Really lovely hotel, made to feel very welcome by amazing staff. Our room was lovely, and the bed was a great size and comfy. Gorgeous breakfast. Amazing views, and overall we loved it.

Parking is a bit of a pain (not the hotel's fault) but we received good advice as to where the leave the car (Rope Street car park, £2.50 for 24 hours).

Nice people. The hotel must be close to the highest point of the town and has great views. It's a little away from the main tourist areas but only two or three minutes walk from all the places of interest, shops and restaurants. The facilities in the room all worked as they should and the breakfast was excellent. On the whole, I think the Hope Anchor gives excellent value for money, I've paid much more elsewhere for considerably less, and I'd happily stay again.

I have to mention the comport of the bed in my room, or rather the lack of it. The mattress was two singles zipped together and simply didn't work - the ridge down the centre line was a pain - literally. My booking was for a single room, so no big problem for me, but it does need to be addressed. I mentioned it at the reception, so I expect it'll be quickly sorted.

I received a very friendly welcome and I really liked my big room at the top of the stairs on one side. The room was big with sloping ceilings which just added to the character. The bathroom was huge. It had great views over the river and marsh. Breakfast was excellent. It was nice to choose the hot food the night before and then be greeted with a lot of continental selections. There was also a great view outside the hotel with several benches. I really liked how quiet this hotel was after being in London for several nights.

The room was quite bright at night with an emergency light in the center. It was up a steep stairs and might be difficult for some.

We had a lovely Valentine's weekend stay at The Hope Anchor Hotel in Rye. The hotel is conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from the famous Mermaid Street and within easy reach of major attractions and transport options. Our room was compact yet well-equipped with all the necessary amenities, and the highlight was the stunning view of Rye Harbour. The hotel was well-managed, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast each morning was delicious and fulfilling, with a great selection of fresh and tasty options. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend The Hope Anchor Hotel to anyone looking for a charming and comfortable stay in Rye.

This is quite a sweet place. The staff were helpful especially guiding us with respect to parking. Breakfast was very nice (you have to order the warm breakfast beforehand). The room was also quite decent. The hotel is a stone's throw from Mermaid Street and High Street, worth walking through. The town itself is quite pretty, with a lot of historical buildings. For what we paid (less than GBP60), I find the hotel is very good value for money.

Free parking is quite difficult in the whole of central Rye. The room was OK, but the two steps leading to the bathroom, and the slanted ceiling in the bathroom itself required some effort to navigate when tired.

Great elevated location with extensive views. Welcomed by friendly, helpful staff. We only booked a small room, 24, but it was perfect for us. Great breakfast with lots of choice. Would definitely book again. There's no parking at the hotel, so we parked at the Old Cattle Market which is a bargain at £3 for 24 hours - drive right through and park at the station end to be closest to the hotel, then it's a 5 minute walk up a cobbled street. Great location for exploring Rye, a short drive to Rye Harbour for a walk around a bird sanctuary, and not far to drive to Camber Sands for an expansive sandy beach and dunes (and expensive parking, although in the quiet season you can find a few free on-road parking spaces just beyond the car park entrance).

The hotel is situated in the centre and is in a quiet location with great views. Rooms were clean with a comfortable bed. Tea / coffee in the room. Bathroom nice size. The bathroom had a bath with a shower. The only issue with the bathroom was that the shower leaked, and it looked like the seal needed replacing. Staff were lovely. Jane was very welcoming and checked us in. On check out, there was no one around, so I had to ask the waitress who was nice but noted that she obviously had to cover both areas, the breakfast room and reception. Breakfast was good.

One staff member to man the breakfast room and check in / out. It's not fair for one person to have to manage both. Some room maintenance needed.

This charming hotel is in a fabulous location with lovely views and it has a sense of history as soon as you step inside. Very quick check in by friendly staff and we liked the fact that we were asked to choose our cooked breakfast items and time in advance so that it meant breakfast service was efficient and no waiting around. The quality of ingredients was excellent and the staff at breakfast were also great. There are some cosy areas to sit and chat and a nice bar to relax with a beer. We were also given happy hour ticket which was a nice touch. Lovely room with great views, nice bed linen and very comfortable bed.

Room, staff all good. Very good breakfast. Also, like the fact that there is a reusable stainless steel bottle of water rather than ridiculous plastic water bottles.

The staff were friendly, communicative, and helpful. Location was perfect for my requirements. Building was charming and one could feel the character of Rye. The deep bath with hot running water was exactly what was needed after a 5 hour drive in horrendous wintery and dark road conditions.

Due to age and traditional English setup, my room was a little tired with unavoidable historic stains around the room but it did feel clean. This can be changed with a more European hard flooring and a new bed throw. Parking is also an issue as only possible out of day peak times, although alternative paid parking were around the town.
