Absolutely fantastic location as we came to see the Cathedral and attend a concert. Couldn't have been any closer. Had read reviews regarding the hotel and was quite concerned. When we first saw the hotel it doesn't actually look at its best from outside but that is a 'red herring' to what you find on the inside. Looks like it has recently been refurbished (or ongoing) - really lovely. Also, when I explained I'd booked through a third party website rather than direct and we'd only been able to get single rooms, we were asked if we would like doubles instead and that's what we got - amazing customer service.

Just one downside was the parking. I didn't mind that we had to park about nine minutes walk away (literally straight walk down the road) as we could park outside the hotel to unload. However, on the Britannia website it gives the name of its previous car park (now built on). I needed to park for three days so I contacted the hotel. Receptionist very helpful and gave me the name /details of nearest car park, but would be good if the website was updated with the correct information.

Hotel in a central location by bus station and city centre. Inside looked dated but reasonably clean. There is a central heating system which gave regular cracking noise. Room was clean. Breakfast full English style. Nothing special, seemed heated can style, but beans and mushrooms are like that most of the time anyway. Toasted bread nice, eggs, hash brown, bacon and sausage as well. Possibility of cereals, butter, jams, honey and marmalade. Fruit juices, coffee, tea. All in all warming and hearty breakfast appreciated. Not all plates were clean. Internet was slow and didn't work as well on mobile as on laptop. All in all reasonable accommodation for the location and last minute booking.

I liked everything. I thought being an old hotel, it was going to be too much stuffy and dirty and poor maintenance. But no, I was wrong. I decided to leave home and sleep outside. During my search, Britannia hotel came up for Coventry. Right when I made the booking at around 21:30, I got a reservation made. I booked, paid online and got my confirmation. I got there before checkin close time. Nice area, good security, good reception, neat and clean hotel room. I highly recommend. Oh and a very spacious place.

Well, there's nothing I didn't like. Everything was on point.

Very kind and helpful staff. My wife is disabled and they provided us with a spacious room with a separate walk-in shower room as well as the standard bathroom. They allowed us to keep the electric scooter close to reception, as it didn’t quite fit in the lift, and the room was close to the lift exit, so hardly any walking was necessary. The location was excellent for a shopping trip to Coventry city centre.

The view from the room was rather tatty (overlooking rubbish bins etc) and there was no nearby parking, although it wasn’t too far to a public car park.

I read some bad reviews after I booked so I was a bit worried, but I'm not fussy about hotels: a clean room and a TV would do for me. It was a pleasant surprise to find a clean, big double room, with good beds and a kettle with coffee and tea on the side. There was even a blow dryer in the room (not that we needed one, but it was there). Yes it's an old building with old rooms, but our experience was very good, everything was nice and clean. Sure the windows were not washed on the fifth floor where we stayed, but, let's face it: you don't go to Coventry for the beauty of the buildings (all there was to see were cranes), at least not yet, so this aspect didn't bother us at all. And the room price, for a hotel smack in the middle of the city...Fantastic! All in all, based on this particular experience, I would definitely recommend.

The only thing that I would change would be the quality of the toilet rolls and add a toilet brush. :)

HUGE SPACE and amazing quality for the given price. I don’t know what other people are talking about. It was better than expected and definitely better than other affordable places. Very very close to the city centre, major landmarks and public transport. Everything within walking distance, nothing more than 30mins, mostly 5-15mins tops. The TV actually works with more than the usual tv programmes in other places. A lot of different of lights. Room comes with a shower and a bath or is that a common thing in the UK? Travelling from overseas so I’m not really sure about the standard over here but, for the price, it’s definitely not bad. Missed out on the restaurant that is supposedly definitely worth a try especially with the view (apparently, I myself haven’t experienced it). ?24hr reception. Security onsite. Check out at 10am on weekdays and 11am on weekends. Good responses on this app but it’s a bit slow so just read reviews as you are already doing.

Wasn’t offered the breakfast buffet when checked in. Would’ve love to know beforehand before missing out especially with its good reviews online.

My husband was having difficulty finding parking places,also one way system was quite hard due to night times,and l have difficulty helping find the car park near we booked. It will be good to let people know if the hotel have parking places,if there isn't one,to put one nearest to the hotel so we don't go round and round looking for. Otherwise, we did enjoy Coventry. I hope I'm not too fuzzy moaning about it as we had quite a long journey and hiccups throughout the journey. Thank you for listening.

Large, airy and light bedroom with thick curtains to keep out the morning light. Excellent location, almost touching cathedral and opposite bus station. Near shops, pubs and restaurants. Close to Wetherpoons for breakfast.

Furniture a little basic. No easy chairs in room. Check in took ages, as. though there were two members of staff at reception only one was manning a computer terminal and the process itself seemed far more long-winded than at most other places I have stayed.

The hotel inside was WAY better than the dated concrete exterior. The room was spacious and had somewhere to sit to watch TV. The en-suite bathroom seemed to have a proper solid wall to minimise noise disturbance. The hot buffet breakfast had a lot of choice. The location was convenient for my elderly Mum as we were near the centre of the attractions.

Buffet breakfast items were not all overly warm - as is often the case. The communication emails were off-putting, immediately a list of negative rules and threats, e.g., no passport then you could be turned away; not one word of welcome or thankyou for making the booking with them.

Good location, the room was very generously sized, smelled fine and felt quite up to date. The staff were lovely. There was iron, ironing board and fan in the room, desk, table and chairs but still ample room. There is a security guard in the evening as well as having a double door system to prevent non-residents from entering. Nice also to have a bath whereas many budget hotels opt for shower only.

There was a group of people loitering outside which was unnerving. The room itself was in okay condition except the carpets which need a thorough clean (or replacement) and the security chain on the room door needed something to attach it so it didn’t feel as safe as it could be and could be rectified at relatively little cost.
