From the moment we arrived we were treated warmly and shown around by Ferdinand who was very pleasant and informative.Rowena was a lovely person very gentle speaking but very welcome and nothing was a bother to her she made us feel very welcome and was interested to hear how your day had gone. she is a credit to the lighthouse.the accommodation was very welcoming and clean in very nice surroundings.

There was nothing i didn't like but it would have been better if it had an onsite restaurant as the area is a bit remote and you needed a car to get around but this didn't detract from our experience at the lighthouse.

The grounds are amazing. The lake beautiful and I fished there 2 days. Plenty of fish but a lot of weed. The lake is run independently from The Lighthouse. The cafe was an added bonus although opening times change each day. Large comfy bed, powerful shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order placed the day before. The hotel manager Rowena was very hard working and helpful.

Now this is the difficult part!!! We loved the place, the grounds and lake and the pub within walking distance BUT AND IT IS A BIG BUT!!! The Lighthouse is the European head office of Universal Medicine (Google before booking). While this was not at all obvious during our stay, I personally think Booking.com should have notified us of this.

Lovely peaceful place. Beautiful lake that we enjoyed walking too. It was so quiet at night and the beds were very comfortable. Loved the little packages of shower gel, body cream and conditioner left for each person...how nice is that?? The breakfast was wonderful and nothing you asked for was ever a problem.The grandchildren loved the pancake machine! Loved playing cards and games with the grandchildren in the cosy room in the farmhouse. The grounds of the main house are stunning. Only a short drive away from Longleat where we spent a magical day. Also near Bath for a visit to the Roman Baths. The staff were very attentive and extremely friendly. Could easily have stayed for longer.

We liked everything. Had a couple of mosquitoes in our room that bit both my husband and I but being by a lake you expect that. We had a mosquitoe plug in that was in the room when we got there. As I say they literally think of everything here to make your stay a good one.

Very lovely property with gorgeous grounds and play area. Great location for Longleat. Polite and friendly staff. Nice little touches including fridge in room, nice little bag of toiletries in bathroom. Beautiful clean white sheets and towels. Really nice choice of breakfast and an awesome pancake machine.

The room we stayed in was very warm despite having a Dyson fan in there. And there was only a row of small windows at head height in our room which you could only see out of if you stood up and were over say 5ft 5inches tall. Not enough pictures on the walls for size of room. I wouldn’t call it a superior room like it was supposed to be. And just one more thing, there was a bunch of long hairs attached to the bath plug when we accidentally pushed on it and it came off. I wouldn’t let these negatives stop me from staying again but I would definitely try and get a different room.

The lighthouse is set in a amazing setting, the acres of grass, trees and lakes is beautiful to walk and we very lucky with the sunny weather. The hotel itself again is lovely, our family suite room was huge, spacious, well decorated and plentiful facilities, the bed was super comfy, just right. The host was friendly and approachable, very helpful. We were allowed to use the breakfast room to eat our takeaway which we got delivered, as well as using plates and cutlery as long as we washed and dried them up in the onsite little kitchenette again a lovely idea! Cannot recommend this hotel enough, want to find another reason to stay around frome!

Oh my gosh the beds! The comfort was exceptional. We stay in a lot of different places and The Lighthouse has the best beds we have slept in. The grounds are beautiful and provide the perfect backdrop for a morning walk. The complimentary tea/coffee and toiletries were fantastic! The thought into providing additional extras such as a gluten free toaster were inspired, you just don’t get that anywhere else!

The breakfast was really quite average, and the shower curtain is a bit mould stained - could do with chucking away and buying another, plus the grouting could do with a squirt of bleach and a quick scrub.

Very friendly host and gluten free breakfast was great and cooked fresh - no problem for host. You do need a car but the location is lovely and peaceful (pub about 5 minutes drive away for evening meal) Room very nice - big towels, good shower. Only here for 1 night but plenty of storage too. Nice grounds for a walk and patio for breakfast (although this is shared with non B&B guests after 10am) There is a kids playground opposite the patio.

Nothing really, although we had to say what time we wanted breakfast and the dining room was full - fortunately it was warm enough to eat outside.

I recently stayed at The Lighthouse and had a pleasant experience overall. The hotel’s location was perfect, close to Longleat which made it very convenient. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were welcoming and professional throughout my stay. My room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and modern amenities like free Wi-Fi, smart TV, Black-out blinds. One thing that stood out was the hotel’s breakfast spread, offering a variety of options ranging from fresh fruits, cereal, pancakes and hot meals.

However, the only thing I would have preferred is having the cutlery and napkins on the table at breakfast, so you wouldn’t have to keep getting up. Honestly, though, apart from that, everything was absolutely superb.

The building was beautiful and the room was perfect because the room was split in two, which was perfect for the teenagers with us, who didn’t have to sleep in the same room as us. We also had our dog with us and she loved the outdoor space as she could run freely. The breakfast was amazing and we will not forget the pancake making machine. The cooked breakfast was delicious and the continental was fantastic too. Rowena was very friendly and helpful. We found lots of good places to eat in Frome, which is only a 5 minute drive away. We also spent the day in Bath which is only 40 minutes away. Overall we had a wonderful stay.

Nothing - everything was great

A beautiful property set in the heart of a large estate, surrounded by lush greenery. The rooms were spacious and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The staff were exceptionally courteous and welcoming. There was even a dedicated play area that our kids absolutely loved, which made the stay even more enjoyable for the whole family. An added bonus was the on-site EV charger — very convenient, as we didn’t have to worry about finding a charging point overnight. It’s a shame we could only stay for one night. We’ll definitely be returning the next time we plan a trip to Longleat.
