The breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere in the dining room was welcoming. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and we were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday so the complimentary bottle of bubbly and accompanying handwritten note, and welcome drinks were a lovely surprise. The grounds were beautiful and the position on the Thames, spectacular. The surrounding area was stunning. We only stayed one night but we wish we'd been able to stay longer. The weather was perfect and set the scene magnificently. The whole experience is one we will remember for many years to come.

This is the second time I have stayed at Monkey Island. It is a beautiful, peaceful location. It feels like luxury hospitality. Perhaps it's greatest quality is the staff - very well trained, kind and attentive to the needs of the customer. Rooms and facilities are beautifully designed, elegant and whilst the facilities are not huge in size they are very well done - a spa on a boat and a gym encapsulated in windows and light with beautiful views of nature.

Unfortunately, my room was near a huge extractor fan which can be heard in the room at regular intervals during the day and night, when it woke me a few times. Hotel took off 10% for one night. It would have been nice to get that at least for all the nights given they were all affected. Slight drainage smell in the bathroom.

Really friendly and welcoming staff that went above and beyond (with the exception of one in the house we were staying at who was quite standoffish). Extremely comfortable room in a gorgeous estate. Beautiful grounds. Lovely welcome from the person who checked us in and gave us a drink voucher for my partner’s birthday, to the comforting aroma of cinnamon everywhere. Didn’t want to leave. Would definitely go back again.

There was a strange smell in the restaurant, almost like there was a plumbing issue. It was quite offputting. Hopefully that has been fixed now. Also there was a bit of problem with communication. Seems their internal comms system wasn’t working so we had to WhatsApp front desk during our stay. Requested a late check out which we were told would not be a problem. This apparently wasn’t communicated to anyone and the next morning we had the anxiety-inducing experience of multiple people banging on our door to ask us to leave. (They did however apologise profusely for this later on)

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful hotel. Everything was immaculate and beautifully presented. The staff were helpful and efficient, the grounds were well maintained, the hotel building itself was completed to an incredibly high standard. The location is perfect, you always have the river in view, with ducks and geese visiting.

Overall it was amazing so i am only picking small points. i would have liked another mirror in the room, it was hard to get ready for dinner. The breakfast was nice, but i would have liked a better fruit selection

Island location was fantastic and just a short walk to Dorney to watch the rowing regatta was perfect for us! Staff were really accommodating and helpful - we asked the night before if we could get an early breakfast so we could walk to Dorney for the racing and they were only too happy to oblige. When we came down to breakfast everything was ready and the staff were just fantastic! We had been planning to go into Windsor for dinner in the evening but having seen the menu when we went to the restaurant to ask about the breakfast timing, we decided to stay and were very pleased we did - the food was wonderful and the riverside dining venue was great!

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful property on Christmas Eve. The arrival and check-in experience were great - the hotel offered a glass of vin chaud, which was a nice touch during the festive season. The property and its grounds are well taken care of. The team was incredibly friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and the food went above and beyond our expectations - great quality and excellent value for money. I highly recommend this hidden gem!

The hotel is located conveniently for The Fat Duck or The Waterside Inn (in case the inn itself is booked out). It is a walking distance however there is no pavement for most of the walk. The hotel staff can book a taxi if needed which is less than ten pounds (as of 2024). The property itself is really charming, located on the island inside the river Thames. The car park and the reception is on the solid land side and the rooms can be reached by walking over a picturesque bridge. The staff are extremely nice and weather permitting it is a really nice place to relax.

I think the property could do with a refurb but perhaps it adds to the charm... it didn't bother us because the gardens are immaculate and the surroundings very pleasant.

The staff were excellent and took the time to make sure everything was perfect. The room while small was comfortable . The views were just so relaxing . The choice of drinks in the mini fridge were a nice touch. Reception staff were on point , familiar with the area and very informative . Whilst we were only there for one night (visiting a local Restaurant,) the care and attention we received from arrival to departure was memorable. We will be back.

The birthday drink advertised as champagne should have been champagne or correctly advertised as Prosecco

A stunning location on an island in the Thames with beautiful lawns and historic buildings. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant. We also thoroughly enjoyed dining at the onsite brasserie. One evening we walked into Bray (20min) for a gourmet meal. To make your stay special I would recommend booking a room on the island rather than the entry-level barn rooms. Our room was luxurious and had a balcony with views overlooking the river.

The bed was far too soft for our liking. There is some noise from the nearby motorway.

Nice bedroom. Comfortable bed. We slept really well each night we were there. The setting of the hotel is lovely, and the staff are excellent. Breakfast choice was decent and ours was included in the price of the room. However, I was staggared at the cost for those who have to pay separately. £40 for a cooked breakfast is crazy at any level.

The bathrooms could have been cleaner. There is no excuse for black mould build up on silicone these days. There are mould removers that get rid of this kind of thing very easily, and if cleaned properly, it should never happen in the first place. Same applies to the limescale build up in areas of the bathroom. This can be easily kept on top of with the right cleaning equipment. The brand of tea the hotel uses is a very standard, cheap brand. There are much nicer, better quality brands, which I would expect hotels at this level to use. If you want a tip, have a look at Jing Tea ot Tea From The Manor. They tend to be used fairly widely at 5 star level.
