After a gruelling weekend at Download and a long drive back to Ireland to think about we decided to stay at Harpurs for a night to recoup.. What a great idea that was. The staff were friendly.. The room was perfect and the shower was hot and well needed.. we went downstairs for a bite and a cure. The food was amazing and very well priced (pizza deal cannot be faulted) the complintary pint went down a treat too... we retreated to the room for the rest of the night and had a great sleep on a very comfortable bed. I think we will make a habbit of this going forward. 10/10

No complaints..

We stayed in a lovely dog friendly room which was situated across the road from the main pub. The room was small, yet comfortable. We booked the half board deal, which was excellent value for money. The food choice for breakfast and the evening meal was off their standard menu and was delicious. There was a vibrant pub atmosphere on the Friday evening, as well as a cosy restaurant if you prefer a more formal relaxed dining option. All staff were welcoming and friendly, the overall service was really good. We really have no faults with the establishment. We would definitely return. Thank you

Suite room was lovely with a huge bed, gorgeous bath & walk in shower. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, customer service was amazing, a rare find nowadays. Food was lovely served promptly, huge portions which were lovely and hot, a huge menu where I’m sure even the fussiest of eaters would find something. Free parking next door and situated in the centre of a lovely village.

The only thing I could possibly say is if you have mobility problems there is no lift and some rooms are up 2 flights of steep stairs, the building is very old and characterful so no fault of the hotel.

The breakfast menu was adequate. The bar and restaurant has a good ambience and the food is good also. This was my first experience of boutique accommodation in the uk and quite different to what I expected. Having said that I enjoyed my stay which was only a night stopover. My thanks to Mark the manager for allowing me to have use of the room earlier than the check in time and also vacating the room. Mark also went to the trouble of getting me a taxi to the airport and ensured my pickup arrived on time. I really appreciated his caring concern…thank you Mark. My only concern about the accommodation was the 5flights of stairs I had to negotiate to get to my room…..no lift. Luckily a member of staff carried my case up for me and Mark carried it down again…not good for older people with dicky knees🥴 Would definitely recommend but not for folks with dicky knees.

Lovely room, comfy bed and soft towels. Staff were lovely and the breakfast was delicious.

I hoped for a bath. Unfortunate the shower door was a bit out of shape. It was strange crossing the road to a terraced house, and the stairs were really steep. The room was way too hot and it was difficult to open a window and I couldn’t keep it open. Room info said there was no breakfast in the morning but turns out the book was incorrect. I informed the property already that the door handles on the wardrobe were sharp and hurt my hand.

Very handy for Donington Park for BTCC race day and coming from the direction of Melbourne meant we got into the circuit Main Entrance in the morning without getting stuck (a friend coming from the motorway spent an hour in traffic). Comfy bed and room was large with nice hot shower, tea and coffee making in the room and toiletries. We also ate there in the evening and service was friendly, food good and recommend booking as there was only one other table free. All the staff were friendly and working hard to make our stay pleasant.

Room felt cold when we first walked in but was warm as we went to bed. Obviously a pub, and didn’t bother us, but there was some noise from the pub which could be heard in the room

Very well positioned in the heart of the town with its own car park for ease . Though this is also used by locals as a pay and display . Clean and comfortable and stylish in presentation. The bed was comfortable and huge , we were almost in different post codes .

Not much really. The toilet seat could do with tightening up a bit and the shower switch was a little stiff particularly for my wife to operate but that’s it for nit picking really. Overall beautiful and the comfiest bed I’ve slept in for a long time.

We came to Melbourne to watch the just the tonic comedy festival Melbourne is a stunning village. Wonderful welcoming staff, free parking, our room with ensuite was in a cottage across the road and stairs up from a private entrance so no big reception and lifts like normal hotel so it felt more like a holiday let which suited us perfectly. Lovely bar and bringing out chips and bread and butter half time watching the football was a very unnecessary but very thoughtful gesture. Will definitely stop again.

The room was the right size for an overnight stay. Was a selection of refreshments provided free of charge. Was the opportunity to have breakfast and drinks there. The complimentary alcoholic drink was a nice touch. Free car park was a bonus too

The bed was quite hard but there again is hard to please everyone with choice of mattress so I understand that. Was no shower gel in the bathroom and I couldn't get the shampoo to pump any out

The room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable. That being said the room was very spacious and I did not hear guests in other rooms. Everything was spotless and the staff were very accommodating in the restaurant. Easy to park in the car park.

A small bit of road noise and with the whole town under the flight path of the East Midlands airport, there is a bit of noise from that. The TV was also quite small, not really an issue for me but just noticed it in proportion to the room!
