel and woodpecker in the trees.

Nothing - everything was amazing and staff exceptional.

Lovely food and public areas were in keeping with the style of the property.

Our bedroom was classed as a luxury one. However, the decor was dated and jarred with the character. The bathroom was impractical. It was very dark, and my husband struggled to shave. The dated wallpaper and huge bath, which would have taken forever to fill, screamed out it was trying much too hard to feel anything but luxury. A pared back stying would have made the lovely room shine. Not the 80's decor!

A nice peaceful location, with the hotel set in very well kept beautiful grounds. Hotel manager and staff were all very pleasant and made you feel welcome. Interior of hotel was very much in keeping with the country estate vibe and had some great lounge areas for relaxing in. Meals were very good and reasonbly priced. Rooms were in keeping with the feel of the hotel, comfortable and had everything required. Breakfast was great, plenty of it and excellent quality (must be the locally sourced ingredients) Overal it was a great place to stay in a fabulous location. Highly recommended.

Excellent breakfast which was served to our table in the dining room by friendly and professional staff. We were made to feel very welcome. The hotel is in the countryside and is located down a long drive. It is popular with walkers as Offa's Dyke runs through the estate. We were there for a short break as we had a booking for the nearby Kerry Vale Winery. That comes highly recommended. A car is essential if you are not walking Offa's Dyke.

Beautiful stunning location, room was lovely, staff were friendly but professional nothing was too much trouble. Two members of staff stood out for us, the lady with long blonde hair think her name was bev and the lady who served us breakfast. Evening meal was fantastic and prices were reasonable, the bar was lovely to sit in atmosphere was great and drinks prices were not over priced. Would love to come back when the weather is better to experience the outside areas.

Our stay wasn't long enough :(

Room was nicely decorated and spacious. The breakfast was amazing and I think one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. I have some allergies which means I have to be careful what I eat, where I stay etc. The hotel was very helpful and accommodating with this and they even tailored the breakfast to my needs! They have a broad selection in general.

The Jacuzzi was really nice but did seem like it was due some maintenance as it was splashing water up the wall at times and making some noises. I did mention this when checking out and they said they would look into it.

The room was very comfortable and had some nice touches (dressing gown, slippers etc.). The staff were friendly and helpful and there were plenty of very comfortable armchairs in the rooms downstairs.

We booked a meal in the restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday but were directed to the bar area and told that because of understaffing only the bar menu was available. The staff were very apologetic and offered to provide what they could from the à la carte menu, but it was still disappointing.
