We stayed at Hotel Rudyard for a working excursion and couldn’t have asked for a better setting. Nestled in a picturesque location with a beautiful reservoir right on its doorstep, the surroundings were simply idyllic. We booked a mini apartment that comfortably accommodated five adults, equipped with all the amenities we could need. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, making us feel truly welcome. Dinner in the on-site restaurant was a treat—the burgers were scrumptious and paired beautifully with a bottle of Rioja. After a long, scenic drive through the Peak District, a comfortable night’s sleep was just what we needed. Breakfast the next morning was warm, fresh, and hearty, setting us up perfectly for the day ahead. Everything about our stay was fantastic, and I’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

-Our beddings/ towels never changed during our stay was very disappointed. -Rooms especially the cottage where we had children not vacuumed during our stay. -At some point rooms were cold, needed to be warm due to children and heater were not working, in room 2 and 6. -Room 8 there was a mobile radiator we used to warm the room. -The breakfast was fine but fruits would have made it more appetising. - Poor communication. This is when I booked the hotel I explained very well in details that even I called and put it clear that (1) Family room that can accommodate 2 Adult 2 children ( cottage) ( 2)Dellux room that can accommodate 2 Adults and 2 children. But that was not the case we found. Thanks it was sorted no issue. Let communicate clearly to avoid disappointment.

Absolutely beautiful location. We wish we had stayed longer to have made the most of Rudyard Lake, which is just 2mins walk from the rooms. Friendly staff. Great to have the option of self catering or food at the restaurant. The appartment was much more than we had expected, and felt like a home from home. Very comfortable beds and a cute living room/dining area with microwave and kettle, plus little biscuits, tea and coffee.

The bathroom needs a little work to fix a leaking fixture, but it was a very small issue overall, and would not stop us returning. The WiFi password was not in the room and we had to call through to the reception for the details. Again, not a huge issue and easy to fix. Breakfast was delicious but could be improved as the milk was in a very dirty jug. Advert said coffee machine in room but there was only a kettle and some instant coffee. No coffee maker.

The setting was serene, nestled right beside a stunning lake. I reserved a family room featuring a bunk bed, which my 6-year-old daughter absolutely adored. The receptionist was there to greet us for our late check-in, ensuring that we were satisfied with everything before he headed home. He ensured that my extra request was fulfilled, even during the late hours. The included breakfast featured a hearty and well-cooked English breakfast that was quite satisfying. I strongly suggest this hotel for anyone seeking a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.

I didn’t have enough time to stay.

Perfectly suited to our 2 families, myself and my wife and our daughter, husband and 2 young children. We stayed in accommodation that are 2 converted/modernised cottages a short distance across the car park from the hotel. Well equipped and comfortable. Breakfast/meals served in the main building. Lovely location, a short walk to a lake and narrow gauge railway.

The only thing was that (I think at the time the hotel was looking for a new chef) there was a wait for breakfast to be served and this didn’t “agree” with two children under 5! Food was, however, perfect and hopefully the issue will have been resolved by now. Only a minor point specific to our young family.

The accomodation and room was clean and well maintained and well heated. Coffee/Tea/Biscuits/Soap/Towels were in plentiful supply, and were topped up regularly. The included Full English breakfast was a corker - well cooked, presented and very tasty, and arrived promptly. The staff were polite, friendly and cheerful. A bonus was a walk around the nearby Lake Rudyard on a crisp Winter day, the West side walk was particularly magical. The walk on the East side was flat and continued to Leek.

It was all good.

A clean, comfortable and welcoming room. Staff were all very helpful, friendly and polite. Good customer service. The food was very tasty and the wine nicely chilled.

The pillows! Despite there being several pillows provided, they were all either much too soft or extremely hard. As a result, I had a very poor night's sleep. I have rebooked for another date but will bring my own pillow next time. A small bottle of water on the room tea tray would have been appreciated, as would instructions on how to use the coffee machine.

Beautiful location...have stayed in the past. Unfortunately I wasn't given the room I booked ie garden view & bath. I did go downstairs to complain...however it was choc a bloc busy with customers for Sunday lunch...so I obviously didn't want to cause any disruption. I was expecting a better room...as I have stayed in the past. A little disappointed...but breakfast was really nice...thankyou 👌

I have mentioned it previously...I paid for a room with a bath & garden view...yet got a shower & car park view I've posted my comments on the prior post today

We stayed on a Wednesday night due to attending a wedding reception nearby at The Ashes Barns Wedding Venue and were very pleased with the experience. Our room overlooked the front of the hotel and was spacious enough with good curtains to block out the light. While there was some noise from the car park, the size of the hotel means this is minimal and does not disturb. (There is a car park at the back of the hotel too.) The en-suite was functional if cramped but certainly fine for an overnight stay. We took dinner in the restaurant (Wednesday is now Curry Club night) and the food was of a very good standard. The Chicken Curry was very well done and the serving of Roast Beef in Yorkshire Pudding was sizeable; all the time the waiting team could not do enough to help. There seemed to be a number of locals in the bar eating and this is always a good sign. After a comfortable sleep, breakfast (included in out price) was also very good and to be recommended. Rooms are key operated with a fob to access the hotel after 11pm. By the time we returned from the wedding at about 11:30, the hotel was pretty much closed for the night but there was no issue letting ourselves in and to bed.

Beautiful scenery Huge cottage style rooms Kind and helpful staff Nice cosy area for breakfast and amazing value breakfast We only stayed for a night for a wedding but everyone was kind and helpful, the hotel had a really nice cosy vibe and it is near a beautiful lake in the countryside. We will definitely return when it’s warmer to have a long weekend and hike around. Thank you

Heating took a bit of time to come on and the room was freezing cold when we went in. However it got sorted within an hour.
