The staff were extremely polite and friendly. The beds were really comfortable. Loved the Penhaligan toilettries in the bathroom. The location and whole atmosphere were both perfect for a relaxing night away.

The carpet in the entrance to our room (The Dovecote) was quite stained and there were damp dark patches around the skirting board near the shower. The bathroom bin was dirty on the outside. Just small things than lower the standard somewhat in an expensive hotel. £13 for a glass of wine in the spa was ridiculous. The ladies changing rooms had a sewage smell both days which wasn’t pleasant.

Bedrooms were very nice and clean the room so large with beautiful bathroom nice touch with the bath tub and TV on wall Restaurant especially breakfast was excellent very good selection the staff were very nice especially the two Asian girls especially Orapin she went above and beyond to make you feel welcome that was a nice touch a service with a smile The hotel and the area was lovely and the history of build was great experience to learn that it was a school and then it became Hotel

You have everything in a large bedroom, BUT no fridge! Jacuzzi was far to small, had to wait around to use it The swimming pool was freezing cold water Drinking water tank didn't work properly. I had to leave the spa walk to the and use gym just to use their drinking water tank, which was inconvenient The outdoor lounge area of the spa has a round water feature. It looks like the water needed to change it was a dark, dirty green colour, and it put me off sitting outside

Grounds and hotel really lovely. Spa lovely and nice to be free for guest to use, no extra charge.

Stay was expensive for quality. Room was a nice size, but the bed was too small and the mattress did not fit the base, The room and bathroom appeared tired and old. The sink taps leaked, dripped all night and if you're over 5ft 10 you can't stand under the shower, it's too low. The room location was situated as a single door on a turn in a stair well, it was a very strange set up, as if it was an after thought and I didn't like that we were shoved to the back of the hotel. This was a second visit for us, the first was much better. Then room was great, much bigger and less money. Not sure we would return.

The bar staff and the waitresses were so polite and helpful, they are a credit to your organization. The property is lovely and its location is superb. We had a memorable stay.

The totally stupid number of emails I received concerning getting a quicker checkin. I had some whilst I was in a theatre ( fortunately my phone was off) and I had no less than 4 more whilst driving my car! A total of about 8 overall asking me the same thing. Totally unnecessary, as is the photo identification. I have never experienced anything like it any where else in the world.

Absolutely stunning! Could not be more impressed with the building and the rooms. I will definitely be back there.

I loved our stay - I wish I booked longer. I got to live out my Jane Austen/Bronte fantasies. The hall, library, drawing room, courtyard and spa area were impeccable. The food for dinner and breakfast was so fresh, and well presented. Staff were kind and polite. Especially the breakfast staff!! Only thing was the bar before dinner- it took 25 minutes to deliver a wine, then another 20 for the second one. There was only one other duo in the bar as well. So not busy at all. Maybe they were hand pressing the grapes?? Honestly wouldn’t surprise me with their marvellous attention to detail! All in all, just wonderful!!

Lovely relaxed atmosphere and great spa. We was lucky to get a last minute offer but I wouldn’t have felt it was value for money paying the full price. Very good food and accommodated my allergies but was still hungry after the very small portions, and we had the full course.

Lots of work being carried out and not very well sign posted for walks. We ended up walking round the manner but would have liked to go further afield on a long walk but wasn’t sure if we could or not or where to go. We wasn’t told there was a service charge of £10 to have drinks that felt excessive, especially where we was happy to order from the bar but was told to sit down and wait for service…

Stunning driveup & entrance to the historic building. Warm welcome at reception. Beautiful bedroom, with seating area & a large bathroom. Very large comfy bed. Quiet at night which meant we slept well. Property beautifully decorated for Christmas with many Christmas trees & large roaring fires. Felt like we were guests at a stately home, visiting friends. Food in the Bistro restaurant was good & we loved the wood panelling. The lovely spa facilities, pool, steam & sauna, definitely a bonus.

Think the breakfast service could be better. The way the buffet was laid out in different rooms, could be better. Long wait on our first morning for our plated cooked breakfast. Although tasty, we found it quicker on the second morning to help ourselves. Dinner in the bistro, was nice, However, the overall experience, was let down by a certain member of staff. His attention to detail regarding drink orders, needs to be worked on.

Breakfasts were exceptional with a great choice and the buffet food was hot, fresh and very tasty. Dinner was very good although we would have liked a slightly bigger menu in the brasserie as we don't go for tasting menus. My only comment on our stay were the cheeses. Why not offer British artisan cheeses or some unusual French cheeses? There is a huge choice. Our room was very comfortable and I liked having my shoes cleaned for a change. Overall a lovely stay with excellent service in a marvellous stately home. We also enjoyed the gym.

Really lovely old building in the perfect location for our visit to Rockingham Castle. Staff were generally very good. Room was a good size and had everything you needed.

The service could have been a bit “slicker”. We were greeted by a lovely helpful lady on our arrival. The spa was nice but they weren’t very good about things like making sure there were glasses at the water machine etc, it’s the little things that tip it over to a perfect stay. We were in a section of the hotel with a lot of stairs, no one checked before hand that we would be ok with that. There was an EV charger on view but was not available for guest use.

The hotel is a beautiful building set in a very nice countryside location. The room was very nice, well decorated and very comfortable. The pool and sauna/steam room were modern and enjoyable, albeit a little over crowded. The Cocktails were very nice at the bar. Generally a nice and pleasant experience staying at Ruston Hall.

Though we didn’t pay for a spa day, as access to the facilities were included within our stay, we wouldn’t have done so on the basis of the small facilities in comparison to others we have visited. The food at the restaurant, although tasty, was a little small and left us feeling a little disappointed. Not too many things that we didn’t like, however given the price, we would be expecting a little more from the hotel.
