The hotel has very recently been refurbished and to a very high standard. The room was fresh and aired with lovely towels and bedding. The restaurant is quite large as were the portions of food. All food was freshly prepared and cooked not just heated up in the microwave, and the prices were very reasonable. Car parking is on the opposite side of the road and there is ample.
The church is over the road and the bells ring hourly and half hourly which may affect light sleepers it is also the main road through the village so expect some traffic noise.

Great village location Beautiful rooms facing the church Beds very comfortable Lovely decor in bedrooms and throughout the pub Food was very good
Worth knowing ( for light sleepers) that you hear the church clock chime the hours through the night . Barman was pretty hopeless. We were told that last food orders was 7.30pm … very early ! Breakfast was late ( 8.30-10) and we were told the only slot we could have was 9.15am. We arrived at 8.30am and that seemed to be fine so I don’t understand the booking times system .

Absolutely perfect from start to finish. A lovely hotel, the staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the bathroom was well appointed. Quality bedding, you can really tell the difference. Food was excellent and plentiful. The pub part had a nice relaxing atmosphere, complete with a log burner. Ample car parking, it's a little out of Holmfirth but only £6 in a taxi. We will definitely be back next T.Rexmas!
No faults at all. The only advice I can give is to ignore the sat nav, head to Holmfirth and go right, it's about a mile and a half down the road. The sat nav took us off the Saddleworth road, down tracks that would make a goat nervous!

We had the best stay ever were made to feel warm and welcomed especially by the owner the 2 brothers and the blonde haired lady nothing was to much trouble even down to giving my partner a birthday card
Nothing we didn't like the only thing would be that on the Tuesday / wednesday ?evening we came down late not wanting a full meal just drinks and a pudding the lady that served us made us feel a little uncomfortable like it was to much trouble saying she had a big party coming to eat we didn't want to be a bother so we had what we'd ordered and left but we'd most definitely come back again a mini fridge in the room would be an added bonus

Nice location with on site parking. Beautiful room was spacious and quiet with en suite bathroom. Staff very pleasant. Cooked breakfast was tasty and in nice dining area. Easy check in and out.
Unfortunately there was no hot water when we chose to shower before breakfast. The owner was aware of the problem when informed and it had resolved when we returned to our room after breakfast. Emergency call number, when we tried to enquired about water, also did not work stating number not recognised. Owner was informed.

The Pickled Pheasant was very well furnished with high quality fixtures, it felt luxurious. The rustic 4 poster bed we had was a nice twist. The staff were very accommodating and the owner, Nicholas, was very helpful. We chose the location to attend a concert in Huddersfield and then have a morning walk in the hills around Holmbridge. The walking guide book was a nice touch. Breakfast was cooked to order and very good.
There was nothing really. I would have to look very hard to find a fault.

Everything was beautiful inside especially our room. We have stayed in some lovely rooms as we travel a lot and from the outside this doesn't look all that but once inside is a different story. We arrived earlier than our check in but Nicholas who greeted us said it wasn't a problem for us to go to our room as it was ready. He really couldn't do enough for us. Our room was beautiful it was quiet and comfy and worth every penny. I would definitely recommend and definitely return. A little gem of a place 🥰
Only downfall of being a vegetarian the only option was tai green curry which I don't like. I'm sure if I'd have said something they would have tried to accommodate me somehow. Made up for this by the gorgeous vegetarian breakfast though.

This was a quick break in a part of the country we were not familiar with; but the hotel and staff made it a trip to remember. The standard of accommodation was excellent, and I have no words that can adequately describe the quality and quantity of the food. Brilliant accommodation, with a supremely comfortable bed. Bathroom to a standard that excelled. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Would love to come back for another go at one of the pies. By the way, the full English breakfast will fill you for the day. Thanks Nicholas.
Nothing except the very idiosyncratic door handle on our room. If that's the only issue, why am I complaining?

Staff are very welcoming and helpful, and our room was lovely. Lots of local walks were detailed in a booklet left in the room, and The Pickled Pheasant is on a bus route between Huddersfield and Holme, so you can leave your car on their large car park if you don't want to drive. Breakfast had a lot of choice and we also enjoyed an evening meal there too. Would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting this area!
