Very spacious and quiet room which was very clean that I believe that it has been newly refurbished. Parking was free and plenty of spaces in the carpark, however slight concern staff did not take our number plates for registration. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Incredible price for the stay. There was a games room to hang around in.

Blankets were too warm for the season. I felt hot whilst sleeping. Breakfast was decent however does not match the same standard as the accommodation, portions were great and plenty of variety in the menu however lacked strong flavours .

Hotel was fairly simply decorated but was very clean . We added our 3yr old granddaughter to our booking the day before arrival, the staff were fabuand a small camp bed was added to our room at no charge. Fir breakfast the following morning we were joined by three additional family members and all had an excellent full English at a very reasonable cost . At all times the staff went out of their way to help us. Within 5 minute walk is a local pub with a great play garden for those travelling with children

The hotel could benefit from a few sofas for waiting / relaxing in the foyer but in fairness the team are still working hard at completing a big refurb

The reception staff, even though it was their first day was very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and a lovely big size. The bed was comfortable. I can't tell you about the breakfast as I did not have it.

The WiFi password was on display in reception but not in the room which meant that because I had not scanned the QR code in reception I was not able to use the free WiFi (I had already got ready for bed before I realised. So I was not going down to reception in my nightie😳). Also there were a couple of bulbs out in the bathroom but I'm sure if I had mentioned to reception they would have been changed.

The hotel has recently changed hands. The staff from reception, bar and breakfast staff was excellent. If they continue the way they are going I think they will be very successful. I wish them the best for the future and will definitely book again.

What I didn't like. On leaving staindrop we came across a gentleman stripping down to his y front underpants at reception. I made a joke that it was early for the male stripper as it was 10am. Memories are sometimes based on the final things. It will not deter us from booking with staindrop again as I believe they are very professional. I would just like to understand why they would let a gentleman strip down to his underwear as myself and my wife were leaving. We just can't think of a reason it was happening and allowed.

Staff were friendly, we had to call the night manager, as he was helping out on the bar (not an issue, good to be stuck in) didn't take long, showed us up to our room and it was stunning to be honest! Very much unexpected! For the price, wow! He also warned us that our room was very close to the pub part of the building, and it being NYE it would be a bit noisy. We didn't mind, we were there to go to a friend's for the celebrations, but appreciated the heads up. Bed was huge, unexpectedly soft, but that's not a bad thing. Bathroom was exceptional, huge and had everything. Even the fabled Bidet which no one uses. As I understand this place is under new management, and has had a hefty refurb so although in many ways it's unconventional,it's very much worth the money!

Nothing stands out as we didn't like, we had seen previous mixed reviews and were a little apprehensive.

The breakfasts were substantial and full of flavour. Easily the best hotel breakfast I've had this year. Great bacon and sausages. The room was spacious, with a large smart TV. The bathroon was very clean and modern. The staff were friendly and helpful. There has been major renovations done during the last two years and I think I landed lucky booking just as they were coming to completion. I ended up with a very good deal, getting great value for money.

Understaffed, at present. I would expect as the hotel gets busier, the staff will increase.

A very friendly greeting from the young lady behind the bar, who was so helpful. The hotel has been closed for two years and is now under new ownership and obviously getting the hotel back into order but providing a better quality prior to closing. The standard overall is certainly value for money.

A lovely large room. One of the main radiators had been removed although the plumbing and fittings were still in place. The temperature did drop through the night so the room got on the "cool side" but no issue as the bedding was nice and warm.

Friendly staff, great quality food at a bargain price. This place has only recently re-opened so still getting into the swing of things.. if I'm honest, they could probably do with a good housekeeper and more staff but I'm sure this will happen. What really annoys me, particularly people on TripAdvisor is they book into places like this for a bargain price (we paid £62) and then slaughter it for not being 5 star. We wish the new owners all the best. 👍

Very little.

Easy to find. Excellent location as a base if your touring the area. Locals benefit from plenty of space for celebrations along with ample free parking. Our room was large and very clean. The breakfast was ample and hot. Multiple choices of coffee to suit anyone.

Unfortunately there was no provision for an evening meal on the day we stayed however there was a pub The Barrel about 200m away serving food.

A curious place, almost deserted when I stayed. The Smart TV in the room was great, though it's one of those ones without an aerial, so you can only watch via Apps, hard to watch live and flip between channels (and the first one that comes on every time is GB News, which is deeply disturbing). But you've got iPlayer, Youtube, and Netflix if you want to sign in, which is great.
