After booking, we read some of the reviews and we really didn't know what to expect when we arrived. We had booked 4 rooms. 2 x doubles, 1 triple and 1 quad. One of the doubles was really nice, newly updated bathroom and was clean. All the rooms had ensuite bathrooms/showers and plenty of room for everyone, so they are decent sized rooms. One of the rooms had an issue with the toilet and as soon as we reported it someone went to fix it. Customer service was very good both in person and by message on here. We were welcomed at the property. The reception is really nice and clean and it has a bar. The location was perfect for what we needed. Close to the centre and within driving distance of the football arena. There was plenty of free onsite parking, you just had to register the car registrations on check in. Checking in and checking out was very straightforward and quite an easy process.

From the outside it does look very run down, we got out of the cars and instantly thought of Faulty Towers ha ha. The triple room really badly smelt of smoke even with the window wide open and upon looking out the roof was full of tab ends so someone must have been recently been smoking in that room because as the weekend went on the smell went. The hallways could do with freshening up and the other rooms/bathrooms, but I do believe this is in the process of being done. The beds could have done with a second pillow to make them more comfy.

The staff were very good and helpful. Very well trained and pleasant. The room was clean and tidy and accepted. I booked a twin room for my friend and I, but we were giving each a single room, and that was very good as it's what I would have preferred rather than share. My friends room was to hot and we couldn't turn off the radiator but I informed the staff and they sorted it out. I will be using this hotel again. Well done to all the staff.

The bath/shower water in my bathroom was running all the time. I wasn't able to turn the taps off properly as the taps were so close to the wall I couldn't grip them to turn it off. I found on looking out my window that the catch to keep the window secure was broken, and on the window still, there was a cannabis grinder and roll ups which I expect another guest had left behind. I noticed that on my out down the corridor, someone had stuck a piece of chewing gum on the light switch. There are some discussing people about.

The hotel had an available room. Car parking was easy. Lighting controlled by switches beside bedhead. Good lighting. Socket beside bed table.

Long, difficult, walk to room. Hot water tap constantly trickling. Sound of trickling water was apparent all through the night. This was reported shortly after arrival. Bath, with shower over, was hot with scalding water puddling. Two tap system meant shower temperature was tricky. If touched the hot water tap gave scalding water. Bath mirror lighting system only came on momentarily, flashing on when button touched.

Room 25 on first floor was superb .Very clean looked to have been recently refurbished ,as there was a new sink in the bathroom still had manufacturers label on ,new kettle in bedroom and new mugs still had labels on them ,bed was very comfy ,soft and lovely clean bedding the carpet was very clean and thick too .There was a bath and an overhead shower ,the bath was huge really deep and long ,the water was lovely and hot too and it didn't take long for the bath to fill up . .Plenty of switches next to bed so you could switch lights off without getting out of bed at night or morning .Lots of usb charging points by bed too and there was a table on either side of the bed which were quite spacious for putting a lap top on ,or books ,a drink etc . There were black out curtains in the bedroom which worked very well but no net curtains so quite exposed to the building next door .The hotel inside was lovely and clean a few scuffs here and there but nothing serious . .Lovely marble flooring as you walked into hotel .Checking in was easy and quick and the guy on reception was very friendly and helpful . There is no breakfast served there but there are places to eat a short drive or walk away . There is a bar also in the pub that is open until late most nights and there is an adjoining restaurant that does meals at weekends and some evenings . There is free onsite parking too which is also spacious but you must be a guest at the hotel to use it for free .

We had no issues with our stay ,it was excellent value for money ,previous reviews had left us wondering what we would be walking into ,but it was alot lot better than we were expecting .There was a smell of smoke just as we walked up the first few steps to our room and we noticed it a few times ,but we wondered if it was from people smoking outside and it was blowing in through a vent there . If they are doing this hotel up then they are doing a good job not an easy task and not cheap to do either but the end result will be superb .

Mixed feelings about hotel. The area is very good, it is pet friendly, very close to the Coventry train station, the price is very good , the bed and towels were sparkling clean, parking was free of change. however the building itself is very old and moldy and smelly and some sketchy characters hang around. It felt like we got very good value for money, so I can recomend it to a less picky travellers.

The beds were very comfortable and the staff were constantly available to service the room at a time that suits. Endless tea and coffee in the room, exactly what I needed to start and finish each day! 24 hour desk was handy and the location, just around the corner from the rail station was perfect for me!

No restaurant, but no problem outside the hotel as Coventry knows how to eat in an evening!

I loved it there it was within walking distance from the train station the manager on reception was friendly my room was a good size and bright the bed was very comfortable there was a lovely ensuite I would recommend the Hylands Hotel.

I suppose it would have been nice to have a lift but the stairs were manageable.

I didn't eat anything there I bought myself a takeaway The bath is deep and I love that The bed is large and very comfortable In fact the room was one I'd stayed in before The manager is very polite and friendly

I can't think of anything I didn't like or thought could do with attention

The staff were amazing! In particular, Rami was excellent. Free parking & WiFi. Excellent large room , clean bedding, clean towels, and tea facilities. Decent size tv Security cameras everywhere felt very safe Had no issues with any other guests. the hotel is known for housing the homeless, which we found admiral. Everyone we came across was polite and didn't bother us at all. No noise at nighttime, had a lovely sleep. Very spacious room.

No hot water for bath

I booked this reluctantly as some of the reviews were terrible but I was pleasantly surprised, my room was dated but really clean. The staff were welcoming and I had no issues during my stay. The location is good and handy for city centre its only a few minutes walk away

The fixtures and fittings could of been improved but for a budget hotel everything was to an acceptable standard
