A very smart establishment. Rather than a 'room in a pub', I found myself in a beautifully decorated and spacious bedroom, with nice toiletries, a super 'tea tray' and a very comfy bed! And the bathroom was amazing. Huge with a free standing bath, big shower, loads of towels, lovely decor. Unfortunately I arrived quite late and had to leave early the next day, so was not able to enjoy much time at this lovely inn, but I know where it is now! The breakfast was excellent. The staff on arrival and at breakfast were very friendly and helpful. Perfect!

Breakfast very good but cafetiere coffee not good .. turned up lukewarm and gritty .. twice .. just letting you know so you can identify what was going wrong .. machine ? Quality of coffee ? Whatever heating the water with not working properly ? Staff not knowing how to operate ? .. pots of tea were hot and very nice indeed

Reception Area is in the bar .. there were times when we couldn't hear staff and they couldn't hear us, this made asking questions receiving answers, and interrupting staff waiting and serving to book taxis &etc. .. difficult whenever coffee machine was in operation and people were at the bar and all around the dining areas in conversation. Consider setting an area aside where things can be calmer and guests and staff more confident they're hearing instructions and responses correctly .. less stress on staff and guests has to be a good thing.

Delightful rooms in the Barn. Lends itself really well to group stays across multiple rooms. The food at the Packhorse is among the best I’ve had at English country pubs. We stayed the night before our wedding in a nearby venue and hosted a welcome drinks in the main pub building - the catering and staff was excellent throughout those drinks too. The staff are attentive and professional but also very laid back and relaxed - great combination. Well done and thank you

Only one small thing was the mirror light in my room wasn’t working.

A beautifully appointed room with spotlessly clean interior & suitably warm in this wet weather. The bed was very comfortable & the size of the room allowed for ease of movement for myself & sister. Convenient parking near to the entrance. A special mention to Becky, our friendly lady @ breakfast, who was very attentive & chatty. Also to a young trainee lady the previous evening - she too was a pleasant person who ensured our questions received a polite response regarding the menu. I did not ‘catch’ her name but I shall when I next visit this lovely Inn.

It was in a lovely quiet location. Katrina and her staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was very clean and had everything you needed. Parking was ample and we were helped with our luggage to the room.

The bed whilst comfortable was very small, the bath in the bedroom has led to a very noticeable damp smell (no shower). I had emailed when I made the booking that we needed a room with a shower but clearly this was missed or ignored. Breakfast was ok, when ordering mushrooms on toast and asking for tomatoes you would expect them to be grilled not just raw sliced!

This is a gorgeous place to stay, full of character and charm and lots of little details , that shows care and attention has been taken. The food is great - I had a delicious meal and breakfast. But the staff are incredible! I had ordered a couple of parcels for work and thought I had put the right address down for delivery to the Packhorse. Yep, I messed up and the delivery went to somewhere else! Chris actually went and retrieved the parcels himself for me!! Outstanding customer service - a massive thankyou to him and Gabby for helping me out 👏👏👏

A beautifully presented hotel, pub and restaurant in a lovely little village outside Newmarket. The room we booked (Warren) was gorgeous, with a lovely big bathtub, spotlessly clean and lots of space. Our dinner that night, and breakfast the following morning, was delicious. We went in January, just before returning to work, and it was a lovely place to reset and relax between Christmas and the return to work.

Nothing really. Everything was to our liking, and it was a fantastic stay - we definitely hope to return.

Everything about the room was perfect, and the restaurant food is incredible. The staff are fantastic, so helpful and friendly! My partner and I stayed in primrose and it was fabulous, and we booked 3 rooms for friends who also had no complaints at all!

The only issue we had was as we were in a room above the pub/restaurant the noise levels were sometimes pretty high! To be expected and not a major issue for us, the only night we were bothered was the evening before we left as we had an early start in the morning. The noise was gone by about 12:30am. Would maybe just advise that the hotel supply disposable ear plugs in the room just in case!

Breakfast was excellent served by friendly helpful staff. Evening meal was also excellent and likewise staff cheerful, welcoming and efficient.

Only possible negative was having a roll top bath in the bedroom and no separate shower. Novel certainly and twenty years ago we would probably have appreciated it more but my wife and I are both in our mid/late seventies and climbing in and out of a deep bath isn’t quite as easy as it used to be 😀. Not the hotel’s fault because I did not tell them of our age when booking and this is not a complaint just a suggestion that it might be a good idea to mention it when a booking is taken because there are a large number of us oldies around now 🤣🤣.

Check in was slow as there only seemed to be one person looking after the bar and everything else. Would have preferred proper shower, rather than bath in room - although that may have been me not reading details properly. But be careful
