Great location 3 minutes' walk above the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery, and easy walking to everywhere else in Margate. Rooms weren't huge, but were tastefully decorated, equipped with everything you'd need, and spotlessly clean. Nice Continental breakfast (NB cappuccino costs extra!). Super friendly and helpful staff, without exception. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant/lobby area and throughout. Lift to all floors. Fab-looking roof terrace as well!
No parking on site (we knew that in advance), but helpful arrangement with the car park of a closed-down pub 2 doors away, for which the hotel takes the payment on the car park's behalf.

Everything was absolutely perfect! The location is fantastic, with a breathtaking view of the sea to wake up to. The breakfast was great, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. The entire hotel is beautifully decorated with high-quality materials, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. There are also wonderful books available to read, which adds to the charm. The hotel has a Wes Anderson vibe, and it’s one of those rare places where you feel like you could live there. A special mention goes to the hallway leading to the rooms, which showcases the remnants of Margate’s history, almost like a small museum!
If I had to find something slightly negative, it would be the soundproofing in the rooms. We could hear our neighbors’ entire conversation, even though they weren’t speaking particularly loudly. Additionally, the rooms were very warm. Despite turning off all the heating and thermostats, and leaving the window open about 20 cm, it didn’t seem to help.

The room was beautiful and so clean, There was coffee tea and fresh milk available in the room free of charge, The building is stunning and the location is ideal for a weekend in Margate. Free sparking on the street was easy enough about a 4 minute walk away. We even ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner because it seemed so ambient and the menu looked so good. We were not disappointed - the restaurant just made us love the hotel even more. We definitely want to go back!
We stayed on a Sunday and the only downside was the basement bar was closed and we had looked forward to a nightcap and playing cards. Apart from that, we loved the entire experience.

Fantastic location just next to Turner Contemporary and the sea. Gorgeous roof terrace with lovely views. Really nice selection of whisky in the bar, comfy and stylish with lovely furniture and art everywhere. Make sure you check out the Tracey Emin in the basement bar. Nice bed, beautiful bathroom, really thoughtful selection of reading material. Friendly attentive staff. And best of all, a cookie on arrival!
Didn't realise the parking would be tricky but found somewhere round the corner in the end.

The location was fine for us, wth a walk down the side road outside to the market square or, following the main road into town, a walk by the beach/ sea or along the pier with the Tate gallery across the road. The breakfast was interesting and the chef far more ammenable than I expected as we did ask for a few changes to the list which were happily carried out. Emanuel was looking after us and was great. In fact, all the staff were excellent and very friendly. The roof terrace was a great addition and the downstairs bar fun with it's slightly 'off the wall' layout. Our evening meal the first night was interesting and very well cooked and served splendidly.
Our room was very comfortable and was supposed to have a 'sea view'. Yes, we could see the sea, or a small chunk of it, but hardly what I would term a sea view as such. Perhaps the next floor up has that. Unusually, there was no television in the room. While it wasn't a major loss, having one for the odd bit of news while getting ready in the morning I find quite useful. There was a radio/ bluetooth speaker. Space was a little tight with small suitcases to shove out the way but we did manage. I'm not a fan of rainfall showers but coped ok....

The hotel is beautiful and fitted out to a high standard. There is excellent attention to detail in the rooms and restaurant, which serves great food. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the room we booked where there was an intermittent buzzing sound. We were relocated to a different room with no fuss.
The room did look out directly onto a building site so there was no privacy from the window but that’s not the hotels fault. It is a period property and the rooms are not soundproofed so we were disturbed by other guests in particular loud children - we long for more child-free hotels!

Really lovely hotel, tastefully decorated, incredibly nice staff, big room, Haeckels products in the bathroom and one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in. The downstairs restaurant is great, very reasonably priced; and they let me order food and drinks to take up to my room and the roof terrace was a lovely spot to watch the sunset with a cocktail. I stayed here for two nights, the first night I was alone as my friends flight got delayed and I felt very safe, room was also super clean, plenty of towels and lovely small details like chilled water, coffee and tea and even freshly baked cookies. The location is great, you can walk everywhere and there’s a great selection of restaurants and shops right around the corner. Such a gorgeous hotel and can’t wait to come back.
Would be great to put a heated pad or something to de-steam the mirror in the bathroom and also better ventilati N, as after you showered I had to open a window to get rid of all the steam, and my room unfortunately faced someone’s living room which isn’t ideal when you’re getting out of the shower. There were also some water pipes running behind where my bed was which were a bit noisy at some points of the night. I also ordered the full English breakfast one morning but asked for it without meat products as I’m vegetarian, which even though they couldn’t offer any alternatives they kindly accommodated, but when I saw my bill id been charged full price for it which is a bit unfair, would be great to add a vegetarian/vegan version to the menu.

The hotel is located at a walking distance of ca. 10 minutes from the train station, and 30 seconds away from the beach. The staff was polite, helpful, and very friendly. The whole building is decorated with wonderful paintings. The room was really clean, there was AC, and the view from the window was fabulous. The bed was really comfortable, and the bedsheets soft. Body lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were provided, all from a local manufacturer - their smells were luxurious. The restaurant served tasty food, including some amazing breakfast options. I will definitely stay there again!

Staff at Fort Road Hotel are simply amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. Any issues were addressed immediately and with respect and warmth. Every request was met with understanding and a genuine, determined effort to fulfill it. I can't speak of them highly enough.
We stayed in the suite on the top floor and unfortunately the first two nights of our stay were disturbed by chairs on the roof top being blown around in the wind. When I brought this to the staff's attention, however, they immediately worked to resolve the issue.

The attention to detail and decor was incredible as was the absolutely delicious breakfast. The location is perfect as the sound of the waves helps you drift to sleep. The staff was incredibly helpful and we loved the lazy lift - a minute well spent. Loads of character and style, bedding lovely and soft, bathroom clean and filled with just the right amount of goodies to keep you smelling fresh. Adored the artwork in our room and throughout the hotel. Hope to return one day.
The room was a little warm but once we'd worked out the air con all was good.
