The buildings and grounds were lovely. Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed wandering in the grounds and all the facilities.

I think to charge extra for parking at a hotel which costs what this one does is not good. It is quite isolated so nearly all customers must arrive by car. Parking should be included in the price, even if you have to increase the price to cover it. Hidden extras are never good. I wanted a non alcoholic gin and tonic but this was not available. As a pub owner I know that this is now becoming mainstream - you should consider improving your range. The prominent notice at the front of the hotel stating no photos without permission of the management is both ridiculous and unworkable - it gives a bad impression. I and most other guest took photos. At the end of this review you ask me to add photos!!

Small bed in a big room. Would have liked a better bed.

The place itself was beautiful. ❤️Me and my husband booked a last minute 2 nights stay for our 12 years anniversary. We checked in with the lovely lady at reception. She upgraded our room for free. We wasn't expecting. The room was beautiful. The grounds was just lovely so much to do. The breakfast was so good.then the evening meal wow was off the charts. It wasn't as expensive as we thought it would be. When we got there we thought we would look and feel out of place.but it wasn't like that at all. Fantastic staff very welcoming. Definitely will be going again. We told our very large family and I also think they will be booking. There was a few families so children are welcome. Also we arrived to be told there was 2 weddings going on. We would never have known there was. 5*

What a surprise! We booked to attend an event in the park so I was really pleased that the acconodation ended up being so luxurious and contributed as much to my weekend as the event we had booked for. We enjoyed drinks in the bar and garden and breakfast in the conservatory. It was far more historic and glamorous than I expected and we will absolutely book again. I'd also stay with my Mum, she would love the history and architecture.

The room we booked was quite small but not an issue when booking for one night and the bathroom was lovely and spacious. Plus for the price I feel we got far more than anticipated. It was like staying in a National Trust property!

It’s so interesting lots of history loads to explore in and out of the hotel the grounds are well maintained and very beautiful excellent for walking and exploring and having a picnic etc. the hotel is full of artefact’s. And sculptures and antics. Lots of nooks and crannies. So much happening

Staff are so welcoming and helpful especially Leanne 🏅who found us a table so we could eat. While busy with other jobs she could see we were having trouble. But until we were seated, she never gave up also would give Orla🏅 in the Cloisters bar who served us outstanding service well done Girls.

The staff were all excellent and helpful to booking in and booking out. Dinner menu was good and varied. We were able to upgrade our room easily, and were given a room that met with our expectations. The surrounding park was good for walks. Prices of drinks and bar meals very good. Although you have to pay £10 a day for parking it is easy to do at reception.

The Hotel is very much an Event hotel with parties and weddings a feature, so very busy at weekends, the disco for the weddings go on until 1am and the garden bar area gets very busy. The pillows were very hard.Although there is a very good drinks machine at breakfast it would be nice to have table service for drinks.

What a fantastic hotel! Clean, comfortable and the grounds are stunning. The food is of an excellent quality and cooked well. We reserved a table in the restaurant for an evening meal and I didn't fancy anything on the main restaurant menu and asked if it was possible to select from the garden bar menu and this was not a problem and my meal was gorgeous. The bedroom was spacious, with a four poster bed, there was everything you could wish for, an iron and ironing board, fridge, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, 2 large chairs and foot stools with a coffee table and a floor standing fan. The bathroom was spacious, the shower was over the bath (a grab rail in the bath might be an idea due to the bath side being high). The room was located on the 2nd floor and the hotel has a lift.

The bedroom was dark even with the lights on. I think parking should be free, it was £10 for 24 hours.

Lovely Room , we bid for an extra and got a Special room which was . However due to it being a lovely day the heat in the Room was excessive . They did bring us an extra Pedestal Fan which sadly was ineffectual , the standard fan was better Other than the heat the Room and whole experience was absolutely fantastic . Gorgeous evening meal , very tasty and well served . The breakfast very good and plenty of choice . All the Staff were friendly , cheerful and helpful . We look forward to returning and following our lovely time there , with friends

Really just the temperature in the Room , I can understand that Air Con not allowed in such a dated . lovely Building . However surely a few of the portable Air Con units would be a good idea , The fan supplied needs checking as it was not giving off any cool air

The setting is beautiful.

The first room we went to was very, very dark. We soon got a move to a slightly nicer room. Still dark, but that is the ambience of the building. Check-in and check-out times could do with being a bit more flexible. It did feel very rushed having to be out by 10.30 am. We were a little late leaving and got a call to the room asking when we planned to leave. We were just walking out the door. Earlier, we had asked for more tea and coffee making facilities in the room. This took ages to arrive, which hadn't helped. All round a pleasant stay and would definitely go back. Breakfast was lovely, too.

The hotel looks fantastic with beautiful features. The bar was very nice and relaxing to enjoy evening dinks. The room was nice and well equipped. The position was great. The breakfast was superb. We would definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately, the shower was so hot that it would burn you and no matter what we did, the temperature would not change, so we couldn't have a shower in the morning. There wasn't a remote control for the TV and we had to call the reception when we arrived to ask for towels since there was only one set of towels in the room when there were 2 of us staying. The online bar menu didn't seem to be up to date so, we arranged to go to another place for our evening meal. When we returned to the hotel for evening drinks, we noticed the menu would have suited us and we would have been happy to eat in the hotel. We would definitely look to eat at the hotel next time we stay.
